Abstract

The objective of this research was to examine the themes of redemption and heroism in two Arabic fairy tales, "Al-Najm al-Kabīr" and "Fī Jazīrah al-Nūr," and their implications for sustainable development. The research aimed to investigate how the protagonist's journey in these fairy tales reflected Arab societal values and personal growth. The data collection method employed a thematic analysis approach and narrative theory, with two Arabian fairytales serving as the primary sources. The research findings indicated that these tales were not only entertaining but also demonstrated profound moral values and their relevance to the current cultural and social context. The conclusions of this research emphasise the significance of fairy tales as agents of positive social and cultural change. The scientific contribution of this research is a novel understanding of the role of fairy tales in the education of universal values and moral awareness. The limitations of the study include a narrow focus on specific Arabian fairytales and a particular theoretical approach, which suggests further research with a broader scope and integration of cross-disciplinary approaches. Suggestions for further research include deepening understanding of how fairy tales can support sustainable development goals through moral education and environmental awareness in a global society.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of viral humanitarian imagery, focusing on the AI-generated image campaign with the hashtag #AllEyesonRafah on global social media dynamics. It explores how the imagery influences public awareness and encourages responses to humanitarian issues in Rafah, Palestine. The study aims to identify a pattern linking social media use to social mobilization driven by humanitarian imagery. Data were collected through analysis of digital content posted by public figures and humanitarian organizations, employing a qualitative approach informed by relevant communication theories. Primary sources included posts by public figures such as Bella Hadid, Ariana Grande, and Paramore, which significantly increased engagement. The analysis integrates three theories: Mark Granovetter’s Social Network Theory to examine the viral spread of AI-generated imagery on platforms like X, Instagram, and TikTok; Stuart Hall’s Representation Theory to analyze global public interpretations of these images; and Marshall McLuhan’s “Medium is the Message” Theory to assess how social media platforms and visual formats shape perception of the Rafah crisis. Findings indicate that viral humanitarian imagery not only raises awareness but also drives tangible global audiences. The study confirms social media’s role as an agent of social change, with its novelty lying in the detailed explanation of emotions in visual communication. The limitations of this study include the focus on one aspect of social media and the lack of longitudinal analysis, while suggestions for further research include a broader exploration of audience interactions and offline dimensions of similar phenomena.

Abstract

The "All Eyes on Rafah" campaign, featuring an AI-generated image of a refugee tent formation spelling out the campaign's name, has emerged as a pivotal instance of global digital advocacy. This study examines the campaign in the context of Israel's devastating bombing of Palestinian refugee tents in Rafah, which resulted in significant civilian casualties. The research investigates how digital media and AI-generated imagery shape international humanitarian responses. Employing a qualitative, descriptive, and interdisciplinary approach, the study analyzes primary data sources through various theoretical frameworks, including viral images and news reports. The findings illuminate the transformative role of digital advocacy in influencing global perceptions and mobilizing humanitarian action, highlighting the potential of AI in such campaigns. This research contributes valuable insights to the media, political communication, and international relations fields. However, it is limited by its focus on a single case, indicating the necessity for further exploration of AI's broader implications in media and communication. Keywords: Humanitarian Crisis; Digital Advocacy; All Eyes on Rafah; Campaign.

Abstract

This research examines a crucial problem in women's fiqh education at Madrasah Aliyah: the dominance of normative-textual approaches that provide minimal space for critical dialogue on contemporary social dynamics and female identity. The study aims to design an integrated learning model for women's fiqh through a combination of Islamic Gender Education Theory, Inquiry-Based Learning, and Islamic Character Strengthening Philosophy. Data collection methods included online surveys via Google Forms, analysis of Grade XI fiqh textbooks, and examination of the classical text Ris?lah al-Ma???. Data analysis employed three theoretical frameworks: Sharia contextualism according to Zainah Anwar, inquiry cycle theory by Margus Pedaste, and personality transformation philosophy by Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas.Research findings reveal that although the majority of students perceive menstrual regulations as fair, their understanding remains static without critical reflection on cultural and gender contexts. The integration of these three approaches proved effective in creating a more participatory, inclusive, and meaningful learning experience. The study concludes that a paradigm shift is necessary—from information transfer to transformative educational processes. Research limitations include a narrow geographical scope and a predominantly female respondent base. The novelty of this research lies in its multi-dimensional integration approach, which has not been widely explored in academic literature. Recommendations for future research include direct implementation testing across diverse regions and the development of specific Islamic character assessment instruments tailored to women's fiqh education contexts. This model is expected to serve as an alternative learning approach that is more responsive to the needs and social realities of contemporary Muslim women, bridging traditional Islamic scholarship with modern pedagogical methodologies while maintaining religious authenticity and promoting gender-sensitive understanding

Abstract

This article aims to comprehensively reveal the method of Tafsir al-Maudu’iy in Al-Fatihah Verse. The article adheres to conventional academic structure and employs clear, objective, and value-neutral language. The object of this study is Karim Amsansaf’s Suratu al-Fatihah: Tafsir Maudu’iy fi Daui ‘Ibadati al-Du’ai, Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-’Aziz al-’Awajiy’s al-Tafsir al-Maudu’iy al-Muyassar li al-Fatihah wa Qasari al-Mufassali, and the book titled Ila al Qur’an al-Karim, written by Muhammad al-Ghazali and Mahamud Shaltut, attempts to examine various legacies of tafsir works that are rarely researched by the public. An examination of the three tafsir shows differences in their interpretive products, with a focus on revealing in-depth thematic aspects on the intrinsic and extrinsic side, as stated by Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-’Aziz al-’Awajiy. The text discusses the principles of thematic interpretation in Tafsir Maudu’iy, with a focus on the thematics expressed by Karim Amsansaf. The discussion is aimed at beginner readers or lay people and is presented in a simple manner. The text also mentions the use of the thematic tafsir method and its application to the interpretation of Al-Fatihah.

Abstract

In an effort to avoid the negative effects of modern globalization on the existence of a scientific discipline, such as the science of Arabic, it is important to make Arabic contribute to presenting Arabic as a medium in photographing various social phenomena of modern society. This study presents a systematic literature review on the topic of 'Arabic Language as a Window in Viewing the World.' It is based on the primary source dissertation 'Literature and Nationalism: A Study of the Poems of Mahjar 'Alī Aḥmad Bākathīr' by Minatur Rokhim (2021). The purpose of this systematic literature review (SLR) is to reconstruct the theoretical and practical understanding of Arabic as a window for viewing the world. This will be achieved by analysing the substance and principles of the dissertation. This study concludes that incorporating environmental needs and interests, both locally and nationally, can position Arabic language knowledge as an asset in promoting global unification in a scientific, applied, and commercial manner.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the effective role of multidisciplinary perspectives in the study of women’s fiqh. Data collection methods included a questionnaire to 112 Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Buleleng and one of Madrasahs Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Jakarta (whose name was not mentioned based on the request of the Head of the Madrasah in Jakarta) students, in-depth interviews, and analysis of Fiqh textbook documentation. Data were analyzed using a theoretical framework that combines Ahmed's Islamic feminism, Ainscow's inclusive education, and Crenshaw's intersectionality. Key findings reveal a gap between theoretical acceptance of menstrual rules (91.1%) and their practical implementation (82.1%), as well as the lack of representation of feminist and intersectional perspectives in the official curriculum. This study contributes to the development of a new analytical framework that integrates three theoretical approaches to understand the complexity of teaching women's fiqh. Limitations of the study include a limited sample size and a narrow focus on the issue of menstruation. Further research is recommended to expand the geographic scope, explore other aspects of women's fiqh, and conduct longitudinal studies to understand the long-term impact of women's understanding of fiqh on students' religious and social practices.

Abstract

Human creativity extensively uses language to transform values, particularly through picture storybooks. "Qissat Asḥāb al-Fīl" (The Story of the Elephant Army) by Muhammad Abbas Al-Mubarak narrates the Asḥāb al-Fīl story, embedding various values, notably assertiveness. This study employs a descriptive qualitative analysis using content analysis to examine assertive characteristics in the storybook. Through denotative and connotative approaches, thirteen sentences exhibiting assertive traits were identified; eight sentences describe courage, one sentence describes responsibility, and four sentences describe desire. The findings indicate that "Qissat Asḥāb al-Fīl" promotes assertiveness, crucial for children's character development. This research underscores the potential of storybooks in fostering assertive behavior by enhancing readers' understanding of communication and recognizing linguistic nuances that convey assertiveness. Thus, this study contributes to the discourse on the educational value of storybooks in character building.

Abstract

This study analyzes the representation of environmental resilience in two modern Arabic novels—Hānī al-Rāhib's Al-Wabā' and Ḥannā Mīnah's al-Maṣābīḥ al-Zurq—by focusing the unit of analysis on narrative elements such as characters, settings, symbolic events, and ecological metaphors that describe the community's response to environmental pressures. The purpose of this research is to explore how the representation of literature can enhance the understanding of sustainability dynamics relevant to rural development. Using a qualitative-descriptive method, this study applies three analytical approaches: ecocriticism, environmental sociology, and the Sustainable Livelihoods Framework. The findings suggest that figures such as al-Shaikh and Sheikh Abdel Jawad represent a shift away from traditional agrarian values to new forms of adaptation shaped by political instability, resource scarcity, and changes in social structures. Both novels reveal patterns of vulnerability, resilience, and livelihood strategies that reflect real processes in dealing with environmental changes. The contribution of this research lies in the designation of the role of literary works as a medium that reflects ecological pressures, as well as a conceptual tool that can enrich cross-disciplinary discussions on sustainability and provide interpretive insights that complement empirical studies of rural development.
