Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve the quality of basic mechanical engineering learning at Sekolah Indonesia Davao (SID) through the application of innovative and effective learning media. SID has limited access to basic mechanical engineering learning materials, and there is no media that makes it easier to understand the material. To overcome this problem, the community service activity implementation team implemented basic engineering learning media aimed for junior high and high school levels. The implementation methods included identifying partner problems, determining solutions, implementing media, monitoring, and compiling reports. The results of the implementation of this activity showed that the basic mechanical engineering learning media has been handed over to the partner on May 28, 2024, and training on how to operate the media has been carried out. This activity also received a positive response from the partner, because it made a significant contribution to improving the understanding and skills of students at SID in the field of mechanical engineering, as well as strengthening cooperation between Surabaya State University and SID in the field of education.

Abstract

Abstract

This community service program aims to strengthen the business capacity of a home-based industry producing school apparel and accessories by enhancing its production processes, financial management, and digital marketing skills. Implemented over an eight-month period, the program included a needs assessment, training, technology adoption, and mentoring activities. The training covered operation and maintenance of an automatic pneumatic hat molding machine, structured financial recording using accounting software, and digital branding through social media platforms. The program partner, U.D. International, is a home-based MSME in Sidoarjo that produces school uniforms and related accessories. Evaluation employed a pretest–posttest questionnaire using a 4-point Likert scale to assess changes in participants’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes across production, finance, and marketing. Comparative descriptive analysis measured performance improvements, while direct observation validated production gains through reduced cycle time and increased daily output. The pneumatic machine reduced production time from 60–80 seconds per unit to approximately 15 seconds, increasing daily production capacity by about 50% and improving product quality consistency. Financial management practices shifted from unrecorded and mixed personal–business transactions to a structured system with clear cash flow and profit–loss reporting. In marketing, the program facilitated brand identity creation, online presence, and social media content strategies, which significantly increased audience engagement and market reach. The results indicate that integrated interventions in technology, management, and branding can substantially enhance productivity, professionalism, and market competitiveness among MSMEs. This community empowerment model is expected to be replicable for similar small-scale industries pursuing sustainable growth.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance digital literacy among members of the Aisyiyah Community in Burneh Subdistrict and to support the realization of Indonesia’s Golden Generation 2045. The program was designed to equip participants with knowledge and skills in utilizing digital technology through a cybergogy-based learning approach. The implementation methods included planning, introduction, digital literacy training, collaborative practice, evaluation, and sustainable follow-up. A total of 37 community members participated, representing diverse backgrounds such as homemakers, entrepreneurs, and teachers. Evaluation instruments consisted of a pretest, a posttest, and a questionnaire administered via Google Forms. Statistical analysis revealed a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (Asymp. Sig. < 0.05). The average N-Gain score of 0.62 (moderate category) indicated an improvement in participants’ understanding. Participant responses were also positive, with an average Likert scale score of 3.25, reflecting tangible benefits from the training. A key success factor was the use of Smart TV media, which enabled facilitators to deliver content more interactively and engagingly. Additionally, the provision of rewards helped boost participant motivation. A follow-up impact of the program was the establishment of a smart classroom at TK ABA 4, serving as a sustainable outcome of the training. Overall, this community service activity effectively enhanced digital skills, learning motivation, and community engagement, while serving as a strategic model for integrating technology into community-based education in the digital era.
