Abstract

This study seeks to elucidate the significance of informal economic education in preserving the sustainability of the Donggala Silk Weaving enterprise as a cultural heritage and a livelihood source for the community. The employed methodology is a qualitative technique utilizing a phenomenological study, conducted through in-depth interviews with silk weaving entrepreneurs who inherited their weaving talents from their family. The findings indicate that the process of skill inheritance occurs naturally, in an unstructured and voluntary manner, yet successfully conveys information between generations. Children engage in weaving activities from a young age through direct observation and practice, allowing the talent to evolve into a primary source of income. From a phenomenological standpoint, weaving is regarded not merely as an economic endeavor, but also as an integral aspect of cultural identity, a vehicle for familial socialization, and a symbol of pride for the Kaili community. This study reveals that the sustainability of traditional enterprises is significantly affected by the subjective significance attributed to abilities, rather than solely by market forces. These findings theoretically enhance the literature on informal economic education within the framework of local culture. The study underscores the necessity of amalgamating informal education with contemporary support mechanisms, including training, digitization, and empowerment programs. Additional research is advised to investigate intergenerational dynamics and technical interventions in facilitating the transformation of weaving enterprises in the context of globalization.

Abstract

Through community empowerment, this study seeks to examine how entrepreneurial literacy, modernity, and government support affect community welfare. A t of 132 culinary MSME actors in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi Province, were selected as the research sample. A questionnaire was used to collect data, and structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed for analysis. The findings indicate that community empowerment is positively and significantly influenced by entrepreneurial literacy, modernity, and government support. Furthermore, it was shown that community empowerment significantly enhances community welfare. In addition, the study reveals that the relationship between entrepreneurial literacy, modernity, and government support and community welfare is mediated by community empowerment.

Abstract

This research aims at finding out 1) the characteristics of Food and Beverage Service Management students of Makassar Tourism Polytechnic, 2) the students’ needs in English language for Food and Beverage Service based on Standard Operational Procedure, 3) the designed and developed English language materials based on Standard Operational Procedure for Food and Beverage Service Students, 4) the validity of the developed English Materials based on needs analysis of Standard Operational Procedure for Food and Beverage Service Students. This research applies Research and Development (R&D) method by using the ADDIE Model by taking 117 students of FBS Management department, Makassar Tourism Polytechnic as the respondents. The results of data analysis show that 1) The English competency level of the students of FBS Management department are mostly in the intermediate level (81.20%) 2) The language skills mostly needed by the students of FBS management department is speaking skill and they prefer to study English in the pair work or role play activity. In terms of the SOP of the restaurant services, the results have shown that all of the procedures for each SOP needed by the students of FBS as the English material for FBS Management department. 3) The English material which is designed and developed based on the need analysis of SOP restaurant services, 4) the results of the last validation for the designed and developed material indicate that the material is ready to be used. The quality of the developed materials is categorized as good material. Thus, it can be used as a main source to learn English Food and Beverage Service Management at Makassar Tourism Polytechnic

Abstract

A heteroskedastic semiparametric regression model consists of two main components, i.e. parametric component and nonparametric component. The model assumes that any data (x̰ i′ , t i , y i ) follows y i = x̰ i′ β̰+ f(t i ) + σ i ε i , where i = 1,2, … , n , x̰ i′ = (1, x i1 , x i2 , … , x ir ) and t i is the predictor variable. Parameter vector β̰ = (β 1 , β 2 , … , β r ) ′ ∈ ℜ r is unknown and f(t i ) is also unknown and is assumed to be in interval of C[0,π] . Random error ε i is independent on zero mean and varianceσ 2 . Estimation of the heteroskedastic semiparametric regression model was conducted to evaluate the parametric and nonparametric components. The nonparametric component f(t i ) regression was approximated by Fourier series F(t) = bt + 12 α 0 + ∑ α k 𝑐 𝑜𝑠 kt Kk=1 . The estimation was obtained by means of Weighted Penalized Least Square (WPLS): min f∈C(0,π) {n −1 (y̰− Xβ̰−f̰) ′ W −1 (y̰− Xβ̰− f̰) + λ ∫ 2π [f ′′ (t)] 2 dt π0 } . The WPLS solution provided nonparametric component f̰̂ λ (t) = M(λ)y̰ ∗ for a matrix M(λ) and parametric component β̰̂ = [X ′ T(λ)X] −1 X ′ T(λ)y̰
