The sample of this study were 14 people taken from the total athletes of UKM Petanque UIR. This study has 2 variables, namely arm muscle strength and Petanque shotting results. The instruments of these 2 variables include push ups and shooting petanque results. Based on the results of the research that has been done, the results of the calculations that have been carried out are the value of r count greater than r table or 0.606 > 0.53, meaning that there is a variable between arm muscle strength and the results of the Petanque shotting. The contribution of arm muscle strength to shooting accuracy is 36%, while the rest is influenced by other factors such as endurance, leg muscle strength, and other physical conditions in Petanque sports.

Abstract

Lower passing in volleyball is a fundamental skill for students, yet many struggle to master it. This study aims to enhance lower passing skills using the Jigsaw cooperative learning model. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) with two cycles. The participants were 29 students from Grade IX-3 at SMP Negeri 6 Siak Hulu, consisting of 16 male and 13 female students. Data were collected using observation sheets and lower passing skill tests. The analysis measured the percentage of students achieving mastery. The results showed a significant improvement in lower passing skills. In the first cycle, 58.62% of students met the mastery criteria. After refinements in the second cycle, the percentage increased to 96.55%, with 28 students reaching the Minimum Mastery Criteria (MMC). These findings confirm that the Jigsaw cooperative learning model enhances students' understanding of lower passing techniques, motivation, and participation. Future research could explore additional factors, such as training duration and variations in instructional strategies, to optimize the effectiveness of Jigsaw in sports education.

Abstract

The “Gerak Seru Anak TK” program was implemented to improve the gross motor skills of early childhood children. The main problems identified were low levels of physical activity among children due to limited facilities, academic dominance, and a lack of understanding among teachers. Activities were carried out through preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages using a fun physical play approach, such as cheerful fitness exercises, ball relays, and catch and throw games. The results of the activities showed an improvement in children's coordination, balance, and agility, as well as an increase in teachers' skills in designing movement activities. In addition, parents became more aware of the importance of physical activity for children. This program has proven to be effective in promoting the holistic development of early childhood through healthy and fun games.

Abstract

Motor competence is a crucial aspect of the development of elementary school-aged children. The Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) model is considered capable of improving motor skills through a contextual and participatory approach to play. However, empirical evidence in local contexts, particularly regarding the effectiveness of TGfU on locomotor and object control skills separately, as well as gender differences, remains limited. This study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design. A total of 54 fifth-grade students of SD Negeri 190 Pekanbaru participated in TGfU-based volleyball learning for 6 weeks (12 sessions). The Test of Gross Motor Development, Second Edition (TGMD-2) assessed locomotor and object control skills. Because the data were not normally distributed (Shapiro–Wilk p < 0.05), analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test. Results showed that TGfU was associated with improvements in overall motor competence (W = 3.5; z = –6.06; p < .001; Median = 4.0, 95% CI [3.5, 4.5], Effect Size = .99), locomotor skills (V1: W = 14; z = –5.47; p < .001; Median = 3.0, 95% CI [2.5, 3.5], Effect Size = .97), and object control skills (V2: W = 16; z = –5.80; p < .001; Median = 2.5, 95% CI [2.0, 3.0], Effect Size = .97). Female students showed greater improvement in locomotor aspects than males. Further research, employing a randomized controlled design and long-term retention testing, is recommended to strengthen the generalizability of these findings.
