Abstract

This study examines the environmental effects of urban development by analyzing the influence of population, regional economy, and human development on waste generation in Sumatra, Indonesia. Using panel data from 10 provincial capitals and applying the generalized least squares (GLS) method, the study finds that population density and Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) based on expenditure—a proxy for consumption levels—are positively associated with increased waste production. In contrast, the Human Development Index (HDI) exhibits a negative relationship with waste generation. The study contributes to the literature by employing a panel-data approach to explore the interplay between human development and waste production in urban Sumatra, offering insights for sustainable urban planning.

Abstract

Stunting remains a critical challenge in improving human capital development in Indonesia. Despite numerous government intervention programs, their effectiveness in reducing stunting prevalence has not been comprehensively evaluated. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of government interventions in addressing stunting using the multi-value Qualitative Comparative Analysis (mvQCA) method, based on data from 34 provinces in Indonesia. The variables analyzed include complete basic immunization coverage, exclusive breastfeeding, National Health Insurance (JKN) ownership, access to proper sanitation, active community health posts (Posyandu), average years of schooling for women, and poverty levels. The results reveal that no single factor is consistently sufficient to reduce stunting rates. Instead, combinations of these factors form effective configurations in lowering stunting prevalence. These findings highlight the importance of adopting a holistic and contextual policy approach in tackling stunting across different regions. This study provides valuable policy implications for designing more targeted and effective interventions to combat stunting in Indonesia. Keywords: stunting, government intervention, mvQCA, health policy, sanitation, exclusive breastfeeding, immunization, health insurance.

Abstract

The problem of food waste in urban areas is becoming an increasingly pressing issue due to increasing public consumption, population growth, and low awareness of waste management. This study aims to analyze the influence of various socio-economic factors on household food waste generation in Imopuro Subdistrict, Metro City. The method used is a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression techniques. The independent variables studied include years of education, number of family members, household expenditure on food, proportion of food expenditure, knowledge of waste management, and involvement in waste management. The results show that the number of family members, household expenditure on food, and proportion of food expenditure have a positive effect on food waste generation, while years of education, knowledge of waste management, and community involvement in waste management have a negative effect. These findings indicate the need for community education and empowerment in sustainable consumption practices as well as strengthening community-based policies for food waste management. This study is expected to serve as a reference for policymakers in designing effective and participatory waste management strategies.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to analyze the short-term impact of Chinese Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), government expenditure, and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) based on expenditure on Indonesia's economic growth amid global uncertainty during the 2010–2024 period. A quantitative approach was employed using time series regression with the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method. Prior to model estimation, data were tested for stationarity using the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test. The results show that simultaneously, the three independent variables significantly influence economic growth. Partially, Chinese FDI has a positive and marginally significant effect, government expenditure shows a significant negative impact, while household consumption-based GDP exerts a strong and statistically significant positive influence on Indonesia's economic growth. These findings highlight the critical role of domestic consumption and effective government spending in promoting growth, as well as the need to enhance the quality of foreign investment. Keywords: Chinese FDI, economic growth, government expenditure, consumption.

Abstract

Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are designated areas within Indonesia established to perform specific economic functions and granted special incentives. The Indonesian government promotes equitable growth through various strategies, including SEZ development. The Riau Islands Province (Kepri) hosts the highest number of SEZs in the country. This decision reflects strategic considerations, as the province offers strong potential for SEZ expansion. Its geographic advantage along major international shipping routes and near Singapore and Malaysia makes Kepri a key hub for national and regional economic growth. Additionally, the province benefits from relatively developed infrastructure and strong local government commitment to SEZ support. This study evaluates the impact of SEZs on economic growth in the Riau Islands Province using a Difference-in-Differences (DiD) linear regression approach at the district/city level. The results show that, after SEZs became operational, districts/cities with SEZs recorded an average economic growth rate 0.135 percentage points higher than those without SEZs.

Abstract

Happiness is the ultimate goal of a prosperous life that a person wants to achieve. There are many stigmas and opinions about measuring happiness, such as happiness seen from health, work, education, family harmony, and more. With so many ways to see and measure happiness, a happiness index was created to measure the welfare and happiness of people in a region or country. This research aims to test and analyze the influence of tourism on happiness by using the number of hotels and accommodations, technology and information, health, consumption expenditure, education, and crime. The data used is secondary data, with a population of 10 provinces on the island of Sumatra. The analysis technique used is Panel Data Regression Analysis. The research results show that tourism, technology, health, and consumption expenditure positively affect the happiness index. In contrast, education and crime have a negative effect on the happiness index in 10 provinces on the island of Sumatra

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of population density, poverty, and urbanization on the crime rate in the city of Bandung using a multiple linear regression method with time series data for the 2017-2022 period sourced from BPS and related agencies. The results of the study show that population density and poverty have a significant influence on crime, where population density creates social pressure and conflict, while poverty encourages crime as a form of economic survival. In contrast, urbanization has no significant effect on crime, which is thought to be due to the equitable distribution of urbanization or the effectiveness of its impact management policies. This research emphasizes the importance of poverty alleviation and spatial management in reducing crime rates in the city of Bandung.

Abstract

Indonesia according to data from the minister of economy that in the fourth quarter of 2022 economic growth has grown by 5.01% (yoy). In the full year, Indonesia's economic growth throughout 2022 was recorded to have experienced impressive growth of 5.31%. This figure exceeded the target set by the Government of Indonesia, which was 5.2%, and again reached the level of 5% as before the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on these problems, it is necessary to know what factors affect the economic growth of each province in Indonesia in 2022. The purpose of this study is to find out what factors affect the economic growth rate in Indonesia in 2022. A regression analysis of the effect of HDI, UMP and unemployment rate on the growth rate of GDP at constant prices in each province in Indonesia was carried out in 2022. This study used a quantitative approach and Cross Section data type with secondary data obtained from the BPS Website. The method used is Ordinary Least Squared. The conclusion obtained is that HDI, minimum wage and unemployment rate do not have a significant effect on economic growth, but the minimum wage can have a positive effect on the economic growth of each province in Indonesia in 2022. With Test F showing that in 2022, HDI, UMP and unemployment rate simultaneously (together) have no significant effect on economic growth. The variation of HDI, UMP, and unemployment rate, according to the coefficient of determination (R-Square), is only able to contribute 4.31% to Indonesia's economic growth in 2022

Abstract

Abstract Generation Z and millennials are more interested in leading healthy lives. According to Central Agency on Statistics; Statistics Indonesia, 29.94% of Indonesia's population is said to face health issues in 2022. They cannot be distinguished from instant food at the same time. Many healthy food supply companies use this to create appealing products for the general public. One is PT Lemonilo Indonesia Sehat, which releases Mie Lemonilo and advertises it as healthy noodles without the 3Ps (preservatives, artificial colors, and flavors). Along with providing nutritious food items, Lemonilo has partnered with South Korean boyband NCT Dream, whose appealing image is seen to fit with the brand's reputation. This study aims to determine whether NCT Dream's role as a brand ambassador can boost consumers' interest in purchasing Lemonilo goods. Popularity and awards in the form of photo cards were investigated as indicators in this study, while purchase intention was the independent variable. The quantitative method is used in this associative form of research. This study used a simple random sample of 183 respondents from the Twitter base of @nct_menfess between the ages of 15 and 30. The research results show that NCT Dream as a brand ambassador can influence buying interest in the community by 25.23%. At the same time, the rest are other factors outside of research.  Keywords: Popularity, Prizes, NCT Dream, Purchase Intention
