Abstract

Background: According to the 2014 World Health Organization, the causes of child stunting include maternal nutritional status, exclusive breastfeeding, inadequate food intake and infectious diseases. In addition, other factors that affect the nutritional status of stunting are maternal characteristics of age, education, occupation or height Aims: To describe the feeding parenting pattern and the level of education of the caregivers for stunting children. Methods: This research is a cross sectional descriptive study. The research population was all stunting children in the Tete Health Center working area with a total of 154 children with a sample of 61 people. The sampling technique used proportional random sampling. Data were obtained from respondents by means of interviews using questionnaires and univariate data analysis. Results: The results of the study showed that the parenting pattern of feeding stunting children was no IMD 95.1%, not exclusive breastfeeding 63.9%, complementary feeding at the age of 6-8 months with a frequency of 2.6 times/day with a total of 0.5 servings/day. , ages 9-11 months frequency is 3 times/day with a total of 0.75 servings/day, ages 12-23 months the frequency is 3 times/day with a total of 0.75 servings/day, texture does not match 63.9%, does not vary 100 %. Parenting related to cleanliness, namely mothers do not clean their children's teeth every day 68.9%, children do not wear shoes when playing outside the house 57.4%, mothers do not clean their children's milk bottles after use (who use) 68.9%, and the level of caregiver education is SMA/MA 82.0%. Conclusion: The conclusion of the feeding parenting pattern starting from IMD, exclusive breastfeeding, MP-ASI, and the level of education of the mother in the working area of ​​the Tete Health Center, Tojo Una-Una Regency is still low, the mother's education is on average high school/MA. It is suggested that the Tete Health Center is able to improve education and innovation programs about the importance of the role of feeding parenting in children.

Abstract

The knowledge and skills of community health workers (Posyandu’s cadre) in filling of Towards Health Card (KMS) play an important role in monitoring the growth of toddlers. To analyze the knowledge and skills of community health workers in filling out the health card (KMS) in the Kayuwou Health Center Work Area, Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi.  This study was an analytic observational study using a cross-sectional design with a total sample of 39 people taken by simple random sampling. Data collection techniques were carried out by interviews and performance. Analysis was performed by chi-square test.  The results showed that most of the respondents had sufficient knowledge about KMS (59.0%) and were classified as skilled in completing KMS (61.5%). The working status of cadres has a significant relationship with the skills of cadres in completing the KMS (p<0.05).  It is better if people who are appointed as community health workers are people who are not working so they can focus more on carrying out their duties as cadres.

Abstract

Food diversification efforts to reduce dependence on wheat flour by exploring other food potentials such as pumpkin pumpkin (Curcurbita Moschata) and snakehead fish (Channa Striata) which have long been known to the Indonesian public need to be done. The aim of this study was to determine the acceptability of noodles made frompumpkin flour and snakehead fish. Type of research is an organoleptic test (hedonic quality) on noodle products with 4 parameters, namely color, aroma, texture and taste. 1: 1: 1), product 2 (0: 1: 1), and product 3 (0.66: 1: 1). The panelists in this study were 25 somewhat trained researchers. The results show that the level of liking (acceptance) for product 1, product 2 and product 3 for color parameters respectively were 68%, 60%, 52%; aroma 40%, 52%, 44%; texture 36%, 48%, 48%; and taste 36%, 52%, 40%. The Kruskal wallis test showed no difference in color, aroma, texture, and taste for the all products. The conclusion is that the color parameters of product 1, product 2, and product 3 are accepted, while the aroma parameter received is product 2, and no texture parameter is accepted, and the taste parameter received is only product 2. It is recommended that further modification of the composition of the ingredients be made so that the texture of the noodles can be more acceptable.

Abstract

Remaja putri mengalami anemia selain disebabkan karena menstruasi tiap bulannya, juga disebabkan karena konsumsi makanan. Berdasarkan penelitian konsumsi makanan berkaitan erat dengan tingkat pengetahuan seseorang. Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang anemia gizi melalui edukasi berbasis WhatsApp group (WAG) pada remaja putri di SMPN 18 Palu. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat berupa kegiatan edukasi dengan cara pemberian materi melalui WAG. Kelompok sasaran kegiatan adalah remaja putri (siswi) di SMPN 18 Palu. Kegiatan dimulai dengan tatap muka langsung di kelas terlebih dahulu kemudian dilanjutkan dengan pendampingan melalui WAG. Kelompok sasaran dilakukan pretest dan post test untuk mengukur perubahan pengetahuan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukan terjadi peningkatan persentase kelompok sasaran dengan pengetahuan baik 78,4% sebelum edukasi menjadi 98% setelah dilakukan edukasi. Kegiatan seperti ini perlu terus dilakukan sebagai langkah pencegahan kejadian anemia pada remaja putri.

Abstract

Masalah gizi pada usia sekolah masih kerap mengancam kualitas generasi. Salah satu penyebabnya adalah kurangnya pengetahuan terkait gizi seimbang. Tujuan kegiatan ini untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang gizi seimbang pada siswa SDN 20 Balaesang Kabupaten Donggala. Pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat berupa kegiatan edukasi dengan cara pemberian materi melalui media video. Kelompok sasaran kegiatan adalah anak siswa SDN 20 Balaesang Donggala. Sebelum dilakukan edukasi, terlebih dahulu dilakukan pre test untuk mengukur pengetahuan awal kelompok sasaran, kemudian di akhir kegiatan dilakukan post test untuk mengetahui perubahan pengetahuan. Materi edukasi yang diberikan berupa infromasi terkait gizi seimbang. Hasil menunjukan tingkat pengetahuan gizi sebelum dilakukan edukasi sebagian besar berpengetahuan kurang (95,8%), sedangkan sesudah dilakukan edukasi mengalami peningkatan dengan kategori pengetahuan baik 66,7%. Uji statistik menunjukan ada pengaruh edukasi menggunakan media video terdadap pengetahuan gizi Seimbang (p<0,005). Kegiatan edukasi yang melibatkan anak-anak sebagai kelompok sasaran hendaknya dikemas menggunakan media yang menarik atau dalam bentuk permainan.

Abstract

Kemajuan teknologi sangat berkembang dengan begitu pesat, sehingga kebutuhan adanya aplikasi yang membantu perhitungan sangat urgen bagi tenaga gizi. Saat ini belum ada aplikasi serupa yang dibuat sebagai alat bantu perhitungan serapan minyak dan berat matang mentah pada makanan sesuai dengan referensi buku pedoman penyerapan minyak goreng dan pedoman konversi berat matang-mentah dan berat dapat dimakan. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk melakukan pengembangan aplikasi perhitungan berat matang mentah dan serapan minyak pada makanan dan melakukan uji coba penggunaanya terhadap aplikasi yang telah dikembangkan. Bentuk kegiatan adalah pengembangan aplikasi berbasis android untuk perhitungan konversi matang-mentah, berat dapat dimakan (BDD), dan persentase serapan minyak. Hasil pengembangan aplikasi pada penelitian ini diberi nama Food Weight Calculation disingkat dengan FoWCal. Hasil uji coba penggunaannya diperoleh rata-rata adalah (skor maksimal 4) pada setiap parameter yaitu tampilan awal 3,37 (sangat menarik), animasi 3,33 (sangat menarik), warna (sangat menarik), login 3,33 (sangat mudah), pencarian 3,26 (sangat mudah), fitur 3,14 (mudah), perhitungan 3,40 (sangat praktis), membantu perhitungan 3,53 (sangat membantu), kesesuain 3,33 (sangat sesuai), pemahaman penggunaan 2,95 (paham). Aplikasi FoWCal sangat menarik dan membantu bagi penggiat gizi. Aplikasi ini agar dapat dikembangkan lagi sehingga dapat digunakan secara offline.

Abstract

Stunting remains a serious public health issue in Indonesia. The Family Assistance Program for Stunted Children under two years old with the Implementation of Interprofessional Collaboration in Beka Village, Marawola, Sigi District aims to implement Family Assistance for Stunted Children within the context of Interprofessional Collaboration to reduce stunting prevalence in Beka Village, Sigi District. Partners in this community service initiative include the Beka Village Head, Posyandu Cadres, Midwives, Nutritionists, and Marawola Community Health Center Doctors. Community service methods involve collaboration among various healthcare professions Midwives, Nurses, Sanitarians, Nutritionists, Doctors and community members such as Cadres, PKK Mothers, and Village Officials. Implemented in Beka Village, Marawola District, Sigi District, from January 10-31, 2024. It began with a Focus Group Discussion between the Service Providers from the Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health in Palu and the Beka Village Head, followed by education for 20 mothers of stunted children and 10 Posyandu cadres, and a 15-day Family Assistance for Stunted Children. The Service Providers handed over 2 anthropometric measuring tools and healthy snack bars to the Beka Village Government. Results of community service showed increased knowledge and healthy behaviors among toddler families and a decrease in stunting rates in Sigi District. The conclusion of this program is that Interprofessional Collaboration can be an effective model in addressing stunting at the community level.

Abstract

Introduction: COVID-19 infected millions of people and became the main mortality worldwide. COVID-19 also affected other health problems, including nutritional problems. This study aimed to find the factors that affected the nutritional and socio-economic status during the COVID-19 pandemic in a neighborhood of DKI Jakarta.Methods: This study utilized a cross-sectional design. Total sampling method on all families who had children in the 9th Neighborhood, Cawang Sub-District, DKI Jakarta was used. A total of 72 families were involved in this study, and the informants of this study were mothers of under five children. This study utilized a modified questionnaire from the Indonesian National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) and the Indonesian Nutritional Status Study (SSGI). This study utilized bivariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis.Results: From all of 72 families with children, it was found that eight children were wasting. The Job-Loss (PHK) has an OR of 37.8 (95%CI: 5.87-748.53; p=0.001), while below poverty line had an OR of 14.24 (95%CI: 3.55-170.35; p=0.004) to be wasted. The multivariate analysis had included covariates such as parental occupation, parental education, and antenatal care (ANC). Job-Loss and Below Poverty Line were the main factors in increasing the risk of malnutrition cases after controlled by covariates. Conclusion: The decrease in socio-economic status of a family during the pandemic, increased the risk of wasted children. Improvements in policy interventions and socio-economic aids are necessary to improve the nutritional status of under five children in the lower-middle class during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Di Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah tahun 2018 terdapat 32,5% balita yang mengalami stunting yang bermakna sebagai masalah kesehatan masyarakat dan dianggap serius. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran status riwayat berat badan lahir rendah, inisiasi menyusui dini dan ASI ekslusif pada balita stunting di Kelurahan Duyu wilayah kerja Puskesmas Sangurara. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 50 balita stunting. Data diperoleh dengan cara wawancara menggunakan kuesioner terstruktur. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa balita stunting dengan status riwayat berat badan lahir rendah (BBLR) yaitu 6 orang (12,0%), tidak dilakukan inisiasi menyusu dini (IMD) yaitu 38 orang (76,0%), dan riwayat tidak diberikan ASI Ekslusif yaitu 35 orang (70,0%). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah hanya sebagian kecil balita stunting memiliki riwayat BBLR, namun sebagian besar balita stunting memiliki riwayat tidak IMD dan tidak diberikan ASI Ekslusif.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that results from prolonged malnutrition. It is also considered a malnutrition status not only due to the height of the parents but also because of various socio-economic and demographic factors. These factors include family sizes, birth spacing of children, family socio-economic status, parental education levels, parental occupations, and specific nutritional interventions, such as Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (IMD), iron and folic acid supplementation (TTD), exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding (MP ASI), and immunization. This research aimed to analyze the influence of socio-economic demographic characteristics and specific nutritional interventions on families with stunted toddlers in the working area of the Jambula Community Health Center. The study employed an analytical survey design, with total sampling (non-probability sampling) involving a population of stunted toddlers. The results of this research showed the following associations between socio-economic demographic characteristics and stunting: number of family members (OR = 0.842, p = 0.043 < 0.05), birth spacing (OR = 9.3, p = 0.013 < 0.05), family socioeconomic status (OR = 11.8, p = 0.045 < 0.05), father’s education (OR = 0.49, p = 0.445 > 0.05), mother’s education (OR = 1.0, p = 0.979 > 0.05), and parental occupation (OR = 0.324, p = 0.11 > 0.05). Regarding specific nutritional interventions, significant factors were Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (IMD) (OR = 0.76, p = 0.024 < 0.05), iron and folic acid supplementation (TTD) (OR = 5.9, p = 0.02 < 0.05), exclusive breastfeeding (OR = 0.6, p = 0.015 < 0.05), complementary feeding (MP ASI) (OR = 0.678, p = 0.039 < 0.05), and immunization (OR = 1.6, p = 0.016 < 0.05). In conclusion, factors that significantly influence the incidence of stunting in toddlers in the Jambula Health Center working area include the number of family members, birth spacing, family socio-economic status, Early Initiation of Breastfeeding, iron and folic acid supplementation, exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and immunization
