Abstract

Habits of Mind (HoM) is an important thinking disposition that supports successful learning in higher education, especially in inquiry-based learning. This study aims to map the profile of students' habits of mind as a basis for developing inquiry-based learning strategies. The study used a quantitative descriptive approach involving 60 students in semesters I, III, V, and VII. Data were collected through an online questionnaire containing 16 indicators of habits of mind based on the Costa and Kallick framework, then analyzed using percentage scores based on semester and indicator. The results showed that students' habits of mind achievement was in the good category, with the highest scores in semesters I (81%) and VII (80%), while semesters III and V were in the sufficient category (74%). Indicators with the highest scores included listening with understanding and empathy (90%), striving for accuracy (85%), and persisting (84%), while the lowest scores were found in thinking flexibly (62%), thinking interdependently (69%), and finding humor (71%). These findings indicate that students possess strengths in perseverance, thoroughness, and empathy, but still need to strengthen their thinking flexibility and collaboration. Therefore, structured and collaborative inquiry-based learning is recommended to develop students' habits of mind in a more balanced manner.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to empower students through bouquet-making training in order to enhance creative skills, independence, and entrepreneurial interest from an early age. The program was implemented with 35 ninth-grade junior high school students and involved 3 accompanying teachers. The methods employed included demonstration, hands-on practice, intensive mentoring, and product evaluation. The outputs of the activity consisted of student-made bouquet products and a simple bouquet-making guide intended for further learning activities at school. The results showed that 90% of students were able to create bouquets independently with good quality, while several students demonstrated improved creativity through design variations and material combinations. Questionnaire responses indicated that 100% of participants were highly satisfied with the activity, and 80% expressed interest in continuing bouquet-making at home as a potential small-scale business opportunity. These findings suggest that creative, product-based skill training not only improves students’ technical competence and creativity but also effectively fosters entrepreneurial interest at an early stage.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) can be understood as a higher-level thinking ability that involves critical, logical, and creative thinking processes. This ability is reflected in cognitive activities such as analyzing, evaluating, and creating. The problem underlying this research is the still low level of higher-order thinking skills among students, which may affect their readiness to face various learning challenges in the 21st century. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of applying the mind mapping technique in improving students’ Higher Order Thinking Skills. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a nonequivalent control group design. The population of this study consisted of 239 eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 8 Mataram in the 2022/2023 academic year. The sample in this study consisted of 68 students, including 34 students in the experimental class and 34 students in the control class. The sample was determined using the simple random sampling technique. Data collection in this study used questionnaires as the main method, while observation, interviews, and documentation were used as supporting methods. Data analysis was conducted using the t-test to identify differences in HOTS abilities between the two groups. The results of the data analysis showed that the calculated tvalue (tcount) of 6.485 was greater than the ttable value at the 5% significance level, which was 2.262 (6.485 > 2.262). Therefore, H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the application of the mind mapping technique is proven to be effective in significantly improving the Higher Order Thinking Skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 8 Mataram in the 2022/2023 academic year. ABSTRAK Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) dapat dipahami sebagai kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi yang mencakup proses berpikir kritis, logis, serta kreatif. Kemampuan ini tercermin melalui aktivitas kognitif seperti menganalisis, mengevaluasi, dan menciptakan. Permasalahan yang melatarbelakangi penelitian ini adalah masih rendahnya kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi pada siswa, yang berpotensi memengaruhi tingkat kesiapan mereka dalam menghadapi berbagai tantangan pembelajaran di abad ke-21. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas penerapan teknik mind mapping dalam meningkatkan kemampuan Higher Order Thinking Skill pada siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan rancangan quasi experiment berupa nonequivalent control group design. Jumlah populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah 239 siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 8 Mataram pada Tahun Pelajaran 2022/2023. Jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 68 siswa, yang terdiri atas 34 siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan 34 siswa pada kelas kontrol. Penentuan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan angket sebagai metode utama, sedangkan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi dimanfaatkan sebagai metode pendukung. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji t-test untuk mengidentifikasi perbedaan kemampuan HOTS antara kedua kelompok. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa nilai thitung sebesar 6,485 lebih besar dari nilai nilai ttabel pada taraf signifikansi 5% yaitu 2,262 (6,485 > 2,262), sehingga H₀ ditolak dan Hₐ diterima. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan teknik mind mapping terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan Higher Order Thinking Skill siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 8 Mataram Tahun Pelajaran 2022/2023 secara signifikan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Based on the results of preliminary observations, eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Kuripan showed various academic problems related to emotional stability, such as feeling easily embarrassed, being moody, experiencing mood swings, and having difficulty controlling their emotions. These conditions affect students’ learning concentration, social interaction, and potential academic achievement. This study aims to determine the effect of the role playing technique on the emotional stability of eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Kuripan in the 2024/2025 academic year. This research employed a quantitative approach with a one group pre test post test design. The research subjects were students who had low levels of emotional stability based on the results of the initial measurement. The data collection technique used a questionnaire as the main instrument, supported by observation, interviews, and documentation. The obtained data were then analyzed using the t test formula to determine the difference in conditions before and after the treatment. The results of the analysis showed that the t value was 6.487, which was greater than the t table value of 1.943 at the 5 percent significance level, indicating an increase in students’ emotional stability after being given the treatment in the form of the role playing technique. These findings indicate that the implementation of the role playing technique in group guidance services is effective in helping students understand and manage their emotions more positively, thereby supporting the learning process and students’ adjustment in the school environment. ABSTRAK Berdasarkan hasil observasi awal, siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 4 Kuripan menunjukkan berbagai masalah akademik yang berkaitan dengan kestabilan emosi, seperti mudah merasa malu, murung, mengalami perubahan suasana hati, serta kesulitan mengendalikan emosi. Kondisi tersebut berdampak pada konsentrasi belajar, interaksi sosial, dan potensi pencapaian akademik siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh teknik role playing terhadap kestabilan emosi siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 4 Kuripan Tahun Pelajaran 2024/2025. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain one group pre-test post-test. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa yang memiliki tingkat kestabilan emosi rendah berdasarkan hasil pengukuran awal. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket sebagai instrumen utama yang didukung oleh observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis menggunakan rumus t-test untuk mengetahui perbedaan kondisi sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa nilai t-hitung sebesar 6,487 lebih besar daripada t-tabel sebesar 1,943 pada taraf signifikansi 5%, yang menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kestabilan emosi siswa setelah diberikan perlakuan berupa teknik role playing. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknik role playing dalam layanan bimbingan kelompok efektif membantu siswa dalam memahami dan mengelola emosi secara lebih positif sehingga dapat mendukung proses belajar dan penyesuaian diri di lingkungan sekolah.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study is motivated by the low level of students’ learning discipline, as reflected in delays in submitting assignments, lack of focus during lessons, and low academic responsibility influenced by peer environments. The study aims to analyze the effect of group counseling services on improving students’ learning discipline at SMAN 5 Mataram in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 10 students selected purposively based on their low level of learning discipline. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using a paired sample t-test after the prerequisite tests were fulfilled. The results showed that the value of tₕᵢₜᵤₙg = 7.138 was greater than tₜₐᵦₗₑ = 2.262 at a 5% significance level, indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. These findings confirm that group counseling is effective in improving students’ learning discipline through the utilization of group dynamics. Therefore, group counseling can be considered a relevant intervention strategy to develop students’ disciplined behavior and academic responsibility more optimally. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kedisiplinan belajar siswa yang tercermin dari keterlambatan pengumpulan tugas, kurangnya fokus saat pembelajaran, serta rendahnya tanggung jawab akademik yang dipengaruhi oleh lingkungan teman sebaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh layanan konseling kelompok terhadap peningkatan kedisiplinan belajar siswa di SMAN 5 Mataram tahun pelajaran 2024/2025. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain one group pretest-posttest. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 10 siswa yang dipilih secara purposive berdasarkan kategori kedisiplinan belajar rendah. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan angket, sedangkan analisis data menggunakan paired sample t-test setelah uji prasyarat terpenuhi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai t<sub>hitung</sub> = 7,138 lebih besar daripada t<sub>tabel</sub> = 2,262 pada taraf signifikansi 5%, yang berarti terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa layanan konseling kelompok efektif dalam meningkatkan kedisiplinan belajar siswa melalui pemanfaatan dinamika kelompok. Dengan demikian, konseling kelompok dapat dijadikan sebagai strategi intervensi yang relevan untuk mengembangkan perilaku disiplin dan tanggung jawab belajar siswa secara lebih optimal.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The decline in students’ academic achievement during the COVID-19 pandemic reflects a gap between academic demands and students’ psychological readiness, highlighting the need for appropriate counseling-based interventions. This study aims to analyze the effect of group counseling on improving the academic achievement of eleventh-grade students at SMKPP Negeri Mataram in the 2021/2022 academic year. An experimental approach was employed using a one-group pre-test–post-test design focusing on students identified as having low academic achievement as the intervention subjects. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test measures of academic achievement, and analyzed using a t-test. The results indicate that the calculated t-value (5.474) is higher than the t-table value (2.447) at a 5% significance level with 6 degrees of freedom, demonstrating a significant improvement in students’ academic achievement after the implementation of group counseling. Substantively, this improvement suggests that group dynamics, social interaction, and emotional support within the counseling process contribute to enhanced student motivation and learning engagement. Therefore, it can be concluded that group counseling has a significant effect on improving students’ academic achievement. The findings imply the importance of optimizing group counseling services as an adaptive intervention strategy to address learning challenges during crisis situations and provide practical guidance for school counselors in designing more effective and contextual services. ABSTRAK Rendahnya prestasi belajar siswa selama pandemi COVID-19 mencerminkan adanya kesenjangan antara tuntutan akademik dan kesiapan psikologis siswa, sehingga diperlukan intervensi yang tepat dan berbasis layanan bimbingan konseling. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh konseling kelompok terhadap peningkatan prestasi belajar siswa kelas XI di SMKPP Negeri Mataram Tahun Pelajaran 2021/2022. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan desain one group pre-test–post-test yang difokuskan pada siswa dengan prestasi belajar rendah sebagai subjek intervensi. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes prestasi belajar sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan, sedangkan analisis data dilakukan dengan uji t (t-test). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa nilai t-hitung sebesar 5,474 lebih besar dibandingkan t-tabel sebesar 2,447 pada taraf signifikansi 5% dengan derajat kebebasan (db) = 6, yang mengindikasikan adanya peningkatan prestasi belajar setelah diberikan layanan konseling kelompok. Secara substantif, peningkatan ini menunjukkan bahwa dinamika kelompok, interaksi sosial, serta dukungan emosional dalam proses konseling berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan motivasi dan keterlibatan belajar siswa. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa konseling kelompok berpengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan prestasi belajar siswa. Implikasi penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya optimalisasi layanan konseling kelompok sebagai strategi intervensi yang adaptif dalam mengatasi dampak pembelajaran pada masa krisis, serta dapat menjadi rujukan bagi guru BK dalam merancang layanan yang lebih efektif dan kontekstual.
