Abstract

The role of teaching materials in the learning process is crucial, as they are served as the primary resources supporting students' learning endeavors. One of the various teaching materials have been developed, is ethnomathematics-based material, the latter often come with cultural limitations. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to identify teaching materials suitable for learning processes without cultural constraints. The Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method was employed for this study. Data collection involved gathering national and internationally indexed articles published within the last five years. Seventeen articles matching the keywords were selected from Google Scholar. The research findings indicate a requirement for teaching materials grounded in mathematical linguistic landscapes that transcend cultural boundaries. Consequently, there is a necessity to develop teaching materials, such as e-modules and worksheets (LKPD), grounded in mathematical linguistic landscapes to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all students, regardless of cultural backgrounds.

Abstract

Abstract

Predator-prey models are essential for understanding ecological dynamics, and fractional-order models provide a more realistic approach by considering memory effects. This study aims to analyze the discrete dynamics of a predator-prey model, incorporating predator cannibalism, refuge, and memory effects with a Caputo-type fractional-order. The Piecewise Constant Argument (PWCA) method was employed for discretization, followed by an analysis of the equilibrium points and their stability. Four equilibrium points were identified: the origin, prey extinction, predator extinction, and coexistence. It was found that the origin point was unstable, while the prey extinction, predator extinction, and coexistence points were conditionally locally asymptotically stable, depending on the parameter values. The order of the fractional derivative and step size significantly influenced the stability of these equilibrium points. Numerical simulations confirmed the theoretical findings, showing how parameter variations affect system behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to address the lack of interactive learning media specifically designed to enhance students' critical mathematical thinking skills in the topic of function composition. Based on previous research highlighting the potential of viral media in mathematics learning, this study develops and tests an innovative learning medium called GABUT. This medium integrates game elements and interactive learning using QR codes and various levels of problem difficulty. The methodology employed is Research and Development (R&D) with the 4D development model: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. In the Define stage, needs analysis was conducted through interviews and questionnaires. The Design stage involved the initial prototype design of the GABUT media. During the Develop stage, the prototype was tested and evaluated through pre-tests, post-tests, and statistical t-test analysis. The Disseminate stage involved implementing the media in several schools over 12 weeks. The results indicate that GABUT media effectively enhances students' critical mathematical thinking skills, with an average test score improvement of 25% (standard deviation = 5.6, p-value < 0.05). Additionally, 85% of students reported feeling more motivated and engaged in learning mathematics after using this media. Challenges encountered included students' initial adaptation to the new media and issues with "zonk" questions. Improvements were made through initial orientation sessions and revisions to the "zonk" questions. This study makes a significant contribution to mathematics education by providing an innovative and effective learning medium that not only improves students' conceptual understanding of mathematics but also motivates them and increases their participation in the learning process.

Abstract

Ethnomathematics has experienced rapid development recently and has become a trend in mathematics. This research uses a systematic literature review method to analyze the relationship between mathematics and culture, trends in mathematical findings, and conformity with ethnomathematics theory. The articles from Sinta's accredited journals over the last five years. The research results show that there is no practical connection between mathematical and cultural concepts in temple ethnomathematics research. Second, mathematical findings tend to be convergent, with most studies referring to the same material without uniqueness or novelty across cultures. Third, Indonesia's natural diversity is not always relevant in ethnomathematics, which focuses more on cultural aspects. In conclusion, there is a gap in ethnomathematics research, and it is suggested that further studies utilize Mathematical Landscape in addressing mathematics in various broader aspects of life that are not directly related to ethnomathematics. This research can serve as a foundation and be further developed to benefit society and education worldwide.
