Abstract

The "Adolescent Reproductive Health Education Program for Parents in the Migrant Worker Community of Kampung Pandan, Malaysia" aims to enhance parents' knowledge and involvement in guiding their adolescent children on reproductive health. The migrant worker community faces unique challenges in accessing health education, including the role of parents in educating their children about reproductive health. As faith-based and community-oriented organizations, PCIM and PCIA strive not only to educate but also to empower, particularly by providing relevant skills to improve quality of life. A total of 29 parents participated, with the majority aged 46-55 years and working as laborers or housewives. The results of pre-tests and post-tests showed an improvement in parents' understanding, with 59% demonstrating good comprehension of adolescent reproductive health and 66% showing a positive attitude toward educational activities. However, 24% of participants remained less engaged. Based on these findings, community-based counseling programs. have proven effective, although further approaches are needed to increase the involvement of all participants. Recommendations include targeted mentoring and collaboration with local health institutions.

The purpose of this community service activity is to determine the level of knowledge of female adolescents regarding anemia and hemoglobin (Hb) values. The method in the community service activity is to provide education about anemia and adequate nutrition, pretest-posttest, and blood hemoglobin examination. The media used for education is video and knowledge measurement with a knowledge instrument. This activity was carried out at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah Tegalanjang. The number of female students is 17 students. The results of the activity showed that 88.24% of female adolescents had good knowledge after being given education. The average hemoglobin level of female adolescents is 14.29 g/dl. In conclusion, providing education through video media can increase changes in the level of knowledge for female adolescents at Tegalpanjang Middle School. This activity needs to be continuously coordinated with the Tegalpanjang Health Center as a follow-up to ongoing activities such as routine provision of blood-boosting tablets and the formation of peer groups.

Abstract

Hypertension or high blood pressure is a severe global health problem and is often a significant risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Monitoring blood pressure regularly can help identify potential health problems quickly, enabling better treatment and preventive measures to avoid more severe problems, especially in cases of hypertension. Community service was conducted on Sunday, July 30, 2023, using a direct examination approach to residents who attended the PRIM & PRIA Kampung Pandan Malaysia branch deliberation event. The results of the examination showed that 20 residents were suffering from hypertension, or 46% of participants were suffering from hypertension. Twenty-three residents do not suffer from hypertension, 54%. Hypertension is characterized by increased blood pressure in the body's arteries, which can cause severe complications if not treated properly. Adults should check their blood pressure regularly as part of preventive health care. We encourage people to check their blood pressure regularly, especially if they are at high risk or have a family history of high blood pressure. Routine examinations allow for early detection and good management.

Abstract

Background. Some women with breast cancer tend to have psycho-social stress, embarrassment from the disease's treatment, and difficulty asking for help. Furthermore, several studies indicate limited use of complementary online intervention in mental and spiritual health care, particularly when using mobile-based technologies. Purpose. This study identifies the key factors that affect the need for mobile-app complementary interventions and the variables affecting them among Indonesian breast cancer patients. Methods. A cross-sectional survey study with a simple random sampling technique included 112 patients between May and July 2022. The research instrument used is The Quality of Life-Breast Cancer questionnaire, Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy–Spiritual Well-Being (FACIT-Sp), Palliative Performa Scale Version 2, and The Need for Complementary Interventions using mobile-app technology (NCIM) to measure Predictors of The Need for Complementary Interventions. Meanwhile, multiple linear stepwise regression was used, and the potential multicollinearity effects among NCIM predictive variables were assessed through the collinearity analysis of variable inflation factors. Results. The mean score of NCIM was 25.17 and ranged from 10 to 40, and multiple regression analysis showed that the psychological and social dimensions of quality of life, as well as Facit-Sp, significantly affected the NCIM. This explains 8.5% of the total variance in the need for Mobile-app Complementary Intervention. Conclusion. Women with breast cancer have a high need for complementary interventions based on mobile technology. This study can provide the development of complementary intervention using mobile application technology.

Abstract

The correct practice of handwashing among preschool children remains notably deficient, consequently contributing to a heightened prevalence of infectious diseases within this age group. To ameliorate this situation, the utilization of audiovisual-based health education has been proposed as an effective means. The principal aim of this investigation is to enhance handwashing behaviors in preschool children. Employing a quantitative approach, the study adopted a pre-experimental one-group pre-test post-test research design, encompassing a sample size of 46 participants selected via a total sampling technique. Data was gathered through the utilization of observation sheets and subsequently analyzed employing the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. The outcomes unveiled that, before the implementation of health education, handwashing behavior was predominantly subpar, with 95.6% of cases falling into this category. However, post-health education, the majority of cases (87%) exhibited commendable handwashing behavior. This transformation was supported by a p-value of 0.000, underscoring the substantive impact of audiovisual-based health education on handwashing practices among preschool children. It is advisable for the research site to consistently reinforce these behaviors by regularly presenting handwashing instructional videos.

Abstract

Domestic violence (DV) has significant mental health consequences, including depression. Social support plays a critical role in mitigating these effects. This study aims to explore the relationship between social support and depression levels among domestic violence victims. The research employed a correlational, cross-sectional design, collecting data via questionnaires. The instruments used included demographic data, the Social Support Questionnaire-6 (SSQ-6) to assess social support, and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) to measure depression levels. The study population consisted of 40 women victims of domestic violence who had reported their cases to the UPTD PPA in West Java Province. Bivariate data analysis was conducted using the Spearman test. The majority of respondents were aged 25-44 (57.5%), had a high school education (40%), were unemployed (75%), and had experienced psychological violence (30%). A notable 62.5% of respondents reported insufficient social support, and 45% were found to have moderate depression. The analysis revealed a significant relationship between social support and depression levels (p-value= 0.005, <0.05). These findings confirm that there is a significant association between social support and depression levels in domestic violence victims.
