Abstract

This study aims to analyze differences in the financial performance of banks in Indonesia using the profitability ratios of Return on Assets (ROA) and Net Interest Margin (NIM). The method used in this study used a different paired sample t-test. The results of research on the financial performance of banks in Indonesia using the ROA and NIM ratios show differences in banks' financial performance before and during the covid-19 pandemic. Statistical results show a decline in banks' financial performance in Indonesia before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The decline in financial performance during the pandemic is inevitable, not only from the banking sector. Indonesian banks are not yet effective enough in using assets to generate profits during the pandemic, and weak credit growth so that the allocation of third party funds are placed more in State Securities (SBN) is one of the causes. Keywords: Profitability Ratio, ROA, NIM, Covid-19

Abstract

This study examines the strategic role of Sharia People's Financing Banks (BPRS) in supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as a driver of Indonesia's economic recovery in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite having a smaller share of total financing than Islamic Commercial Banks, BPRS plays a crucial role in reaching underserved microeconomic segments. Previous studies have shown that MSMEs are the backbone of the Indonesian economy, yet their access to financing remains limited. This research uses a qualitative method with a field approach through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis in selected regions. The findings show that BPRS financing has significantly contributed to MSME resilience and job creation, yet the sector still faces regulatory and policy challenges. Therefore, optimizing BPRS’ contribution requires legal frameworks that support risk mitigation, sustainability, and inclusive economic growth.

Abstract

Purpose: This research aims to analyze the impact of the global pandemic on the operations, sustainability, and growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and examine the role of MSME financing from the perspective of Islamic economic theory as an instrument to support the recovery and sustainability of MSME businesses during the pandemic.Design/methodology: This research employs a qualitative approach to explore the impact of the global pandemic on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the role of technology and Islamic financing. The study involves 15 MSME owners and managers, utilizing semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions for data collection.Findings The research found that the global pandemic caused a significant decline in MSME revenues and activities, especially in Bandar Lampung City and West Lampung Regency with a 30-40 percent decline. Key factors include decreased demand, supply chain disruptions and social restrictions. While some MSMEs are turning to digital technology to adapt, many rely on self-financing rather than bank loans. Islamic finance principles have the potential to support the recovery of MSMEs, but the low utilization of Islamic financing points to the need to improve Islamic finance literacy and accessibility.Practical Implications: Based on the finding that MSMEs that quickly adopt digital technologies are able to survive better during the pandemic, the government and relevant agencies should develop more widespread and affordable digital literacy programs. These programs should be designed to improve the technological skills of MSME players, including the use of e-commerce, digital marketing and digital financial platforms. This will help MSMEs to be more competitive and flexible in the face of market changes.Originality/Value: This research is unique because it combines an Islamic perspective, particularly in Islamic financing, with an analysis of business technology in the midst of a global crisis such as the pandemic

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) make a large economic contribution to the country and act as an important catalyst for the growth of people's income. Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have a significant impact in driving innovation, reducing unemployment, and increasing compensation due to their tendency to integrate their employees. This article aims to analyze strategies that can be implemented by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to overcome operational challenges and secure their business continuity in the long term amidst a business environment characterized by global competition. In addition, it is important for the government to actively encourage the sustainability of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. This goal can be achieved through various methods, such as establishing appropriate fiscal policies, facilitating the development of strong infrastructure, and offering training opportunities. This research uses quantitative research methodology, utilizing descriptive techniques to explain and communicate the results. By complementing primary data obtained through administering questionnaires with secondary data obtained from previous investigations, this research increases the completeness of its analysis. To achieve this goal, MSME players need to consider many elements such as advances in technology and transportation, competition in the free market, and effective marketing techniques. If these variables are used effectively and receive sufficient government support, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) do not need to worry about the long-term sustainability of their businesses. Apart from that, the country's economy as a whole will also experience positive growth and development.

Abstract

Used cooking oil, which is often disposed of as household waste, can cause negative environmental impacts if not managed properly. To address this issue, a community service program was carried out through training on producing environmentally friendly candles made from used cooking oil for housewives in Karanganyar Hamlet, Mungkung Village, Kalikajar District, Wonosobo Regency. The aim of this program was to raise community awareness of household waste management while providing practical skills that are useful for daily needs and potential small-scale businesses. The method included socialization about the dangers of used oil, demonstrations of candle-making techniques, and direct practice by participants using simple and easily available tools and materials. The results showed that participants successfully produced candles independently and were enthusiastic about replicating the process at home. Some participants even expressed interest in developing this skill into a home-based business. Thus, the program proved effective in empowering the community, reducing environmental pollution, and opening opportunities for improving family income.
