Abstract

Wilayah pesisir merupakan wilayah tempat aktivitas manusia paling banyak dilakukan. Kota Bengkulu merupakan salah satu kota yang berada pada wilayah pesisir Sumatera dengan pertumbuhan penduduk yang tinggi.  Pertumbuhan penduduk yang tinggi tersebut. kemudian meningkatkan kebutuhan akan ruang dan lahan yang dapat berdampak pada penurunan daya dukung lingkungan sehingga diperlukan prediksi terhadap ketersediaan lahan salah satunya dengan pemodelan Cellular Automata yang dapat menggabungkan dimensi spasial dan temporal. Tujuan tulisan ini adalah mengkaji kelebihan, keterbatasan dan solusi strategis dalam penggunaan pemodelan Cellular Automata untuk memprediksi perkembangan lahan terbangun pada kawasan pesisir khususnya Kota Bengkulu. Keunggulan penggunaan Cellular Automata dalam memprediksi perkembangan lahan terbangun antara lain digunakan memprediksi perubahan sistem dinamik yang bergantung pada aturan sederhana dan berkembang hanya menurut aturan tersebut dari waktu ke waktu. Keterbatasan Celluar Automata terdapat pemodelan yang tidak memberikan informasi penyebab tumbuhnya yaitu hubungan kekerabatan antar variable terikat dan variabel bebasnya. Solusi strategis dalam mengatasi keterbatasan pemodelan Cellular Automata yang terbatas hanya pada variabel fisik adalah mengkolaborasikan dengan model lainnya, salah satunya pemodelan sistem dinamik. Pemodelan ini dapat memperhitungkan variabel bebas seperti variabel kependudukan yang sangat dinamis. Variabel kependudukan tersebut dapat berupa pertumbuhan penduduk, angka kelahiran, angka kematian, angka migrasi masuk, angka migrasi keluar dan tekanan penduduk.Kata kunci: celular automata, daya dukung lahan, lahan terbangun, pesisir, sistem dinamik

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is an individual's capacity to identify and understand this world by playing the role of mathematics to build a strong stance, and involving mathematics according to individual needs as constructive, caring, and reflective citizens. both for the present life and for the life to come. With the target of mathematics literacy, if the learning that leads to the achievement of mathematics literacy has to change again, it is almost certain that mathematics literacy will not be achieved. The experience of participating in PISA since 2000, for every three years, Indonesian children are only satisfied with a math score of 371 (in 2000), 360 (in 2003), 391 (in 2006), 371 (in 2009), 375 (in 2009). in 2012), and 386 (2015) and 379 (2018); Indonesian children's mathematics achievement was ranked 39th out of 41 participating countries (in 2000), 38 out of 40 countries (in 2003), ranked 50 out of 57 participants (2006), ranked 61 out of 65 participating countries (in 2009) , ranking 64 out of 65 participants (in 2012), ranking 64 out of 70 countries (in 2015) while the average International mathematics score is 500.

Abstract

The State Elementary School (SD) of 2 Lontar is the closest school to the UPI Marine Station, Serang Campus, which is located in Lontar, Tirtayasa District, Serang Regency. Based on interviews with classroom teachers there, most said that mathematics is the most difficult subject to teach, especially in the form of story questions. Many students are fooled and wrong in answering the question form. Especially during a pandemic like now which presents its challenges for teachers there, both in terms of material delivery, media selection, and assessment. On the other hand, mathematical literacy (numerical literacy) is a criterion that is used as an assessment in the Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM).  Referring to this, researchers will conduct community service with the target of SDN Lontar 2 teachers as an effort to improve the quality of learning, especially mathematics lessons with situational-based learning. The steps that the researcher will take are needs analysis and literature study followed by strategy formulation, implementation, direct practice, evaluation, and follow-up. The strategies compiled will be related to language skills which are a means of communication between teachers and students. The result of this empowerment is planting to identify problems and problem-solving strategies for elementary school children. The follow-up program invites teachers to continuously improve and implement situational-based learning. Teachers' understanding of the application of communicatively oriented mathematics learning methods has proven to increase after the training and the results of monitoring the implementation have also been observed

Abstract

Preventing community from hoaxes is essential in the information disruptive era. During the social distancing policy due to COVID-19 outbreaks, the hoaxes deployment was raised in line with the high social media utilization.  School community is one of the susceptible societies on hoaxes deployment. This community service program aimed to train the school community a skill to identify and report hoax information using critical discourse analysis assisted by ICT tools. The program was conducted in Pilot Laboratory Elementary School of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia at Serang Campus. The location was selected based on the preliminary assessment on the high risk of hoaxes deployment among the teacher and students’ parents during the learning from home activity. The program was executed in a seminar and workshop of optimizing critical discourse analysis using ICT. The program was developed by ASSURE model adapted in Pre-Program, In-Program, and Post-Program activities. The result of this empowerment was the instillment of identifying and reporting the hoaxes information. After the program, the participations were able to analyze the hoxes information characteristics and utilize android-based software to report it to the authorized party. The follow up program was invited the community to be a part of anti-hoax citizen community

Abstract

Sungai Cibanten dulu berfungsi sebagai urat nadi kehidupan: perdagangan, pengairan, dan ekspresi budaya. Cibanten kini sedang sekarat: sungai sempit, bibir sungai menjadi tempat pembuangan sampah, limbah rumah tangga, dan lain-lain. Fokus pengabdian adalah pada penyadaran masyarakat di daerah aliran Sungai Cibanten terhadap kelestarian lingkungan Sungai Cibanten melalui pendekatan aksi, edukasi, dan fasilitasi. Dimulai dengan aksi pembersihan daerah aliran Sungai Cibanten dan audiensi ke perguruan tinggi. Dilanjutkan dengan edukasi berupa sosialisasi jenis-jenis sampah dan pengelolaan sampah. Dituntaskan dengan fasilitasi melalui pemberian sarana dan prasarana pendukung untuk pengelolaan sampah yang pengadaannya turut dibantu oleh DLH Kota Serang. Adapun luaran berupa 1) artikel yang akan dimuat di prosiding, 2) berita yang telah dimuat di 6 media massa diantaranya: Koran Kabar Banten, Majalah Teras, Berita UPI, Web UPI Serang, IG Prokasih Cibanten, dan Facebook Prokasih Cibanten. 3) Pemakalah di Forum yang dilaksanakan di Seminar Pendidikan Dasar 5, serta 4) Buku yang saat ini sedang dalam proses pembuatan dan akan di HAKI-kan. Secara umum pengabdian ini berhasil membangkitkan partisipasi dan penyadaran masyarakat terhadap upaya untuk kelestarian daerah aliran Sungai Cibanten. Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) the effectiveness of online English learning program implementation during the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of the context component (X1; (2) the effectiveness of online English learning program implementation during the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of the input component (X2); and (3) the effectiveness of online English learning program implementation during the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of the output component (X3). (4) the effectiveness of the online English learning program implementation during the COVID-19 pandemic from the product component; (5) the effectiveness of the implementation of online English learning programs during the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of the context (X1), inputs, processes, and product components; and (6) obstacles that impede the implementation of online English learning programs during the Covid-19. Data was gathered through the use of a questionnaire completed by 250 respondents. And the research sample consisted of 50 students chosen at random. after the data analysis results are transformed to a T-score and then enter the Glickman quadrant for evaluating the online English learning program's performance. The findings indicated that the CIPP score on the Glickman Quadrant (-+++) reflects a successful implementation of the online English learning program. They discovered a number of impediments to online English instruction, including the following: 1) Restrictions on media, network, or internet signals, as well as student internet quotas; and provision of customized internet quotas to assist students with specific learning requirements. 2) Student dissatisfaction with online education and a desire to meet in person on a permanent basis, comparable to the pre-pandemic era. 3) Due to the pandemic's prolonged presence, students' passion for studying has waned.

Abstract

This study aims at analyzing difficulties, identifying the support and needs of lecturers in academic writing, also lecturers’ perceptions toward the potential of the MBKM program to strengthen academic writing activities during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study employed a quantitative approach with historical survey methods and a descriptive study design. The data were collected utilizing multiple-choice questionnaires and descriptions along with Focus Group Discussions (FGD) activities. The subjects of this study were 45 lecturers from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) Serang Campus and Universitas Banten Jaya. The data were analyzed interactively based on theoretical propositions which were divided into 2 cases, namely opportunities and challenges with 4 aspects of discussion, such as difficulties, support, needs, and potential for the MBKM program. The results showed that most of the lecturers experienced difficulties in funding as well as the skills to express ideas and find suitable sources even though their productivity was still quite good. The institutional support in terms of funding and referral sources is still there however the number is decreasing. Nevertheless, language training and facilitation are prominently required. The lecturers’ need to support their academic writing activities is writing training and collaboration across departments as well as study programs. Their activeness in participating MBKM program correlates with their writing productivities also in lecturers’ exchange activities and collaborative research as well. The number and activities in academic writing need to be elevated to help productivity in academic writing during the Covid-19 pandemic. The MBKM program has the potential to accommodate these requirements.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the perspectives of ECE-TEP students regarding the deepening of tenses through the MBKM English Credential Camp program at UPI Serang. The challenges of education in the modern 21st century push ECE-TEP students to possess English communication skills. This is important because English is an international language. The use of English tenses by ECE-TEP students often requires appropriate understanding and training. The ECC program is an integrated and holistic solution to enhance the use of tenses by ECE-TEP students. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study. The primary data sources are direct questionnaires, audio recorders, and secondary data in the form of MBKM ECC program documents. Data analysis was conducted through four stages: data collection, data transcription, data categorization, and drawing conclusions. The research subjects consist of three individuals who are students of the ECC program. Participants are selected based on their academic performance in the program. The research findings indicate that the ECC program significantly contributes to improving the understanding of tenses among ECE-TEP students. This program is effective in preparing students to face the challenges of the 21st century through deepening  improving their English language skills.

Abstract

This study aimed to: i) explore the worklife areas, mental health, and job burnout among Thai and Indonesian teachers; ii) investigate the roles of worklife areas on mental health and burnout; and iii) compare the two groups of teachers. The participants consisted of 340 teachers (210 Thai teachers and 130 Indonesian teachers) who voluntarily responded to the online questionnaire. The instruments for data collection included the depression anxiety stress scales-21, the areas of worklife survey, and the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Educators Survey. Frequency, mean, standard deviation, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis were utilized to analyze the data. The results revealed that the mean scores for six areas of worklife were comparable across the two groups, whereas the mean scores for mental health and job burnout were distinct. In addition, it was discovered that teachers’ worklife could predict their mental health and job burnout in Thailand and Indonesia. However, the predictive patterns varied for each scale of mental health and burnout, as well as across the two groups. The study’s findings shed light on the impacts of workplace factors on teachers’ mental well-being.

Abstract

The Covid-19 outbreak has impacted research since the government employs social distancing and physical distancing. As a matter of fact, the data collection process should use technology. This article aims to reveal the use of social media technology as a research tool during the pandemic time. This study focused on the potential and challenges of using social media in the educational research field. Basically, social media can be freely used by various circles, both in terms of cost and time spent. In addition, looking at the economic conditions during the declining Covid-19 pandemic, making social media can be used as an alternative tool compared to other technological platforms. Based on these facts, the authors are interested in studying social media as an alternative research tool in favor of the Covid-19 policy. This study revealed the high potential of social media use (Youtube, Instagram, and WhatsApp) in educational research. The low-cost feature of social media made this alternative should be considered although having some challenges. This study promoted social media as one of the alternative troubleshooting educational researches during the COVID-19 period. The research hopefully contributed to the development of technology for research at the limitation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
