Abstract

This study aims to examine the interaction of elderly individuals in learning to read the Qur’an, particularly in the context of the implementation of Surah Al-Qamar, verse 17. It also analyzes the teaching strategies employed, the symbolic interaction between participants and the Qur’an, and the learning motivation among elderly learners. This research was conducted at Pondok Pesantren Hidayatul Hidayah, located in Dusun Mojogeneng, Desa Mojogeneng, Kecamatan Jatirejo, Kabupaten Mojokerto, East Java. The pesantren provides Qur’anic learning programs for elderly learners in a supportive and age-friendly environment. This study adopts a qualitative approach utilizing a case study method with data obtained through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing to interpret the interaction of elderly learners in Qur’anic education. The findings reveal that applying the values contained in Surah Al-Qamar:17 strengthens participants’ faith and perseverance in learning the Qur’an. Meanwhile, adaptive teaching strategies that align with the characteristics of older adults play a crucial role in maintaining their motivation. The symbolic interaction developed between the participants and the Qur’an provides profound spiritual and emotional meaning, serving as a key driver for the continuity of learning in old age. The study also reveals that the motivation of elderly learners is not solely intrinsic but is also influenced by social support from their surrounding environment. However, the study's limitation lies in its focus on a single research site and its reliance on subjectively interpreted qualitative data, which should be considered when generalizing the findings. These results are expected to serve as a foundation for developing more effective and compassionate methods of Qur’anic instruction for elderly learners.

Abstract

Ma'na cum maghzāh approach initiated by Prof. Sahiron Syamsuddin. This research is based on the understanding that fasting is not just a ritual of holding back hunger and thirst, but rather a form of worship that contains deep spiritual, social, and moral dimensions. Through the ma'na cum maghzāh method, this article explores the literal meaning (ma'na) of the verse and explores the goals, wisdom, and moral messages (maghzāh) that are relevant to the challenges of contemporary life. The results of the study show that fasting, as mandated in the Qur'an, has the ultimate goal of achieving piety, which is not only vertical (relationship with Allah) but also horizontal (social relations). This approach interprets fasting as a means of tazkiyatun nafs (purification of the soul) and character formation that has implications for the creation of spiritual and social awareness, fostering empathy, justice, self-control, and social solidarity. This article concludes that a contextual understanding of fasting through the lens of ma'na cum maghzāh can present a more applicable and transformative meaning of worship for Muslims in facing the complexities of modern life.

Abstract

Envy (Hasad) is a psychological illness with significant psychological, moral, and social impacts. It is a spiritual disease that can lead to various forms of evil, such as slander, ridicule, humiliation, and persecution. This study examines the problematics of hasad from the perspective of the Qur'an using the Tafsir Maqashidi approach, a method of interpretation that emphasizes the objectives and wisdom (maqashid) behind Islamic teachings. The Qur'an highlights the roots, manifestations, and impacts of hasad, while also providing spiritual guidance for overcoming and preventing it. The central issues addressed in this research are: What forms of problematics arise from hasad in life according to the Qur'anic perspective? How does the concept of Maqashid Asy-Syari'ah in Qur'anic verses about hasad relate to the issues caused by it? The objectives of this research are to identify and analyze the various forms of problematics caused by hasad in daily life based on the Qur'anic perspective. Furthermore, the study aims to explain the concept of Maqashid Asy-Syari'ah in Qur'anic verses related to hasad and how this concept provides solutions to the issues arising from it. Additionally, the research seeks to reveal the relevance of the Qur'anic teachings in addressing the negative impacts of hasad, both at the individual and social levels.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the paradigm of sleep in the Qur'an through a comparative method (tafsir muqorain) between Tafsir An-Nur by Hasby Ash-Siddiqye and Tafsir Fathul Qodir by Imam Asy-Syaukani. The focus of this research is to analyze the concept of sleep from several key verses, namely: QS. An- Naba’ : 9, QS. Az- Zumar : 42, QS. Al – Isra’ : 79. This study is very important because sleep is not just a biological phenomenon, but also has spiritual significance in Islam, where the Qur'an views sleep as a sign of God's power, a form of mercy, and a time for worship. The method used is muqorain interpretation, comparing the interpretations of both mufassir regarding the verses that discuss sleep. This approach allows researchers to explore the tendencies of both interpreters by comparing their backgrounds, scholarly expertise, and other factors. The research results show a difference in the approach of the two mufassir, where Hasby tends to prioritize a contextual modernist approach, while Asy-Syaukani emphasizes a classical textual approach. Both approaches contribute to enriching the understanding of the concept of sleep in Islam, both from physiological and spiritual aspects. The conclusion of this research emphasizes that the muqorain method is not only relevant for understanding the diversity of interpretations but also beneficial in building critical awareness of various perspectives. Through the comparison of interpretations, this research presents a more holistic understanding of the concept of sleep in the Qur'an, making it applicable in the context of modern life.

Abstract

Nasab determines the part of inheritance, guardianship, nurturing, nurturing and things related to it. Without a nasab relationship, many things will be difficult to solve. Children resulting from adultery are considered legally invalid because adultery is considered an act that is not halal and violates the provisions of sharia. In this case, the child does not have the legal nasab of his biological father if sufficient evidence shows that the child is the result of adultery. In Islam, a child born from an extramarital relationship is considered not to have a nasab (lineage) relationship with his biological father, but only with his mother. Therefore, there are two differences of opinion of mufassir about the nasab of adultery children The purpose of this study is to find out how different opinions are about the nasab of adultery children according to Al-Qurthubu and Wahbah Zuhaili. This study uses a comparative research method with a qualitative approach, namely by looking for differences contained in various primary and secondary sources and exploring and describing the research with a description of differences of opinion about the nasab of the child of adultery Imam Al-Qurthubi argues about the fate of the child of adultery that the child born from the result of adultery does not follow his father but follows his mother, If the child is born to a woman, then he cannot be the guardian in his marriage and can be married by the husband of the mother. According to Wahbah Zuhaili, children born from adultery are haram to marry a man from the mother because the man is still included in the category of mushoharoh. Marriage of a pregnant woman because adultery is allowed. If she gives birth to a child after six months of the marriage contract, her destiny will be to that man. If it is less than six months from the time of the marriage contract, then it is not given to him unless the man makes a vow that the child is his child and does not explain that the child is not from adultery.

Abstract

Surah al-Fatihah is known by various other names. First, Surah al-fatihah, this surah is the opening surah of the Qur'an and is read in every prayer, as explained by Ath-Thabari. Second, Ummul Kitab, which means "Mother of the Book," this surah covers the essence of the teachings of the Qur'an. In this surah al-fatihah, there is also praise to Allah, recognition of His power, devotion to Him, obedience to His commands and prohibitions, and a request to be guided to His pleasure. The name "um" in Arabic is often used to refer to something that encompasses a variety of things. During life, whether consciously or unconsciously, the mind has a great influence in dealing with all situations, and can even affect changes in a person. The outward appearance of a human being is a reflection of his inner world. A person becomes what he thinks, because the mind gives energy to realize what he wants to achieve. The prophets chosen by God to get guidance and guide mankind to the truth, have a special way of thinking. They always say and act correctly, have seriousness, trust, intelligence, and openness, and convey something that must be conveyed. They are awakened from sin and transgression, keeping their identity well. Likewise the story experienced by the prophet Ayyub As.
