Abstract

Abstract

Noise problems caused by crowded urban markets make it difficult for people to find a quiet location. Andalas has many settlements, especially in the market area, which is located in urban areas and on the edge of the highway, which is also close to the market. This study aimed to determine the effect of market noise on health. The noise levels were measured using a sound meter measuring instrument, which was measured in three places: a clothing store, a fish store, and a public parking lot. Hypothesis testing was done using the chi-square statistical test with a 95% confidence level (p = 0.05).

Abstract

The increasing plastic waste volume in Gorontalo City is not balanced by a good management system, making people choose to burn their waste in open space. Not only makes a bad scene, this burning emits dangerous gases such as CO2 that contributes to poor air quality and climate change. This study has developed an environmentally friendly incinerator with a stacked condenser system that emits less CO2 gas. This incinerator consists of three main components: a combustion zone, as the place where plastic waste is burned; a chimney, for the flowing of gas; and stacked condensors, for cooling and keeping the gas before emitting it out. We test the incinerator with and without condensors based on the CO2 emission from 20 minutes' burning of 1.5 kg of plastic waste. The results show that an incinerator with a stacked condensor system can significantly reduce CO2 gas emissions by 18.88% more than an incinerator without condensors. This implies that incinerator with stacked condensors can be an alternative way to reduce CO2 gas from open-space waste burning on a small scale.

Abstract

One important parameter that needs to be considered in water quality is the acidity level (pH) in the water. This study aims to design and determine real-time and accurate pH sensor based on internet of thing (IoT). This system design uses an ESP32 microcontroller and The PH-4502C pH Meter Module sensor. The ESP32 can be connected to the IoT-based Blynk platform, allowing pH data to be monitored in real time via a smartphone. Testing of the IoT-based pH sensor was conducted to evaluate the system's real-time operation under varying distances. Meanwhile, the pH sensor's accuracy was determined by comparing its output with a digital pH meter using buffer solutions at different pH levels. The test results show that the time value required in each range is always constant, namely 1 s. This proves that IoT-based monitoring does not affect the range. Meanwhile, measurement of pH level was the average error value is 3.49%, and the sensor accuracy is 96.51%. These results indicate a low error rate, resulting in high accuracy. The sensor error value of 3.49% is lower than the specified error tolerance limit of <5%. This proves that the pH sensor, with an accuracy of 96.51%, is suitable and reliable for measuring pH in solutions.
