Abstract

Wayang masih hidup dengan baik di tengah masyarakat, khususnya Jawa. Pertunjukan yang semalam suntuk menimbulkan pertanyaan bagaimana dalang menyajikan cerita. Penelitian ini bertujukan untuk melihat formula cerita wayang lakon Jatibrasa Ki Seno Nugroho. Kajian Formula Albert J. Lord digunakan untuk menemukan formula cerita. metode analisis data menggunakan analisis konten dengan kata-kata yang dilisankan menjadi data primer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat 3 formula dalam penyampaian lakin Jatribrasa, yaitu formula penyebutan tokoh, formula nama tempat, dan formula diksi.

Abstract

Gender inequality becomes one of the most challenging issues all over the world because it is one of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets and Education for All (EFA) goals to reduce gender inequality in society. Education has a pivotal role in reducing and solving social problems because education through the teaching and learning process and the materials available could shape students’ minds and perspectives. Consequently, selecting good values and vibes in the materials are needed. Most textbooks are concerned with skills and cutting-edge technology issues. One of the illustrations is English textbooks for computer science that focus on how to be a good programmer and game developer but the materials neglect the social values, contexts, and function. The aim of this study is to develop English materials gender-based content for Computer science students as well as to promote gender equality to students. The method of this study is Research and Development (R&D) proposed by Gall, Gall, & Borg. The instruments are classified into two aspects namely questionnaire and interview. It is expected that the materials developed could reduce gender inequality in the academic environment because, through textbooks or materials, teachers are able to change the students’ perspectives and behaviors. The research results show that the students believe that the materials based on gender content can encourage them to learn English and they are enthusiastic to learn the subject.

Abstract

The theatre is one of the performing arts fields that display human behavior on stage. Human life is represented through stories, dialogues, and the behavior of the characters. One of the styles in theatre art is object theatre. Object theatre involves manipulating objects to give life to the objects used so that there is a reciprocal play between the player and the object. Object theatre itself is still relatively new in Indonesia, aiming to introduce object theatre to the public. The target of this activity is Bermi Youth, Pancor Village aged 17-20 years. Teenagers can become a faster medium for disseminating information to the next generation. The activity was held for four months with a total of 14 participants. The training methods used in this activity are workshops, training assistance, and performances at the Pengadangan Village hall, which was the earthquake's location in 2018. The activity results showed that the trainees were able to stage object theatre performances and control themselves during the show by not stealing the show.

Abstract

This article explains how project-based learning is being implemented (digital storytelling) to help students in the First Semester in Bumigora University in Mataram at become more proficient speakers. The aims of this research are to find out whether Project-Based Learning (digital storytelling) can improve students’ speaking skill and to analyze the students’ learning motivation when is implemented. A test, questionnaire, interview, and observation were used to gather the data. The researchers used action research and random sampling technique. The method used mix method, quantitative and qualitative. The steps in this design are Planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The study's conclusions showed that students' speaking abilities had improved in a number of areas, including confidence, fluency, pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. A range of speaking exercises, such as oral presentations, voice recordings, group discussions, and interviews, helped to strengthen those areas. The study's conclusions showed that pupils' speaking abilities had improved in a number of areas, including confidence, fluency, pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. Moreover, the mean gain of the students’ post-test was higher than the mean gain of the students’ pre-test. In the pre-test, the mean gain was 56.37; however, the students could achieve 74.05 in the post-test. In addition, students’ learning motivation increased in terms of: students involve in learning process, students solve the problem and search the issue, students try to work harder to avoid the failure. A demanding multimedia-based project in which students generated digital stories might give meaningful experience and increase improvement students’ spoken ability.

Abstract

English skill is an essential skill to be mastered by students nowadays. Since its importance, students need to focus on developing this skill as early as they can. Nevertheless, not all institutions could provide sufficient material and skill to be taught in the class. Based on some observations, students in panti asuhan Nurul Jannah still have some mistakes in speaking using the English language. Thus, efficient English training was needed by students in panti asuhan Nurul Jannah. Lecturers from Bumigora university who were experts in English did community service in panti asuhan Nurul Jannah. This aimed to increase students' ability in English and improve some mistakes and language errors that were still done by the students. This community service was done by applying several methods such as speech, discussion, etc. After several meetings of the training, students in this orphanage showed positive attitude toward the training and most of the students could improve their ability in English.
