Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This research aimed at (1) finding out whether there is an effect of Problem Based Learning (PBL) assisted by the desmos application on the mathematical literacy skills of MAS Al Washliyah 12 Perbaungan students (2) finding out the effectiveness of using the desmos application in quadratic function materials on the mathematical literacy skills of MAS Al Washliyah 12 students. This is a mix method with factorial experiment design. The population is all students of class X MAS Al Washliyah 12 Perbaungan academic year 2022/2023. The sample is determined by Simple Random Sampling. The data collection technique in this study is in the form of a description test in the form of pre-test and post-test and data analysis is carried out with the Independent Sample t test. The results of the test calculation t were obtained by score signifikan 0,000 < 0,05. The results of the effectiveness questionnaire with an average value of the experimental class of 3.68, the control class of 3.57 and the percentage of the experimental class of 73,63%, the control class of 71.37%. Therefore it can be concluded that: 1) There is an Effect of the Effect of the Problem Based Learning Model Assisted by the Desmos Application on the Ability of Mathematical Literacy of MAS Al Washliyah Students 12 Perbaungan; 2) The Effectiveness of the Use of the Desmos Application in the quadratic function material on the Mathematical Literacy Ability of MAS Al Washliyah 12 Perbaungan.

Abstract

Technological developments require teachers to integrate interactive digital media to improve the quality of 21st-century learning. However, early observations at SMP Negeri 3 Tanjung Beringin showed that the utilization of web-based learning media was not optimal despite the availability of supporting facilities. This community service activity aims to introduce the Wordwall platform as an interactive learning media solution and to enhance teachers’ pedagogical competence in operating its features. The implementation method uses a learning-by-doing approach, which includes the preparation stage, workshops through lectures and demonstrations, independent practice in content creation, and evaluation. The results show a significant increase in teachers’ understanding and technical skills in developing digital learning media. Teachers were able to explore quiz features, games, and even printable formats (PDF) to overcome network constraints. In conclusion, this activity successfully narrowed the digital literacy gap and increased teacher motivation to create a more dynamic and student-centered learning environment at SMP Negeri 3 Tanjung Beringin.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the validity, effectiveness, and efficiency of the Missouri Mathematics Project model, supported by Microsoft Math Solver, for students' mathematical critical thinking skills. The study used the ADIIE model, with a sample of 30 students from grade X-3 at Bina Bersaudra School. The results showed that the classical learning outcomes achieved in the final trial were 76.6%, categorized as high, meeting the classical learning outcomes desired by the researcher. The final trial student response questionnaire score was 86.3%. The validator declared the MMP learning model and the developed learning instruments feasible based on all validity aspects, categorized as valid. The conclusion is that student responses are very effective for mathematical critical thinking skills. Practicality in mathematics learning, with an average score of 96.6%, categorized as very practical in the mathematics learning process.   Keywords: Mathematical Critical Thinking, Microsoft Math Solver, Missouri Mathematics Project Model

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model based on Malay culture with the assistance of the educational game Wordwall to improve junior high school students’ numeracy skills. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research subjects were 40 eighth-grade students of SMP Swasta Al Washliyah 8 Medan. The results showed that the developed MMP model based on Malay culture was valid, practical, and effective in enhancing students’ numeracy abilities. The model’s validity, obtained through validation by material experts, media experts, and cultural experts, reached an average of 96.6% (very valid category). The practicality of the model, assessed by teachers and students, achieved an average score of 88.6% (very practical category). The learning effectiveness was reflected in the improvement of students’ numeracy test results, with an N-Gain score of 0.86 (high category). The integration of Malay culture in mathematics learning provided a more meaningful context for students, while the use of Wordwall increased engagement and learning motivation. Therefore, this model is feasible to be implemented as an innovative learning alternative to improve students’ literacy and numeracy skills at the junior high school level.
