Abstract

Competency-based learning transformation requires the strengthening of numeracy and attention from elementary school through meaningful, safe, and measurable learning experiences. This study aimed to synthesize scientific evidence on the management of archery-based sport games and to verify its practical relevance through primary questionnaire data. A sequential exploratory mixed-methods design was employed. The first phase consisted of a systematic literature review conducted according to the PRISMA guidelines. A Scopus search identified 170 records, which were screened based on publication year, article type, language, access status, primary data orientation, and relevance to archery, target sports, physical education games, attention, and numeracy integration. A total of 25 articles were included in the narrative synthesis. The second phase was conducted using a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire administered to 25 elementary school physical education students who had experience in archery courses. The results showed very high internal consistency, with Cronbach’s alpha = 0.945. The overall item mean was 4.47 out of 5, the mean total score was 120.80 out of 135 with SD = 10.81, and 96.74% of responses were categorized as positive. The safety and readiness construct obtained the highest mean score (M = 4.75), followed by attention enhancement (M = 4.49), motivation and engagement (M = 4.49), game-based learning design (M = 4.42), numeracy integration (M = 4.38), and implementation feasibility (M = 4.34). The integration of both findings indicates that archery-based games have the potential to serve as a safe, engaging, and measurable physical education strategy for training focus and embedding contextual numeracy activities. However, claims regarding numeracy improvement still require direct experimental testing with elementary school students.

Abstract

Traditional dance is a dance that has certain rules that are passed down from generation to generation. To introduce Indonesian traditional dance to children, a fun training method is needed during training. This study aimed to improve children's traditional dance dancing skills through the dance training method with Playing Movement used during dance training. The study was conducted on 10 children, at Budi Mulia Kindergarten, South Tangerang. This study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) Model Kemis Taggart method. The instruments for the ability to dance traditional dances for children aged 5-6 years in this assessment are: 1) Ability to move to the rhythm of the music; 2) Balance of body movements; 3) Coordination of body movements; 4) Ability to perform dance movement forms; 5) Ability to follow dance movements completely; 6) Flexibility; and 7) Ability to express oneself while dancing. The training activities were carried out 10 times, for 4 weeks. The Play Movement Training method was used at the beginning of the training, or as a warm-up, and at the end of the training or cooling down. During the observation in the pre-cycle, the average ability of children was at the 28% stage, at the undeveloped stage. After training using the Movement Play Exercise method for 3 meetings in cycle 1, it increased to 49%, still at the beginning of development stage. In cycle 2, it increased to 65%, which was at the development stage according to expectations. In cycle 3, it increased to 89%, which was at the very well-developed stage. So it can be concluded that the Movement Play Exercise method can improve the ability to dance traditional dances of children aged 5-6 years at Budi Mulia Kindergarten, South Tangerang.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to examine the influence of Islamic ecological parenting on the sustainable education of Muslim diaspora children in Australia. Sustainable education in this study encompasses the cultivation of Islamic values, the development of environmentally responsible behaviours, and the enhancement of children's spiritual and social awareness within a multicultural context. Design/methodology/approach – A quantitative research approach with a descriptive explanatory survey design was employed. The study involved 170 Muslim diaspora parents with children aged 5–6 years residing in Sydney, Melbourne, and Queensland, Australia. Data were collected through a structured online questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modelling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Findings – The findings indicate that Islamic ecological parenting has a positive and statistically significant effect on children's sustainable education, with the structural model demonstrating substantial explanatory power. Core Islamic values, including trustworthiness (amanah), cleanliness (taharah), balance (mizan), compassion for all living beings (rahmah), and responsibility as stewards of the Earth (khalifah), significantly contribute to fostering sustainable behaviours from an early age. These findings highlight the strategic role of Muslim diaspora families as the primary educational environment for nurturing sustainability values grounded in Islamic teachings. Research implications/limitations – The study is limited to Muslim diaspora families with young children in three Australian states, which may restrict the generalizability of the findings to other age groups or cultural contexts. Future research is encouraged to include broader geographical coverage, longitudinal designs, and cross-cultural comparisons to further validate and extend these findings. Practical implications – The findings suggest that integrating Islamic ecological parenting into family education can strengthen children's environmental awareness, moral development, and sustainability-oriented behaviours. The study provides practical guidance for parents, educators, and policymakers seeking to promote sustainability education through faith-based parenting practices in multicultural societies. Originality/value – This study contributes to the literature by introducing and empirically validating Islamic ecological parenting as a significant predictor of sustainable education among Muslim diaspora children. It offers a novel perspective on how Islamic values can be integrated into sustainability education and provides both theoretical and practical insights for promoting environmentally responsible and socially conscious future generations in multicultural settings.
