Abstract

Background: Weaving has risk for experiencing nonspecific low back pain (LBP) that caused by bad posture and prolonged sitting duration. Poor sitting position causes musculoskeletal disorders, one of which is pain. Complaints of pain that is felt in the waist, causing functional limitation of movement when moving due to postural errors, are called nonspecific LBP. Weavers with good body positions have a low risk of nonspecific LBP complaints and increased productivity. This study aimed to determine the relationship between sitting position and nonspecific LBP complaints in Buton Sarong weavers in Baubau City. Methods: This study used an analytic observational research design with a cross-sectional approach. The research subjects were taken using probability and purposive sampling techniques. The independent variable measured was the sitting position using the rapid entire body assessment (REBA). The dependent variable measured was nonspecific LBP using a physiotherapy history-taking process. Results: There were 63 weavers in this study, 51 people (81%) had a low sitting position, and 12 (19%) had medium risk. The Spearman's rho non-parametric analysis test showed no relationship between sitting position and nonspecific LBP complaints in this population (p=0.819). Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between sitting position and nonspecific LBP complaints.

Abstract

Introduction: Children need attention and education from their families, schools, and communities to support their development. Cognitive function, especially attention, is vital for their learning process. Previous studies have shown suboptimal cognitive function (average digit span test score of 4.31) and decreased attention during lessons, evidenced by frequent seat changes and talking. Enhancing these areas through sensorimotor play can create more engaging and enjoyable learning experiences for children. Methods: This quasi-experimental study utilized consecutive sampling to determine a sample size of 30 children based on Pocock's formula. Two classes from TK SPNF SKB were randomly selected, and subjects were assessed for eligibility based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The subjects were randomly divided into 15 children in the intervention group and 15 in the control group. The intervention group participated in sensorimotor play sessions three times a week for three weeks, totaling nine sessions, each lasting 30-35 minutes. The control group did not receive any intervention. Results: Data analysis using paired sample t-tests demonstrated a significant improvement in the intervention group's learning attention (p = 0.001) and cognitive function (p = 0.001). Independent t-test results indicated an essential difference between the two groups post-intervention (p = 0.001). Conclusion: Sensorimotor play effectively enhances attention and cognitive function in children. Keywords: sensorimotor play, learning attention, cognitive function

Abstract

Introduction: Abdominal circumference serves as an indicator in determining central obesity criteria. In the Asia-Pacific region, the central obesity criteria are abdominal circumference ?90 cm for men and ?80 cm for women. Menopausal women experience decreased estrogen levels associated with the loss of subcutaneous fat and increased abdominal fat. When there is excessive fat distribution in the central body, there is a possibility of decreased adiponectin levels as an anti-atherogenic factor, leading to increased blood pressure. This study aims to determine the relationship between abdominal circumference and blood pressure increase in menopausal women in the Mengwi District. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted on a population of menopausal women aged 45-55 years using a consecutive sampling technique. Subjects were selected according to inclusion, exclusion, and dropout criteria until the total number of subjects reached 85 individuals. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman rho test to determine the relationship between variables and the correlation strength. Results: Based on the data analysis, there was a significant relationship between abdominal circumference and blood pressure, as evidenced by a p-value of 0.018 (p<0.05) and a weak positive correlation coefficient (0.255). Conclusion: Abdominal circumference is associated with increased blood pressure in menopausal women with a weak correlation level. Keywords: abdominal circumference, blood pressure, women, menopause
