Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using the speed reading method on the reading speed ability of fourth-grade students at SD 104185 Sei Semayang. The Skimming technique is a crucial skill that enables students to quickly filter essential information and enhance their comprehension of reading materials. This research employs a quantitative approach with an experimental method. The study subjects consist of 33 fourth-grade students. The findings indicate that the use of the Skimming technique significantly influences students' reading speed ability. This is evidenced by the comparison of pretest and posttest scores, where the average pretest score for effective reading speed (KEM) was 90.50, categorized as moderate. After implementing the speed reading method, the average posttest score increased to 144.61, classified as high. Additionally, the results of the t-test analysis showed that the t-value (tcount = 5.722) exceeded the critical t-value (ttable = 3.622), leading to the rejection of H0 and acceptance of H1. These findings confirm that the speed reading method significantly enhances students' reading speed ability at SD 104185 Sei Semayang. Therefore, this method can be effectively utilized as a teaching strategy to improve elementary students' reading skills.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of the cooperative learning model, specifically the Talking Stick type, on student independence in fourth-grade students at SDIT Ummu Hafidzah Sibiru-Biru. The research utilized a quasi-experimental design with a control and experimental group. The results indicate that Prototype Learning falls within the good category, as does student independence, with the experimental class achieving an average score of 82.2. In contrast, students who did not use Prototype Learning obtained an average score of 51.67. The standard deviation values were 9.06 for the experimental group and 7.18 for the control group. Hypothesis testing revealed a calculated t-value (th) of 0.06, which was compared to the t-table value of 0.245 at a 5% significance level with N = 60. Since 0.245 > 0.06, the hypothesis was accepted, confirming the significant effect of the cooperative Talking Stick learning model on student independence. These findings suggest that implementing cooperative learning strategies can enhance student autonomy in primary education settings.

Abstract

Waste management is a crucial component in maintaining environmental sustainability. Furthermore, the current environment is facing an environmental crisis. Rapid urban population growth and consumption patterns have led to an unprecedented increase in waste generation, posing significant challenges to the waste management system. This community service activity focused on promoting the utilization of waste into recycled products to raise environmental awareness in the community. All activities, including pre-implementation, implementation of waste management socialization, and monitoring, were successfully implemented. This activity demonstrates that the effort has successfully increased public knowledge and awareness of the environment.

Abstract

Community service activities for lecturers are an effort to carry out one of the tridharma tasks of higher education. Community service carried out in the form of gymnastics activities with the theme Efforts to Be Free from Disease Together with the Kuta Bayu Community in Gunung Meria District, Deli Serdang Regency. This activity aims to carry out the tridharma activities of higher education lecturers in order to contribute knowledge and outreach to society. This service carried out by several lecturers at Nahdlatul Ulama University, North Sumatra (UNUSU) invites the people of Kuta Bayu to start doing regular exercise activities in order to have a healthy physique and avoid all forms of disease. The expected output target of this activity is: to provide an understanding that Doing gymnastics provides many benefits for the body's health, one of which is improving the body's metabolic system and increasing and strengthening the immune system in the body to avoid various diseases.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut untuk mengetahui pengaruh media dinding kata (word wall) terhadap kemampuan dalam menyusun kalimat pada siswa kelas II di UPT SD Negeri 060932 Medan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas II UPT SD Negeri 060932 Medan yang berjumlah 56 siswa, terdiri dari 32 siswa laki-laki dan 24 siswa Perempuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan lembar observasi dan tes. Data observasi dan tes dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif persentase. Hasil penelitian pre-test menunjukkan bahwa persentase siswa yang nilainya diatas KKM baru mencapai 25,00%, sehingga masih belum dapat mencapai kriteria keberhasilan penelitian. Setelah dilakukan post-test maka persentase nilai siswa yang diatas KKM meningkat menjadi 89,28%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat diketahui bahwa pengaruh media dinding kata mampu meningkatkan kemampuan menyusun kalimat pada siswa kelas II di UPT SD Negeri 060932 Medan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan LKPD berbasis PBL untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada mata pelajaran PBahasa Indonesia yang valid atau layak digunakan dan efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa.. Model pengembangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini mengacu pada model pengembangan Thiagarajan, yang terdiri dari tahapan 4D yaitu define,  design,  develop  dan  disseminate. LKPD berbasis PBL yang telah dikembangkan, divalidasi oleh tim validasi ahli dan praktisi. Uji coba LKPD dilakukan di V SD PAB 13 Medan Helvetia dengan jumlah peserta didik sebanyak 20 orang. Uji coba ini dilakukan  untuk  menguji  keefektifan  dengan  memberikan  angket  respon  peserta  didik dan test kemampuan berpikir kritis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) produk LKPD berbasis Problem Based Learning sudah memenuhi kelayakan dari semua aspek, meliputi aspek materi, bahasa, maupun desain pembelajaran dengan total skor rata-rata yang diperoleh sebesar 3,45 dan total nilai persentasenya sebesar 86,38 dengan kategori “sangat baik” sehingga dapat dinyatakan  LKPD sangat  valid dan layak digunakan. (2) produk LKPD berbasis Problem Based Learning yang telah dikembangkan sudah memenuhi kriteria efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat berdasarkan pada peningkatan hasil kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa memperoleh persentase ketuntasan belajar klasikal 85%. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa secara klasikal, siswa telah tuntas belajar. Kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa mengalami peningkatan serta siswa juga memberikan  respon  yang  positif terhadap LKPD berbasis PBL yang digunakan.
