Abstract

This study aims to analyze the social and economic impact of the Nusa Penida Festival on local communities in Nusa Penida, Bali. This annual festival showcases the cultural, artistic, and marine tourism of Nusa Penida, as well as the promotional media of the destinations and community empowerment. This study used a qualitative descriptive method and a case study approach. Data were collected through a literature review by examining various relevant secondary sources, such as scientific articles, government reports, and media publications. The results of the study showed that the Nusa Penida Festival has a positive contribution to local communities. From a socio-cultural perspective, this festival strengthens community identity and pride, encourages social participation, and increases awareness of the importance of cultural preservation. From an economic perspective, this festival encourages micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSMEs) activities, creates job opportunities, and increases local economic turnover. However, challenges such as decreased visitors, overtourism potential, and environmental pressure must be a concern in future management. Therefore, the Nusa Penida Festival must be directed toward the principle of sustainable tourism that emphasizes collaboration between government, community, and industrial actors so that the benefits can be distributed evenly and sustainably.

Abstract

This study analyzes the event experience of The Script’s Satellites World Tour at Jatim Expo, Surabaya, focusing on four key dimensions: affective engagement, cognitive engagement, physical engagement, and experiencing newness. Using a case study design with a descriptive qualitative approach, data were gathered through surveys and semi-structured interviews with five concert attendees. The findings highlight that the concert successfully delivered a memorable audience experience across all four dimensions, providing both entertainment and reflective value. Nonetheless, some weaknesses were identified, especially regarding the placement of the festival area, which limited visibility and reduced the emotional connection for certain audience members. Despite these challenges, the event effectively engaged attendees affectively, cognitively, and physically, while offering them a sense of novelty and excitement. To further improve future audience experiences, it is recommended that concert organizers assess and enhance the technical setup and venue layout to ensure better visibility and stronger engagement for all attendees.

Abstract

The Semarapura Festival is an annual cultural event organized by the Klungkung Regency Government through the Department of Tourism. The 7th Semarapura Festival in 2025 is held with the aim of strengthening local cultural identity while developing the community’s creative economy sector. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the 2025 Semarapura Festival as a cultural and creative economy event. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the Semarapura Festival plays an important role as a medium for cultural preservation through traditional art performances and activities based on local wisdom, as well as serving as a platform for creative economic development for MSME actors in the culinary and craft sectors. In addition, the festival also applies environmentally friendly innovations and digital promotion strategies through social media to expand audience reach. However, challenges such as parking areas, lack of shaded spaces, and waste management still need attention to optimize the festival in the future. Overall, Semarapura Festival in 2025 succeeds in becoming a model cultural event that integrates tradition preservation, creative economy empowerment, and environmental sustainability.

Abstract

This study investigates how poor households in the Tanjung Benoa Traditional Village in Bali navigated the socioeconomic collapse triggered by the Covid 19 interruption of tourism. Using a qualitative case study grounded in in-depth interviews, participant observation, and thematic analysis, the research introduces the concept of Dual Resilience to explain how communities endure chronic structural marginalisation while simultaneously responding to an acute crisis. The findings show that long-term tourism dependency, limited access to productive assets, and erosion of traditional livelihood spaces intensified the shock. Households adopted four interconnected strategies, namely subsistence economic diversification, limited occupational returns to fisheries, asset based coping, and collective cooperation embedded in customary social capital. Customary institutions emerged as the most effective support mechanism, while government and industry interventions were perceived as short term. The study advances a grassroots understanding of tourism vulnerability and highlights the need for more inclusive development pathways.

Abstract

This study examines the structural paradox between high tourist expenditure concentration and infrastructural accessibility constraints in the Gajah Mada Heritage Area, Denpasar. Drawing on secondary data from the 2025 Denpasar Tourist Expenditure Survey, the study analyses micro spending patterns, attraction preferences, and satisfaction with traffic conditions using descriptive and gap analysis approaches. Results reveal that retail spending accounts for 20 percent of average daily domestic tourist expenditure, with visitation to shopping zones exceeding 80 percent, confirming the area’s function as a cultural shopping district. However, 49 percent of domestic visitors report dissatisfaction with traffic congestion, indicating a critical accessibility deficit. Tourist interest in living heritage attractions significantly exceeds that of static historical sites, suggesting a shift toward performative authenticity. The findings demonstrate that spatial constraints generate implicit economic costs by limiting dwell time and consumption opportunities. Revitalization strategies must therefore prioritize walkability oriented planning to sustain economic vitality in urban heritage corridors.
