Abstract

Competence as a mastery possessed by a person needs to be improved with the right method. This study aims to develop a character-based learning method in the Computer Aided Design (CAD) course, improve learning outcomes and determine the increase in competence. The method used is an experiment, with a classroom action research approach. The learning process is managed with group management based on character suitability. The sample is students who take the CAD course. The results of the study showed that the character learning management model received very good criteria. This criterion is based on statements from students and lecturers. The results of the learning process can be concluded that learning grouping can be used to improve the competence of student learning outcomes in sketch material. This can be seen from the first reflection test of 40 students, 9 (22%) met the competency standard, reflection II 31 (78%) students met the standard and reflection III only 1 student did not meet it, in addition there was an increase in learning outcomes from a score of 66 to 80.

Abstract

This article examines the implementation of the Game-Based Learning (GBL) model in lathe machining education at vocational high schools (SMK). Lathe machining is a manufacturing process that produces cylindrical machine components using a lathe, in which the workpiece rotates and is subjected to a single-point cutting tool aligned with the workpiece axis. To improve the quality of lathe machining education, an effective instructional model such as Game-Based Learning is needed. This research applies a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach to identify and analyze six relevant studies published between 2020 and 2025 based on inclusion criteria. The findings show that GBL has a positive impact on increasing students’ learning motivation, engagement, and learning outcomes in lathe machining practice. The study concludes that GBL is an effective solution for practice-based learning in vocational education and recommends its wider adoption in technical vocational training.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an Android-based learning media in the form of a welding simulation application to support practical learning in Vocational High Schools (SMK). The background of this research is limited practical facilities, limited learning time, and low student engagement in direct welding practice. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The application was developed and validated by four experts, consisting of two material experts and two media experts. The validation results by the material experts showed a feasibility level of 87.25%, categorized as "very feasible," while the validation results by the media experts obtained a score of 90.27%, categorized as "very feasible." Field trials were conducted on 24 eleventh-grade students at a vocational high school, and student responses showed a feasibility level of 89.41%. This application has been proven to improve understanding of basic welding concepts and skills independently and is an effective alternative to overcome the limitations of physical practice at school. This media is deemed feasible and has the potential for further development on other platforms as a technology-based vocational learning solution.

Abstract

This study aims to develop interactive PowerPoint-based learning media for Engineering Drawing, specifically the topic of American Projections, and to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of this media in improving student learning outcomes. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) development model. The developed learning media was validated by material experts and media experts, with an assessment of 84% from the material experts (very feasible category) and 75% from the media experts (feasible category). The trial was conducted in class X of Mechanical Drawing at a Vocational High School (SMK), which showed an increase in the average score of student learning outcomes, from 51.67 (pre-test) to 86.67 (post-test). The results of the effectiveness analysis using the N-Gain formula showed a score of 0.71 or 71.46%, which is included in the moderately effective category. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the developed interactive PowerPoint-based learning media is feasible and effective for use in Engineering Drawing learning, specifically for the topic of American Projections. This media also has the potential to increase student engagement and learning outcomes interactively at vocational high schools.

Abstract

Syntactic foam is a lightweight, high‑strength composite consisting of a polymer matrix filled with hollow microspheres (microballoons). This study examines how the volume fraction of glass‑clad silica microballoons K15 (10–50 vol %) affects the density, porosity, and void distribution of epoxy‑bonded syntactic foams. Specimens were molded in accordance with ASTM D790, conditioned for 48 h (23 ± 2 °C; 50  ±  5 % RH), and their density was measured by the pycnometric method specified in ASTM D792. Porosity was calculated theoretically and validated by SEM–EDS imaging of fracture cross‑sections. Results show a linear decrease in density from 1.15 g cm⁻³ (0 vol %) to 0.63 g cm⁻³ (50 vol %), while porosity rises exponentially from 2.7 % to 18.4 %. Morphological analysis confirms a homogeneous microballoon dispersion up to 30 vol %, but agglomeration and interbinder voids appear above 40 vol %, leading to uncontrolled porosity. A strong negative correlation (R² = 0.96) is observed between density and effective porosity. A 30 vol % K15 loading is identified as the optimum, achieving a 28 % density reduction without a significant porosity spike. These findings provide a basis for designing sandwich cores and amphibious flotation structures that require high strength‑to‑weight ratios.

Abstract

The aim of this design is to obtain a design for the tension control system and the automatic system, which are the two mechanisms in the unwind, accompanied by an estimate of the design costs. The design process was carried out using the French method. This method is often used for new products or still has few competitors, with the advantage of being able to facilitate the selection of product concept variants efficiently when designing products that have many limitations in terms of variants. Based on the validation results, the second concept design used is a tension measurement mechanism using a load cell and speed regulation using a magnetic powder brake. The results of numerical calculations show that the maximum rotation torque value of the printed material is 13.6 Nm, the maximum speed is 628.24 rpm, and the maximum stress value measured is 206.122 N. Based on the validation results, the second concept design is a movement mechanism that uses four pneumatic cylinders to move the frame and cutter. The results of numerical calculations show that the time required to cut the material is 0.24 seconds, and the time required to return to its original position is 2.25 seconds. The amount of air required for one cutting cycle is 37.83 ×10-6 m3/s. The estimated cost of designing the overall unwind unit based on the components used is IDR. 74,873,625.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are: 1) Analyzing the effect of sterilization temperature and time on protein content in soft spiny milkfish, 2) Analyzing the effect of sterilization temperature and time on the bacterial content in soft spiny milkfish, and 3) Knowing the ideal temperature and time in the milkfish sterilization process soft spines. There are various types of diversification of processed milkfish, including processing it into presto milkfish. The shelf life of pressure-cooked milkfish can be increased by sterilization using a high-pressure pressure cooker using a retort tool. In this study, the sterilization process used a combination of temperatures of 110°C, 121°C, 130°C, and times of 10, 20, and 30 minutes. The research method uses an experimental approach. The research location is CV Sekar Tekno, Semarang. The data collection technique uses observation, which is carried out by systematically observing and recording the symptoms being investigated. Data analysis techniques use descriptive statistics and analysis of variance/ANOVA. The results of the research showed that the effect of temperature and time on the sterilization process of soft spiny milkfish did not have a significant effect on the protein content of soft spiny milkfish. Although the protein content of soft spiny milkfish experienced changes up and down during the sterilization process, the protein content did not decrease significantly. The effect of high temperature in the sterilization process of soft spiny milkfish has a significant effect on the number of bacteria present in soft spiny milkfish after the sterilization process. This is indicated by the phenomenon of a constant decrease/value of bacterial content as shown in the following data: temperature 110°C is 148.44 CFU/g, temperature 121°C is 86.78 CFU/g, and temperature 130°C is 25.44 CFU/g. On the other hand, the effect of long sterilization time on the bacterial content of soft spiny milkfish tends to show an up-and-down phenomenon. This is indicated by an increasing trend in the number of bacteria at 30 minutes, which was 125 CFU/g. This phenomenon is caused by a leak in the retort pack used for soft spiny milkfish and other causes that are not yet known for certain in this process. Based on the results of the effect of temperature and time on protein levels and bacterial content, it shows that a temperature of 130°C has a high protein content of 16.6% with the lowest bacterial content, namely 45 CFU/g. At 20 minutes, it had a high protein content of 14.296% with the lowest bacterial content, namely 32.67 CFU/g. So the ideal temperature and time for the sterilization process of soft spiny milkfish is 130°C and 20 minutes

Abstract

Autodesk Inventor software learning in manufacturing drawing subjects in vocational schools requires the support of interactive visual-based media to make complex technical materials easier for students to understand. The weakness of conventional methods in conveying this concept requires a breakthrough through the use of modern learning technology. This study focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of using PowerPoint-based multimedia to improve students' mastery of Autodesk Inventor. The research design used the purposive sampling method with pre-test and post-test models in two groups involving 60 students in grade XI of Mechanical Engineering at SMK Negeri 5 Semarang. The experimental group made use of interactive PowerPoint media, while the control group continued to use traditional methods. The results showed a significant increase in the experimental group with a p< value of 0.05 and an N-Gain value of 0.499 much higher than the control group with only 0.148. Thus, the use of interactive PowerPoint has proven to be effective in strengthening students' understanding of assembly engineering materials in a more interesting, flexible, and appropriate way for learning needs.

Abstract

Abstrak: UKM Tahu Ngaran merupakan industri rumah tangga yang produktif secara ekonomi. Mitra diketuai oleh pak Muhtadi yang beranggotan 7 orang yang berlokasi di Kecamatan Gunungpati Semarang. Setiap harinya Tahu Ngaran mampu produksi 11-13 kali proses produksi tahu. Permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra yaitu tungku masakan belum menggunakan teknologi dan mitra belum melakukan branding produk dan pengemasan produk tahu. Tujuan dari kegiatan PKM untuk meningkatkan efisiensi energi dan produktivitas UKM Tahu Ngaran, sehingga dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan mitra. Untuk mencapai tujuan kegiatan maka metode yang dilakukan meliputi sosialisasi, praktek, pendampingan dan evaluasi. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui tanya jawab secara langsung kepada mitra dan pengamatan saat kegiatan berlangsung. Setelah kegiatan program selesai tim akan melakukan pemantauan akan keberlangsungan program di lokasi mitra. Hasil PkM diperoleh tungku masakan yang memberikan hemat waktu perebusan 33,33% dan penghematan kayu bakar 33,33%. Dengan demikian mitra dapat meningkatkan laba sebesar 67,26% sehingga dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan UKM Tahu Ngaran. Produk Tahu Ngaran sudah dipasarkan berkemasan dengan nama brand “Tahu Ngaran”.Abstract: UKM Tahu Ngaran is an economically productive home industry. The partner organization, led by Mr. Muhtadi, consists of 7 members and is in Gunungpati District, Semarang. Daily production at Tahu Ngaran involves 11 to 13 batches of tofu processing. The primary challenges faced by the partner included the use of non-technological cooking stoves and a lack of product branding and packaging. The objective of this Community Partnership Program (PKM) activity was to enhance energy efficiency and productivity for UKM Tahu Ngaran, thereby improving the welfare of the partners. To achieve this objective, the methodology employed involved a series of steps: socialization, practical training, mentorship, and evaluation. The evaluation was conducted through direct interviews (Q&A) with the partners and observational monitoring during the activity. Upon completion of the program, the team will continue to monitor the sustainability of the program at the partner's location. The results of the PKM included the implementation of a new cooking stove, which yielded a 33.33% reduction in boiling time and a 33.33% saving in firewood consumption. Consequently, the partner was able to increase profit by 67.26%, successfully improving the welfare of UKM Tahu Ngaran. The Tahu Ngaran product is now marketed in branded packaging under the name "Tahu Ngaran".

Abstract

AbstrakIkan nila salin (Oreochromis niloticus) merupakan sektor unggulan perikanan Indonesia. Produksi ikan nila salin pada tahun 2024 mengalami peningkatan mencapai angka 1,38 ton. Salah satu daerah di Indonesia yang mempunyai potensi komoditas unggulan ikan nila salin adalah Kabupaten Pati. Desa Tunggulsari, Kec. Tayu, Kab. Pati dikenal sebagai sentra budidaya ikan nila salin nasional. Hal ini berdasarkan Keputusan Menteri Kelautan dan Perikanan Republik Indonesia Nomor 111 Tahun 2023 tentang Kampung Perikanan Budidaya. Oleh karena itu, mayoritas masyarakat Tunggulsari adalah petani tambak. Tidak hanya ikan nila salin, tetapi di Tunggulsari juga banyak dibudidayakan jenis udang. Berdasarkan potensi dan keunggulan tersebutlah, Desa Tunggulsari menjadi lokasi pengabdian masyarakat skema Pemberdayaan Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM). Meskipun demikian, masih ditemukan berbagai kendala yang ada di Desa Tunggulsari terkait budidaya perikanan. Permasalahan utama adalah masih terbatasnya alat-alat produksi sehingga seringkali budidaya yang dilakukan belum optimal. Tidak hanya itu, permasalahan aspek pemasaran juga menjadi problematika sampai sekarang ini. Metode kegiatan pengabdian adalah sosialisasi, pelatihan, penerapan teknologi, pendampingan dan evaluasi serta keberlanjutan program.Teknologi dan inovasi yang diterapkan adalah bantuan sarana produksi seperti kincir air, freezer dan tong pengasapan untuk menunjang olahan pasca panen perikanan. Tidak hanya itu, pelatihan diversifikasi produk yang dipandu langsung oleh Muhammad Ansori, S.T.P., M.P, dengan mengolah bahan baku ikan nila salin menjadi bakso dan stik ikan. Sementara, anggota PKM Moch Faizal Rachmadi, S.Pd., M.Pd juga mendampingi terkait pemasaran dan desain kemasan. Pemasaran yang dilakukan adalah berbasis digital (digital marketing) sehingga mampu dijangkau konsumen secara luas. Kata kunci: ikan nila salin; olahan produk; pemasaran digital; produk unggulan daerah; teknologi budidaya. AbstractSaline tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is a leading fishery sector in Indonesia. Saline tilapia production in 2024 increased to 1.38 tons. One of the regions in Indonesia with the potential for superior saline tilapia commodities is Pati Regency. Tunggulsari Village, Tayu District, Pati Regency is known as a national saline tilapia cultivation center. This is based on the Decree of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia Number 111 of 2023 concerning Aquaculture Villages. Therefore, the majority of Tunggulsari residents are pond farmers. Not only saline tilapia, but Tunggulsari also cultivates many types of shrimp. Based on this potential and excellence, Tunggulsari Village became the location for community service under the Community Partnership Empowerment (PKM) scheme. However, various obstacles remain in Tunggulsari Village related to fisheries cultivation. The main problem is the limited production equipment, which often results in suboptimal cultivation. Furthermore, marketing issues are also a problem to this day. The community service activity method is socialization, training, technology application, mentoring and evaluation as well as program sustainability. The technology and innovation applied are assistance with production facilities such as water wheels, freezers and smoking barrels to support post-harvest fisheries processing. Not only that, product diversification training guided directly by Muhammad Ansori, S.T.P., M.P, by processing saline tilapia raw materials into meatballs and fish sticks. Meanwhile, PKM member Moch Faizal Rachmadi, S.Pd., M.Pd also assisted with marketing and packaging design. The marketing carried out is digital-based (digital marketing) so that it can be reached by consumers widely. Keywords: tilapia salt; processed products; digital marketing; regional superior products; cultivation technology.
