Abstract

Slaughtering of sacrificial animals is a worship activity for slaughtering ruminant livestock which is carried out on Eid al-Adha and carried out in mosques or outside Slaughterhouses (RPH). The limited facilities affect the welfare of the animals so that it affects the quality of the meat. Supervision in the production chain with antemortem and postmortem inspections is carried out to obtain good quality meat. This community service aims to help the community get a guarantee of safe, healthy, whole and halal, sacrificial animal meat with antemortem and postmortem examinations, as well as holding counseling on the handling of sacrificial animals and meat during the covid-19 pandemic through webinars. The activity was carried out in 13 mosques in the areas of Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Gresik, and Pasuruan. The antemortem examination will be held on 19-22 July 2021 followed by a post-mortem examination which will be held on 20-22 July 2021 with a total number of 112 cows, 220 goats and 1 sheep. The Webinar was held earlier, namely on July 14, 2021, by 3 competent speakers. The webinar was attended by the general public, mosque takmir, lecturers, and students. The results of the antemortem examination indicated that the animals were suitable for slaughter, although 2–6 (0.6–1.8%) animals showed diarrhea, nasal and eye discharge, and infection of the prepuce. The results of postmortem examination stated that the animals were fit for consumption with a note that the organs infected with worms had to be removed, namely 15.2% of the liver of cattle and 0.9% of the liver of goats with fasciolosis, 0.5% of goats experiencing parampistomiasis and 1.7% of cattle experiencing eurytrematosis.

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jumlah sapi yang terkena BEF (Bovine Ephimeral Fever) dan penanganannya. Studi ini dilakukan selama bulan Maret sampai Mei 2022 di Desa Bandungan Madiun. Pengumpulan data melalui wawancara dengan peternak, observasi lapang ke sapi yang terkena BEF dan pendataan. Analisis data secara deskriptif. Selama 3 bulan pengamatan, didapatkan sebanyak 50 ekor sapi terkena BEF dengan rincian 24 pedet, 15 indukan dan 11 pejantan. Penanganan kasus BEF dengan pemberian terapi antipiretik dan vitamin B kompleks. Pencegahan kejadian BEF dengan cara pembersihan kandang dari serangga vektor penular. Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi bakteri penyebab kasus saluran pernapasan pada ayam buras. Ayam Buras didapatkan dari pasar Wonokromo Surabaya. Sampel ayam memiliki gejala klinis yaitu terdapat pembesaran kepala, kepala ayam sedikit miring dan tertunduk, kondisi tubuh tampak lemas, keluar cairan pada mata dan mulut Sampel ayam dilakukan nekropsi dan mengalami perubahan patologi anatomi pada organ paru tampak pucat. Isolasi dan identifikasi bakteri saluran pernapasan dilakukan swab cairan oedema pada kepala, discharge pada hidung, dan usapan organ paru. Uji isolasi primer dan sekunder dilakukan dengan cara menggores hasil swab ke media isolasi (NA,BA, MCA). Hasil uji isolasi didapatkan 3 koloni bakteri. Uji mikroskopik dengan pewarnaan gram didapatkan hasil koloni 3 yang menjadi dugaan bakteri penyebab. Koloni bakter 3 dilanjutkan uji identifikasi. Dari hasil uji isolasi primer dan sekunder, uji mikroskopik dan uji identifikasi didapatkan bakteri penyebab kasus adalah Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Abstract

Leucocytozoonosis, known as Malaria Like Disease, is a blood protozoan disease from the genus Leucocytozoon sp. Three broiler chickens from Ampera Jaya Farm Aceh Besar. Chickens experience clinical symptoms of feathers that look dull, the skin on the feet has petechiae, the eye membranes are hyperemic (conjunctivitis), the nasal and oral cavities contain mucous exudate and green feces. Chicken blood is taken via the brachial vein in the wing to be used to observe blood smears. The chicken experienced sudden death and a necropsy was carried out and the lungs and liver were taken to make histopathological preparations. The research results showed that there was Leucocytozoon sp. in blood smear preparations and schizonts in liver and lung histopathology. So in cases of death of broiler chickens it is caused by infection from Leucocytozoon sp. which causes changes in the histopathology of the chicken's lungs and liver with the discovery of schizon Lungs, Liver, Leucocytozoonosis, Broiler chickens

Abstract

This case study aims to determine the causes of pathological changes in anatomy and histology in the trachea and lungs of the broiler. This study was taken from a broiler of Mr Alif Husbandry, who had clinical symptoms of clear discharge from sinuses, anorexia, conjunctivitis and difficulty breathing on July 5th 2022, in Gresik. The anatomical pathology and histological examination results showed changes in the trachea and lungs, showing hemorrhage and inflammatory cell infiltration. The results of microbiological examination from the sinus swab identified Avibacterium paragallinarum. In this study, clinical symptoms, anatomical pathology, and histology of the trachea and lungs of broiler chickens were caused by infection with Avibacterium paragallinarum.

Abstract

Bandotan leaves (Ageratum conyzoides) are one of the traditional medicinal plants that are trusted empirically by the community to treat various diseases. Several studies report the potential of bandotan leaves as an antibacterial because they contain the chemical compounds trepanoids, flavonoids, alkaloids, essential oils, and tannins. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of bandotan leaves on the growth of Salmonella enterica serovar typhimurium bacteria in vitro. This research used the Kirby Bauer disk diffusion method with the antibiotic chloramphenicol as a positive control, CMC 1% as a negative control, and an ethanol extract of bandotan leaves with concentrations of 25%, 50%, and 75%. Re-identification of bacteria was carried out using Gram staining, and effectiveness testing was carried out on Mueller Hinton Agar (MHA) media. The results of the study on Gram staining showed uniform morphological characteristics of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium bacteria and the diameter of the inhibition zone formed at concentrations of bandotan leaf ethanol extract of 25% (8.02 mm ± 0.41), 50% (8.37mm ± 0.69) and 75% (8.78mm ± 0.78). It can be concluded that the ethanol extract of bandotan leaves at concentrations of 25%, 50%, and 75% has a weak category of inhibitory activity against the growth of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium bacteria in vitro.

Abstract

Collagen is one of the determinant factors of beef tenderness. This study analyzed the expression and content of type III collagen connective tissue in two muscle types of Aceh cattle through immunohistochemical staining. Meat samples were obtained from the gluteobiceps and psoas major muscles of three Aceh cattle bulls weighing 250-300 kg, with a body condition score of three. Histology preparations were created from samples and subjected to immunohistochemical staining utilizing specific antibodies targeting type III collagen. Qualitative data were analyzed descriptively, while quantitative data were analyzed using IMAGE J software. The results showed that the expression of type III collagen connective tissue was found in the endomysium and perimysium layers of both muscles. The expression of type III collagen connective tissue varied significantly among the muscles (P<0.05). The gluteobiceps muscle had an average percentage of the area containing type III collagen connective tissue of 4.47±2.41%, while the psoas major muscle was lower at 2.51±1.69%. This study concludes that the gluteobiceps muscle of Aceh cattle has a higher amount of type III collagen connective tissue than the psoas major muscle.

Abstract

Infection with Ascaridia galli still attacks poultry farms, especially chickens in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the causes of changes in anatomy pathological and histology in small intestine of broiler. The study was taken from Alif which had clinical symptoms of weakness and anorexia on July 5, 2022 in Gresik Jawa Timur. The results of anatomical pathology and histological examination showed changes in the duodenum and jejunum organs showing hemorrhagic and inflammatory cell infiltration. The results of parasite examination found A.galli worms in the lumen of the small intestine and A.galli worm eggs from feces. In this study, clinical symptoms and anatomy pathological and histology changes of the small intestine in the broiler were caused by infection with A. galli worms.

Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan untuk mengatasi permasalahan rendahnya produktivitas ternak unggas pada skala rumah tangga di Gampong Kuta Ateuh yang disebabkan oleh keterbatasan akses terhadap pakan berkualitas dan tingginya biaya pakan komersial. Kegiatan ini bertujuan memperkenalkan inovasi pakan alternatif berbahan dasar maggot Black Soldier Fly dan daun kari sebagai solusi ekonomis, mudah dibuat, dan berbasis potensi lokal. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi identifikasi kondisi lapangan, sosialisasi, pelatihan, demonstrasi, dan pendampingan pembuatan pakan inovasi MaKaFeed oleh dosen, mahasiswa, dan masyarakat serta pemanfaatannya ke ternak. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui pre–post test pelatihan, observasi performa ternak, serta wawancara dengan peternak. Kegiatan sosialisasi dilakukan pada 5 Oktober dengan 25 peserta dan dilanjutkan dengan kegiatan wawancara dengan peternak pada 5 November 2025. Kegiatan wawancara dilakukan untuk mengetahui hasil dan respon ternak dari pemberian MaKaFeed. Hasil kegiatan sosialisasi menunjukkan keberhasilan peserta dalam mempratikan pembuatan MaKaFeed dan adanya peningkatan signifikan pengetahuan peserta dari 8–42% sebelum pelatihan menjadi 90–100% setelah mengikuti pelatihan. Hasil wawancara menunjukan bahwa ternak merespon baik dari pakan MaKaFeed dengan adanya peningkatan nafsu makan dan berat badan serta jarang terkena penyakit dan peternak menyampaikan bahwa adanya pemberian MaKaFeed secara langsung dapat menurunkan biaya pakan. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah inovasi pakan MAKaFeed yang berformula utama maggot BSF dan daun kari secara efektif meningkatkan produktifitas ternak dan juga kesejahteraan peternak Gampong Kuta Ateuh.
