Abstract

Guided inquiry module is one of alternative to improve students’ science process skills and cognitive learning outcomes. The aim of this research was to produce guided inquiry module in animal reproductive system material as well as improving student science process skills and cognitive learning outcomes. The research used ADDIE development model which consists of the following stages: analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluation. The research instruments for collecting the data included material and media expert validation sheets, field practitioner questionnaire, module practicality questionnaire, pretest and posttest question sheets (used to measure science process skills and cognitive learning outcomes). The data analysis technique used were quantitative and qualitative descriptions as well as quade's rank analysis of covariance. The results of content and media expert validations were 94.84%  and 92.43%  respectively. In addition, the field practitioner response reached 95.7% and the module practicality value was 91.3%. Furthermore, the module has significantly improved students’ science process skills [F(1,78) = 42.509, p < 0.05] and  cognitive learning outcome  [F(1,78) = 7.480, p < 0.05]. Hence, the module is recommended to be implemented in delivering animal reproductive system.

Abstract

Abstrack: One of the causes of student’s low understanding of reproductive system material is that there are no learning resources available. This research was aimed to produce guided inquiry based module based on the results of research that is valid and practical. ADDIE (Analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate) developing model is used in this research. Qualitative and quantitative data are used in the study. The resulting module is very valid and very practical with the validation value by material 92,43%, media 92,43%, field practitioners 95,7%, and practicality 91,3%.Abstrak: Salah satu penyebab rendahnya pemahaman mahasiswa tentang materi sistem reproduksi yaitu tidak tersedia sumber belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan modul berbasis inkuiri terbimbing berdasarkan hasil penelitian pada materi sistem reproduksi yang valid dan praktis. ADDIE (analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate) adalah model pengembangan yang digunakan pada penelitian. Data kualitatif dan kuantitatif digunakan pada penelitian. Modul dikategorikan sangat valid dan sangat praktis dengan nilai validasi materi 94,84%, media 92,43%, praktisi lapangan 95,7%, dan kepraktisan 91,3%.

Abstract

Introduction The purpose of education is directed in accordance with developments in technology, information, and communication. Students are expected to have skills and skills. Understanding concept is the basis for achieving various 21st century. The results of observations indicate understanding of student’s concepts and communications skills is low. The right solution to solve this problem is the application of guided inquiry based on Lesson Study (LS).Method Classroom action research method using a qualitative descriptive approarch based on lesson study in the form of plan, do, see stages.Results The results showed that the implementation of inquiry learning syntax in the first cycle was 98% and increased in the second cycle to 100%. The application of inquiry can increase student’s understanding of concepts by a percentage of 71,75 in the first cycle and increased to 81,3 in the second cycle. Communication skills with a classical average of 81,2 in the first cycle and increased to 84,95 in the second cycle.Conclusions and Recomendations Criteria for the implementation of the inquiry model and lesson study are very accomplished and can improve student’s understanding of concepts and communications skills.Keywords inquiry learning, understanding of concept, communication skills, Lesson Study (LS) ABSTRAK Pendahuluan Tujuan pendidikan diarahkan sesuai dengan perkembangan teknologi, informasi, dan komunikasi. Mahasiswa diharapkan memiliki kecakapan dan keterampilan. Pemahaman konsep merupakan dasar untuk mencapai berbagai keterampilan abad 21. Keterampilan komunikasi merupakan salah satu kecakapan yang harus dimiliki di abad 21. Hasil observasi menunjukkan pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan komunikasi mahasiswa masih rendah. Solusi yang tepat untuk menyelesaikan masalah ini adalah penerapan Inkuiri Terbimbing berbasis Lesson Study (LS). Metode Penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif berbasis lesson study berupa tahapan plan, do, see. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterlaksanaan sintaks pembelajaran inkuiri pada siklus I sebesar 98% dan meningkat pada siklus II menjadi 100%. Penerapan inkuiri dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep mahasiswa dengan persentase 71,75 pada siklus I dan meningkat menjadi 81,3 pada siklus II. Keterampilan komunikasi dengan rata-rata klasikal sebesar 81,2 pada siklus I dan meningkat menjadi 84.95 pada siklus II. Kesimpulan dan Saran Kriteria keterlaksanaan model inkuiri dan lesson study sangat terlaksana serta dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan komunikasi mahasiswa. Kata Kunci pembelajaran inkuiri, pemahaman konsep, keterampilan komunikasi, Lesson Study (LS).

Abstract

The implementation of learning at the Kerinci Islamic Institute (IAIN) refers to the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI). 21st century learning requires students to have a caring attitude towards the environment, communication skills, and cognitive learning outcomes. Observation results show that environmental care attitudes, communication skills, and student cognitive learning outcomes are still low. The formulation of the research problem is how to value the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the contextual approach-based learning model through the Pusako feast culture. The type of research is development research using the ADDIE design (analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate). The logical validation value is 87.58 with a very valid category. The validation value of field practitioners is 89.4% with a very valid category. The value of the practicality of the learning model is 89% with a very practical category. The learning model developed is effective to improve the attitude of caring for the environmentF count 12,407 with p-value = 0.048 < (α = 0.05), skills with p-value = 0.000 < (α = 0.05), and cognitive learning outcomes with p-value = 0.009 < ( = 0.05). The contextual approach-based learning model through the cultural feast of the Satisfaction has been very valid, very practical, and effective for improving environmental care attitudes, communication skills, and cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

The development of education demands a learning mechanism that is adaptive to all conditions. The results of observations show that students' understanding of concepts and communication skills is still low. The factor for the low understanding of concepts and student communication skills is that there is a lack of variety in the implementation of lectures. The solution to this is learning by using the problem-based learning (PBL) model using the edmodo application. The purpose of the study was to analyze the effect of applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model using the edmodo application in improving students' understanding of concepts and communication skills. This type of research is a quasi experiment. The research design is nonrandomized pretest-pottest groups. PBL learning model using edmodo application can improve students' concept understanding (p-value = 0.008 < α (α = 0.05) and can improve students' communication skills (p-value = 0.008 < α (α = 0.05).

Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the influence of single bulb garlic on sperm quality improvement in hyperlipidemia model of male mice. Male mice (Balb-C, 12 weeks, bw 21±5 g) were given high fat diet for 45 days until their body weight achieved 45±5 g. The mice were then divided into six groups. The mice in the first group (control group (N)) was fed with 7 g higrow pokphan 551 per day. The mice in the second group (control negative group) was fed with 7 g high fat diet (HFD), while the mice in the third group (control positive group) were treated with statin at  dose of 0.91 mg. The mice in groups 4, 5, and 6 were treated with single bulb garlic extract at dose of 125 mg/kg bw, 250 mg/kg bw, and 500 mg/kg bw, respectively. On the 31st day, the male were dissected and cauda epididymis was taken and chopped in a sterile phosphat buffer saline (PBS) and observation conducted on sperm quality consisted of sperm count, sperm motility and sperm normality. The results indicated a significant increase in sperm count, motility and normality in mice treated with single bulb garlic extract at dose of 250 mg/kg bw.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the development of cognitive abilities of children aged 5-6 years through a scientific approach at Al-Azhar Kindergarten, Jambi City. This qualitative research uses a descriptive approach using a snowball sampling technique. The subjects in this study were four teachers and 80 students in the TKB class. Data collection techniques using observation, interview, and documentation techniques after which the data will be analyzed by means of data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that: first, the cognitive abilities of children aged 5-6 years in Kindergartens in the city of Jambi were still not well developed, one of which was when children had to apply the knowledge they had learned at school. Second, the scientific approach needs to be used in developing cognitive abilities in children because, with the scientific approach, children gain experience and new knowledge in a fun and interesting way so that children's scientific attitudes can be formed from an early age, such as an honest attitude, curiosity, objective attitude, and even more so when there is a problem and there is a desire to solve the problem.

Abstract

Education is known as a process of spiritual, intellectual and emotional formation. The implementation of education is realized in the learning process. The learning process in higher education directs students to be able to have good cognitive learning outcomes and collaboration skills. Observation results show that students' cognitive learning outcomes and collaboration skills are low. Therefore, it is necessary to apply a learning model that guides students to be able to have understanding and collaboration skills. One learning design that can overcome problems is the application of the Number Head Together (NHT) model based on Lesson Study (LS). This research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) using the Kemmis and Mc model. Taggart. Planning, action, observation and reflection are the stages of PTK research. Data was analyzed through the percentage of average values ​​and categorized through the level of the Akbar category. The research results showed an increase in cognitive learning outcomes as seen from the posttest scores in cycle I and cycle II with an average score of 77.75 in the good category and 87.5 in the very good category. Students' collaboration skills increased in each indicator from cycle I to cycle II with an average score of 76.75 in the good category and 87.15 which was included in the very good criteria. Therefore, exposure to the LS-based NHT model can improve students' cognitive learning outcomes and collaboration skills.

Abstract

The Indonesian National Qualifications Framework is a reference for the implementation of lectures at the State Islamic Institute Kerinci. The Indonesian National Qualifications Framework requires students to have good cognitive learning outcomes. One material that is difficult for students to understand is evolution. The cause of the difficulty of evolutionary material is the unavailability of learning resources that provide examples according to students' real lives. The solution to overcome the low cognitive learning outcomes of students on evolutionary material is the development of an evolutionary module based on Problem Based Learning (PBL). This study aims to produce an an evolutionary module based on Problem Based Learning that is valid, practical, effective. This research is a development research using the ADDIE model which consists of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The resulting data are qualitative and quantitative data. Module is very valid, very practical, effective for improving cognitive learning outcomes. The validity value of media experts is 89.8%, material experts are 90.8%, and field practitioners are 91.2%, the practicality value is 91.8%. Evolution module based on PBL is effective for improving cognitive learning outcomes with an F value of 7.489 with p-value = 0.008 < (α = 0.05).
