Abstract

Beetroot (Beta vulgaris var. rubra (L) Moq.) has the pigment betasianin which produces a red color and is often used as a natural coloring agent in food so that it can be developed to be used as a dye in cosmetic products. The purpose of this study was to determine the lip balm preparation formulation of beetroot extract (Beta vulgaris var. rubra (L) Moq.) as a natural dye and physical evaluation. In this study using a descriptive experimental method using variations in the concentration of beetroot extract. The variations in the concetration of beetroot extract were F1 0%, F2 1%, F3 5% and F4 10%. From each formula, a physical lip balm test was carried out including the organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, melting point test, and preference test. The result showed that the lip balm preparation on F1 was yellow, F2 was peach, F3 was pink and F4 was maroon. F1, F2, F3 have the distinctive smell of oleum cacao, while F4 has the distinctive smell of lanolin. And semi solid preparation. Homogeneity test F1, F2, F3 and F4 have homogeneous preparations. pH test at F1 5.26; F2 5.03; F3 4.87 and F4 4.76. melting point test of all formulas melting at 50°C for F1 and F2 for 12 minutes, F3 10 minutes and F4 for 6 minutes. The preference test concluded that the panelists preferred F4.

Abstract

Beetroot (Beta vulgaris var. Rubra (L.) Moq.). is one of the most useful food ingredients, one of the benefits is to provide a natural color in the manufacture of products. Beetroot contains betasianin, so that the cosmetic formulation of betasianin contained in beetroot produces a red color that can be used as a natural dye for blush. The extraction of betacyanin was carried out by maceration method using 70% ethanol with a ratio of 1: 7. Blush was made into three formulas with different extract concentration variations, namely 25%, 45% and 65%. Each formula was subjected to physical evaluation including organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, adhesion test and preference test. The organoleptic test results of the three formulas had different colors, namely pink to purplish red because the beet root extracts used varied. The results of the pH test in formula 1, formula 2 and formula 3 are 7,10; 6.23 and 5.24 indicate that the first formulation does not meet the good pH requirements, namely 4.5-6.5. The result of adhesion test was 38.5%; 35.6% and 36.7%. The results of the favorite test using SPSS One Way ANOVA in the color category showed that formula 1 was significantly different from formulas 2 and 3, while in the aroma, color and texture categories there was no significant difference between the three blush formulas.

Abstract

Daun kemangi (Ocimum basilicum L.) memiliki kandungan senyawa fenolik dan senyawa alami yang meliputi polifenol seperti flavonoid dan antosianin yang memiliki berbagai manfaat diantarnya sebagai antioksidan, antimikroba, antifungi, antitoksik, antiinflamasi dan antihiperglikemik. Inflamasi merupakan suatu respon terhadap cedera jaringan yang melibatkan proses fisiologis aktivasi enzim cyclooxigenase (COX) yang memiliki dua isoform yaitu enzim cyclooxigenase-1 (COX-1) dan cyclooxigenase-2 (COX-2). Penggunaan obat antiinflamasi golongan Anti Inflamasi Non Steroid (AINS) dan golongan steroid mempunyai efek samping dalam penggunaan jangka panjang. Dari studi in vitro fenolik menunjukkan aktivitas anti-inflamasi yang signifikan dengan menghalangi sintesis dan pelepasan histamin dan mediator-mediator alergis inflamator lainnya. Fenolik memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dan aksi cadangan vitamin C serta dipercaya dapat melindungi tubuh dari beberapa jenis penyakit degenerative dengan cara mencegah terjadinya proses peroksidasi lemak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran Fenolik yang terdapat pada daun kemangi (Ocimum basilicum L.) sebagai anti inflamasi ligan 6COX cyclooxigenase-2 (COX-2) dengan menggunakan aplikasi komputasi autodock vina.

Abstract

Diabetes melitus merupakan penyakit degeneratif yang bisa mengakibatkan berbagai komplikasi jangka pendek maupun jangka panjang. Penyakit ini disebabkan oleh ketidakstabilan kadar gula darah dalam tubuh. Ada beberapa penelitian ilmiah yang sudah membuktikan bahwa biji mahoni ini dapat mengatasi hiperglikemia dan beberapa komplikasi lainnya. Rasa pahit dan sepat dari kandungan flavonoid biji mahoni membuat banyak penderita diabetes melitus tidak lagi mengonsumsinya. Rasa tersebut serupa dengan rasa pahit pada kopi yang merupakan minuman kesukaan bagi sebagian besar masyarakat Indonesia. Tujuan dari kewirausahaan ini adalah untuk membuat formulasi kopi dengan campuran simplisia biji mahoni yang tepat dan dapat menurunkan kadar gula darah pada penderita diabetes melitus. Metode yang digunakan dalam kewirausahaan ini adalah formulasi minuman fungsional dalam bentuk serbuk. Minuman ini memiliki odor, warna, aroma kopi, aroma asing, rasa manis dan rasa yang pas, sedangkan rasa pahit, mouthfeel, flavour dan aftertaste agak kuat. Hasil intervensi yang dilakukan pada 3 kelompok tikus menggambarkan minuman fungsional ini berpotensi untuk menurunkan kadar glukosa darah tikus hiperglikemik.

Abstract

Leaf jati (Tectona grandis L.f.) has the pigment anthocyanin which product a red color. Anthocyanin pigments are a group of flavonoid pigments. The purpose of this study was to formulate and physically evaluate lip cream preparations with natural dyes from leaf jati extract (Tectona grandis L.f.). Anthocyanin extraction was carried out by maceration method using 96% ethanol as solvent. Lip cream was made into three formulas with different concentrations of extract leaf jati by 5%,10%,and 15%. The lip cream in each formula was subjected to physical tests including organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, adhesion test, dispersion test, and hedonic test. The results of the organoleptic test of the three formulas have different colors it is pink to red because variation of leaf jati extract used. The results of the homogeneity test showed that the three formulas are homogeneous. The results of the pH test of the three formulas are 4, indicating that all formulas had met the lip pH requirements of 3.8-4.7. The results of the adhesion test are F1=2,42±0,04;F2=3.21±0,03; and F3=4.26±0,02, these results show that only F3 meets the requirements because it is more than 4 seconds. The results of the dispersion test are F1=5.35±0,02;F2=5,21±0,04;and F3=5,10±0,03, the result is qualified because the result is 5-7 cm. The result of the preference test that was most preferred based on color, aroma, moisture, and texture was formula 2. Based on the results of the One Way Anova and Kruskal Wallis tests, there were significant differences in adhesion and dispersion

Abstract

Snail slime (Achatina fulica) has a strong inhibitory power against Propionibacterium acnes bacteria, this is because snail mucus has an active compound achasin. This study aims to determine the formulation and physical evaluation of serum and effect of variations in the concentration of xanthan gum as a gelling agent. In this research method used qualitative experiments with variations in the concentration of xanthan gum, namely F1 = 0,25%, F2 = 0,50%, F3 = 0,75%. The results of the third organoleptic test have almost the same shape, smell and color, semi-solid, odorless and album white in color. The homogeneity test shows that the three formulas are homogeneous. The resultof the evaluation of facial serum pH is F1=4,56±0,05; F2=4,96±0,05; F3=4,97±0,03 met the requirements for a good facial serum pH of 4,50-6,50. The results of the dispersion test at F1=6,83±0,01cm; F2=6,78±0,03cm; F3=6,72±0,02cm fulfills the requirements for the dispersion test, which is 5-7cm. Viscosity test results F1=544,82±23,17cPs; F2=5.568,70±280,26cPs; F3=10.326±219,54cPs indicates that only F1 meets the requirements for a good serum viscosity of 230-1150cPs. Transferred volume test results F1=97,44±0,01; F2=95,67±0,50; F3 = 95,33±0,50 meets the requirements. The results of the hedonic test were F1 the most preferred based on the color and aroma categories and F2 the most preferred based on the color and texture categories. Based on the results of statistical tests using One Way ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis, it can be ascertained that variations in the concentration of xanthan gum have no effect on the results of physical evaluation

Abstract

Turi leaves contain flavonoids, saponins and tannins which can function as Propionibacterium acnes antibacterials so that they can be used to make peel-off gel masks. PVA in a peel off gel mask functions as a gelling agent and film forming agent. The aim of the study was to determine the formulation of turi leaf extract peel off gel masks, physical evaluation of the preparation, and to determine the effect of variations in PVA concentration on the physical properties of the preparation. This study uses a descriptive experimental method. The simplicia extraction method uses maceration with a ratio of turi leaf simplicia and 96% ethanol (1:7). Variations in the concentration of PVA used were 10%, 13%, 16%. Each formula was subjected to organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, pH tests,adhesion tests, spreadability tests, drying time tests and viscosity tests. The results showed that the peel off gel mask preparations on F1, F2, F3 were respectively dark green in color, had a distinctive odor of turi leaf extract, slightly runny, slightly thick and viscous, had a homogeneous preparation. pH test results 5,75±0,39; 5,88±0,30; 6,17±0,32. Stickiness test results 19,69±5,89 seconds; 36,11±0,65 seconds; 54,02±3,11 seconds. Spreadability test results 5,40± 0,49 cm; 4,57±0,28 cm; 3,70±0,22 cm. Drying time test results 20,06±1,49 minutes; 18,23±1,01 minutes; 16,53±0,73 minutes. Viscosity test results 21173±3609,32 cPs; 48917,33±1,15 cPs; 48938±13,58 cPs. The results of the physical tests were followed by the One Way Anova and Kruskal Wallis statistical tests, showing that variations in PVA concentration significantly affected the physical test results of adhesion, spreadability, viscosity and drying time, but did not significantly affect the pH value.

Abstract

Avemor (Aloe vera and Moringa oleifera) is a natural hair growth tonic manufactured with a combination of aloe vera gel and dried moringa leaf extract as its active ingredients. Aloe vera includes a variety of vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A and C, amino acids, copper, inositol, and others. The extract from moringa leaves also includes tanins, vital amino acids, vitamin C, vitamin E, and other nutrients. One of the products with 2% minoxidil is employed as a positive control. Several hair diseases are treated off-label with the powerful arteriol vasoconstrictor minoxidil, which can also promote hair growth. In order to determine the effectiveness of Natural Hair Growth Tonic, tests were done on male New Zealand white rabbit hair. Avemor (Aloe vera and Moringa oleifera) is one of the products containing 2% minoxidil, with variations in the content of dried moringa leaf extracts of 2%, 4%, and 6% in comparison to the positive control. On the backs of five rabbits, six test regions were created, and each area received a different treatment every day using a sample volume of 0.5 ml. Results of the Natural Hair Growth Tonic's physical evaluation: Avemor (Aloe vera and Moringa oleifera) has a liquid shape, a distinct aroma, a pH of 6, and is homogeneous with the yellow-golden color of the formulae 1 and 2 as well as the golden brown in the formula 3. It also varies in the concentration of the dried moringa leaf extracts. Formula 4 (negative control) has the appearance of a liquid, is dazzling white in color, and emits a distinct odor. Additionally, formula 5 (positive control) has a liquid-like consistency, a vivid yellowish color, and a distinguishable scent. The average reserve viscosity for formula 1 was 2.96 ± 0.14 cPs, for formula 2 it was 2.99 ± 0.10 cPs, and for formula 3 it was 4.05 ± 0.07 cPs. Formula 4 (negative control) had a value 2.96 ± 0.10 cPs, and formula 5 (positive control) had a value of 1.82 ± 0.03 cPs. The average result of rabbit hair growth on the seventh day for treatment 1 is 0.22 ± 0.17 cm, treatment 2 is 0.30 ± 0.23 cm, treatment 3 is 0.42 ± 0.42 cm, treatment 4 is 0.58 ± 0.47 cm, treatment 5 is 0.68 ± 0.36 cm, and treatment 6 is 0.90 ± 0.42 cm. On the 14th day of treatment 1, the average result of rabbit hair growth was 0.43 ± 0.06 cm; on the same day, treatment 2, 0.27± 0.18 cm; on the same day, treatment 3, 0.42 ± 0.33 cm; on the same day, treatment 4, 0.77 ± 0.22 cm; on the same day, treatment 5, 0.28 ± 0.24 cm; and on the same day, treatment 6, 0.43 ± 0.38 cm. The average length of rabbit hair on the 21st day for treatment 1 was 0.43 ± 0.26 cm, for treatment 2 was 0.73 ± 0.19 cm, for treatment 3 was 0.32 ± 0.23 cm, for treatment 4 was 0.48 ± 0.31 cm, for treatment 5 was 0.13 ± 0.17 cm, and for treatment 6 was 0,43 ± 0.30 cm.

Abstract

Sugarcane bagasse extract (Saccharum officinarum Linn.) has high antioxidant activity due to its phenolic compounds, which are beneficial for moisturizing dry skin, smoothing the skin, and combating free radicals. This study aimed to evaluate the physical stability of exfoliating and moisturizing gel formulations containing sugarcane bagasse extract at concentrations of 1%, 3%, and 5% using the cycling test method over six cycles (12 days) at temperatures of ±4°C and ±40°C. Parameters tested included organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, spreadability, and adhesiveness. The results showed that the formulations without extract (control) and those with 1% extract concentration met the physical stability parameters and remained stable throughout the cycling test, with viscosity ranging from 13,665.7 to 20,180.6 cPs, pH between 4.76 and 5.43, spreadability from 3.25 to 5.64 cm, and adhesiveness from 0.42 to 1.52 seconds. In contrast, formulations with 3% and 5% extract concentrations exhibited physical instability, such as changes in pH, viscosity, and spreadability, failing to pass the stability test cycles.

Abstract

Desa Wisata Kampung Nglurah beralamatkan di Dusun Nglurah, Kelurahan Tawangmangu, Kecamatan Tawangmangu, Kabupaten Karanganyar, Provinsi Jawa Tengah. Di desa wisata kampung Nglurah relatif aman dan tentram, namun ada konflik yang sampai hari ini terjadi yaitu adanya pandemi virus corona yang menyerang sistem pernafasan dan mengakibatkan sistem kekebalan tubuh seseorang melemah. Jika sistem kekebalan melemah, kemampuan untuk melindungi tubuh juga berkurang, sehingga patogen, termasuk virus dapat tumbuh dan berkembang dalam tubuh, dari itu perlu adanya upaya untuk menaikkan daya tahan tubuh dengan cara mengkonsumsi obat-obatan, berolahraga, ataupun dengan suplementasi makanan. Suplementasi bahan makanan alam yang mengandung imunostimulan salah satunya adalah serai dan jahe. Serai mengandung dua senyawa utama yang memiliki manfaat sebagai anti-inflamasi yaitu citral dan geranial. Sedangkan jahe mengandung gingerol yang dapat menghambat pertumbuhan berbagai jenis bakteri dan antioksidan dapat memperkuat kekebalan tubuh. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat tentang penggunaan teh serai jahe sebagai penambah daya tahan tubuh menggunakan daun stevia sebagai pemanis alami ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat akan penggunaan tanaman obat yang berada di lingkungan sekitar khususnya serai, jahe dan daun stevia. Harapannya masyarakat dapat memahami manfaat dari tanaman tersebut seperti serai dan jahe sebagai penambah daya tahan tubuh dan daun stevia sebagai pemanis alami yang aman untuk penderita diabetes. Metode pelaksanaan dalam kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan ceramah, demonstrasi dan pelatihan, serta dilanjutkan dengan diskusi. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Pendopo Guyub, Rukun, Dusun Nglurah, Tawangmangu, Karanganyar dan diikuti oleh 30 orang peserta dari anggota Pokdarwis Sewu Kembang. Peserta sangat antusias dalam memperhatikan materi yang disampaikan dan dalam bertanya. Kegiatan ini menghasilkan produk teh celup serai jahe stevia yang didaftarkan HKI dan artikel ilmiah yang diterbitkan di Jurnal Nasional
