Abstract

Domestic violence (DV) has significant mental health consequences, including depression. Social support plays a critical role in mitigating these effects. This study aims to explore the relationship between social support and depression levels among domestic violence victims. The research employed a correlational, cross-sectional design, collecting data via questionnaires. The instruments used included demographic data, the Social Support Questionnaire-6 (SSQ-6) to assess social support, and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) to measure depression levels. The study population consisted of 40 women victims of domestic violence who had reported their cases to the UPTD PPA in West Java Province. Bivariate data analysis was conducted using the Spearman test. The majority of respondents were aged 25-44 (57.5%), had a high school education (40%), were unemployed (75%), and had experienced psychological violence (30%). A notable 62.5% of respondents reported insufficient social support, and 45% were found to have moderate depression. The analysis revealed a significant relationship between social support and depression levels (p-value= 0.005, <0.05). These findings confirm that there is a significant association between social support and depression levels in domestic violence victims.

Abstract

Background: Eye fatigue syndrome increases as students use computers and smartphones during online learning. Interventions to reduce the eye fatigue syndrome and avoid the severity of its symptoms need to be performed with appropriate and easy-to-practice techniques. Objective: This study aims to determine effects of eye yoga exercises on eye fatigue syndrome in students during online learning. Methods: This study applied one group pretest-post-test design involving 30 students from Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Bandung, West Java Province, Indonesia. Its samples were collected by using a proportional stratified random sampling. The eye yoga exercises were practiced four times for one week and had to begin 30 minutes after the end of online learning. The eye fatigue syndrome was measured using the Computer Vision Syndrome Questionnaire (CVS-Q). The difference in the intervention effect was calculated by using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. Results: This study revealed that the yoga eye exercises significantly affected the eye fatigue syndrome (Z= -4.636; p-value < 0.05). The average eye fatigue score decreased; the eye fatigue score before the intervention was 14.40 ± 9.17, and it decreased to 9.17 ± 4.88 after the eye yoga exercise intervention was given. Conclusion: Eye yoga exercises can reduce the level of eye fatigue syndrome in students who are learning by using electronic devices. The exercises can be performed independently to reduce this syndrome when working with a computer or smartphone. This intervention can be a standard for preventing the syndrome in educational institutions by incorporating eye yoga exercises after learning activities, particularly in online learning.

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Postpartum challenges pose significant stress and diminish maternal confidence among first-time mothers. These challenges are exacerbated by limited healthcare access, cultural influences, and logistical barriers, which complicate postpartum self-management, particularly in resource-constrained settings. Addressing these issues is essential. Methods: The study employed an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design. The initial phase involved a quasi-experimental survey to compare self-efficacy scores between intervention and control groups, each consisting of 30 participants. Self-efficacy was measured using the Perceived Maternal Parenting Self-Efficacy (PMP S-E) scale, and the Mann-Whitney test was employed to compare group means. The second phase was a qualitative study. Participants from the intervention group were selected using simple random sampling based on odd-numbered identifiers, resulting in 15 primiparous women. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Results: Participants in both groups had comparable age distributions and educational backgrounds.  The intervention group achieved a significantly higher mean score (65) compared to the control group (41.8), confirmed by a Mann-Whitney test (p < 0.001) with a large effect size (Cohen's d = 5.15). Qualitative findings identified five themes and 15 categories. Conclusions: E-coaching effectively enhances maternal self-efficacy in primiparous mothers, offering a promising approach to addressing postpartum challenges in resource-limited settings.

Abstract

Palliative care plays a crucial role in supporting individuals with chronic and life-limiting illnesses, yet awareness remains limited, especially in resource-constrained areas like Sucinaraja, Garut Regency. This community service initiative sought to increase understanding of palliative care among members of the Muhammadiyah community through a two-day educational seminar. The program covered prevalent chronic diseases, core principles of palliative care, and identification of patients needing such services. A total of 54 participants attended, engaging in interactive lectures and practical exercises. Knowledge and awareness were assessed using pre- and post-test. Results revealed substantial improvement: post-test accuracy surpassed 80% across all knowledge items, while participants’ awareness significantly increased, with most expressing strong agreement on the importance and community relevance of palliative care. Furthermore, there was notable family support for the integration of palliative care services. This program underscores the value of culturally tailored, community-based health education and the strategic role of religious organizations in promoting public health. Future programs should explore broader outreach and evaluate long-term behavioral impacts
