Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe mathematics learning for students with special needs at SMK Negeri 2 Malang. This research is a qualitative research, which is analyzed descriptively. Researchers used interviews, observation and documentation in the data collection process. This research was conducted at SMK Negeri 2 Malang, which is located at 17 Veteran Street, Malang, Indonesia. The source of the interview was the inclusion class program coordinator, as well as the inclusion teacher at SMK Negeri 2 Malang. Researchers conducted in-depth interviews about the implementation of inclusive class learning at SMK Negeri 2 Malang. Observations were made in inclusive classes that were carrying out learning activities to observe learning methods, the media used, how teachers and students interacted and the use of learning resources. Researchers reviewed teaching module documents, lesson plans, forms of test questions, test results and reports on learning achievement of inclusion students. The validity of the research data uses the principle of method triangulation, namely by comparing data from interviews, observations and documents. Based on the results of interviews, observations and document reviews, mathematics learning activities for students with special needs are carried out separately from regular classes, the teaching teacher is an inclusion teacher, the media used is limited to a whiteboard, with lecture and question and answer methods. Observations show that inclusion students do not easily grasp the material that has been delivered by the accompanying teacher, requiring repetition 4 to 6 times. Math learning for SBK students is not carried out at the same time as the regular class, but is carried out in the study room, taught by the inclusion assistant teacher. The accompanying teacher does not use media during math lessons. SBK students have different difficulties in learning math concepts.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the combined effect of learning motivation and learning interest on students' problem-solving abilities, to determine the effect of learning motivation on students' problem-solving abilities, and to determine the effect of learning interest on students' problem-solving abilities. This study was conducted at SMP Negeri 19 Kota Malang. The approach used in this study was a quantitative approach with an ex-post facto type, with the research population consisting of all eighth-grade students at SMPN 19 Kota Malang, totaling 340 students. The researcher used 28 students as the research sample, selected using cluster random sampling by drawing lots for grade 8A to 8J and randomly selecting two class. The instruments used in this study were tests and questionnaires. The questionnaire was used to obtain data on motivation and interest in learning. The scores obtained from the learning motivation and interest questionnaire were ordinal data, which were then transformed using the Successive Interval Method (MSI) into interval data. Data analysis techniques used multiple linear regression analysis with the backward method. The research results indicate that there is no combined effect of motivation and interest in learning on students' problem-solving abilities, no effect of motivation in learning on students' problem-solving abilities, and an effect of interest in learning on students' problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

This study aimed to address a research gap by examining the effect of Creative Problem-Solving Tasks (CPST) on students’ creative self-efficacy and creative thinking ability in solving integer operation problems. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group was employed, involving 60 seventh-grade students from two public junior high schools. Participants were divided into an experimental group (CPST-based instruction) and a control group (conventional instruction). Instruments included a creative self-efficacy questionnaire and an open-ended mathematical creative thinking test contextualized in integer operations. Data were analyzed using independent sample t-tests and confirmatory factor analysis. The t-test results showed significant differences between the experimental and control groups in both self-efficacy scores (t(58) = 11.56, p < 0.001) and creative thinking ability (t(58) = 5.22, p < 0.001). The experimental group demonstrated consistent improvement in the dimensions of fluency, flexibility, and originality. Confirmatory factor analysis supported the structure of mathematical creativity as a second-order construct. These findings indicate that implementing CPST in mathematics instruction significantly enhances students’ confidence and fosters the development of creative thinking simultaneously. The implication of this study highlights the importance of instructional approaches that integrate both affective and cognitive dimensions to support mathematical creativity, particularly in complex topics such as integer operations.

Abstract

The aims of this study is to determine whether there is an effect of the IDEA (Issue, Discuss, Establish, and Apply) learning model on the ability to understand concepts in students of class VIII Islamic Pakis Junior High School statistics material. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi experiment design method and a non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study were all students in grade VIII of SMP Islam Pakis in the 2023/2024 school year. The method used for sampling is saturated sampling method. The instrument used is a test, before the instrument is used in the learning process, the researcher must test its validity. The validity test in this study uses content validity. The data collection procedure used by researchers begins with a pretest, the implementation of learning or giving treatment, and ends with a posttest. The data analysis technique used in this study is parametric analysis using the independent sample t-test test. Before using the independent sample t-test test, researchers used 2 prerequisite tests, namely, normality and homogeneous tests. The results of the normality test and homogeneous test both show sig.>0.05, which means that the data obtained are normally distributed and from homogeneous samples, so data analysis can be carried out using the Independent sample t-test test with a significance level of 0.05. The results of the pre-test and post-test data analysis from the control and experimental classes showed that there was an effect of learning using the IDEA model on concept understanding ability with Sig. = 0.00 (sig < 0.05).
