Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of depth jump and box jump exercises on improving the leg muscle power of long jump athletes. The research method used is a true experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects consisted of ten athletes from the Indonesian University of Education Athletics Club, who were selected using purposive sampling. The instrument used was a Force Platform, which had a validity of 0.70773 and reliability of 0.9186. The training program was conducted over 12 sessions with a frequency of three times per week, covering the pretest, treatment, and posttest stages. Data analysis was performed using normality, homogeneity, and t-tests with a significance level of 0.05 to see the effect of each type of exercise and the differences between them. The results showed that both depth jump and box jump exercises had a significant effect on increasing the leg muscle power of long jump athletes. However, the increase produced by depth jump exercises tended to be greater than that produced by box jump exercises. In conclusion, depth jump training is more effective in increasing leg muscle power than box jump training, so it can be recommended as an optimal plyometric training method for long jump athletes to improve their jumping performance.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of shooting exercises using the Beef method to the accuracy of free throws of basketball extracurricular students at Cimahi State Junior High School 5. This study uses the pre-test and post-test one-group experimental method. The research population is students who actively participate in basketball extracurricular extracurricular at Cimahi State Junior High School 5. Sampling uses purposive sampling techniques so that 10 students are obtained as samples that meet the specified criteria. The results showed a significant increase in the accuracy of free throws of basketball extracurricular students, indicated by the average difference before and after treatment (pre-test = 3.7 and post-test = 6.20) and t-test (t-count = -7,319; p = 0.000 <0.05). Thus, the application of shooting exercises using the BEEF method can increase the accuracy of free throws of basketball extracurricular students in Cimahi State Junior High School 5.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of resistance band training on increasing the endurance of arm muscle strength in adolescent basketball players. The method used is an experiment with a pre-test and post-test design in one group. The subjects of the study consisted of extracurricular basketball players who followed a training program for six weeks (12 sessions). The instrument used to measure arm muscle strength was a 60-second push-up test. The results of the statistical analysis showed a significant increase in the average value, from 20.20 (pre-test) to 25.00 (post-test). This finding is supported by previous studies stating that resistance band-based training is effective in increasing muscle strength, even in the elderly group. In addition to increasing strength, the advantages of resistance bands lie in their flexibility, portability, and high level of safety, making them suitable for use by school-age athletes. Thus, resistance band training can be an efficient and effective alternative in the youth basketball physical development program, especially in increasing arm muscle endurance to support the performance of basic game techniques.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the extent to which dribbling skills can be improved through a combination of ladder drill and ball feeling exercises in futsal players. This study used an experimental method with a one-group pretest posttest control design. The population of DNA FC Bandung futsal athletes was 14 and the sampling technique used total sampling. The results of the independent t-test had a t-value of -4.524 with a Sig. (2-tailed) value of .001. Because the Sig. (2-tailed) value <0.05, Ho was rejected. It was concluded that the combination of ladder drill and ball feeling exercises had a significant effect on improving dribbling skills in futsal athletes. It is recommended for futsal coaches and athletes to interpret the combination of these exercises into a routine training program, it is hoped that players' dribbling skills can be further developed so that players can be more proficient and confident on the field.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the Effect of Squat Jump and Split Squat Jump Plyometric Exercises on the Leg Power of Football Athletes, with the research design applied in this study was "two groups pretest-posttest design". Group I was given squat jump treatment and group II was given split squat jump treatment. The location of this study was carried out at Al-Ma'soem High School, JL. Raya Cipacing No. 22, Jatinangor District, Sumedang Regency, West Java. The population in this study amounted to 20 people who were divided into two groups that would be given squat jump and split squat jump training actions. Samples were taken using a total sampling technique, where all populations would be samples in this study. The instrument used in this study was a vertical Jump test instrument, the test serves to measure individual leg muscle power. The test was carried out during the pretest and after being given posttest treatment. This data was processed using SPSS 22. The results of this study Sig from the squat jump and split squat jump groups was 0.000 which means less than 0.05. Furthermore, the squat jump group demonstrated a greater improvement compared to the split squat jump group. These findings indicate that both plyometric training methods are effective in enhancing lower-limb explosive power. In conclusion, squat jump and split squat jump exercises can be implemented as effective training strategies to improve leg muscle power in football athletes, providing valuable insights for coaches in optimizing training programs.

Abstract

Physical activity is an important factor that contributes to physiological health, as well as the psychological well-being of an individual. Participation in sport has increasingly been associated with higher levels of happiness, subjective well-being, and the development of meaning in life. However, the philosophical dimensions of sport participation remain relatively underexplored within the field of sport science literature. This study aims to examine the relationship between sport participation, happiness, and meaning in life through a narrative literature review approach. The literature search was conducted across several international academic databases, including Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science, using keywords related to physical activity, psychological well-being, happiness, and meaning in life. Approximately 40 relevant scientific publications were analyzed thematically to identify psychological and philosophical mechanisms linking sport participation to human well-being. The findings indicate that physical activity contributes to happiness through several mechanisms, including the enhancement of subjective well-being, the strengthening of self-efficacy, emotional regulation, and the fulfillment of basic psychological needs as described in Self-Determination Theory. In addition, experiences of challenge, achievement, and social engagement in sport play a significant role in helping individuals develop a sense of meaning in life. Therefore, sport should not only be viewed as a physical activity aimed at improving bodily health but also as an important medium for fostering psychological well-being and meaningful living. These findings highlight the importance of promoting sport participation within society as part of a broader strategy to improve overall quality of life.
