Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of community language variations on the WhatsApp social network and describe the causes of language variations in the WhatsApp social network community. This research uses descriptive qualitative research to accurately describe the characteristics of a particular individual, condition, symptom, or group, or to determine the frequency or distribution of a symptom and other symptoms and for data analysis techniques in the form of intralinguistic equivalent method that uses things which concerns the meaning, information, context of speech as the determinant. In this study, the authors analyzed two communities, namely: 1) the Fun Futsal Samarinda community and 2) the Super Junior & ELF community. From the results of the analysis, the authors get 56 data from the speech of the two communities, which can be classified into: 1) language variations of dialect variety, 2) language variations of kolokia variety, 3) language variations of slang variety, and 4) language variations of colloquial variety. The cause of language variation in the two communities is code mixing and slang. The use of code mixing and slang is considered as a way to facilitate communication among community members.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the strata (layers) of norms contained in the Elegi Sampah Garbage by Sri Setianingsih. The method used in this research is descriptive, while the approach used is a structural approach, namely an approach that trying to understand poetry from the elements inherent in poetry in the form of layers of norms in a poem poetry creation. Sources of data taken through the poetry anthology book Sajak Cermin by Sri Setianingsih entitled Elegi Sampah. The data analysis technique in this research is the content analysis. This technique tries to analyze documents to find out their contents and meanings contained in the document. Based on the results of research and discussion, it can be concluded that the result is to discuss the various strata (layers) of norms that contained in the poem Elegi Sampah by Sri Setianingsih. The strata (layers) of norms discussed These are the sound layer, the meaning layer, the object layer, the world layer and the metaphysical layer.

Abstract

Groups in society use jargon to communicate using their own more specific language, therefore they can foster a sense of ownership or loyalty to a particular group. Jargon is usually used so that gamers know the meaning of a certain group word in a group of people or to show identity. them, for example in playing the PUBG Mobile Game, researchers feel the need for deepening of the forms and benefits of terms that are often not understood by community groups in general. Jargon shows how many options are available. The place you live in, the age you have, the social level you occupy can show the diversity of language variations. This study aims to (1) describe the form of jargon used in the PUBG Mobile online game community in the city of Samarinda. (2) Describe the meaning of jargon used in the PUBG Mobile online game community in the city of Samarinda. (3) Describe the function of the jargon used in the PUBG Mobile online game community in the city of Samarinda. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive research method and the data that becomes the object is the language jargon used by the PUBG mobile online game community. The data collection techniques were observation, note taking, recording, and direct fishing. Based on the results of data analysis, the forms of jargon found in this research are the basic Indonesian word form, reduplication form, abbreviation form, acronym form and adaptation form. The meaning found in this study is in the form of lexical meaning and contextual meaning. The function of the PUBG Mobile game community jargon is to facilitate communication between PUBG Mobile players.

Abstract

Semakin kurangnya minat generasi muda menggunakan ungkapan melalui peribahasa. Dengan adanya penelitian ini, harapan peneliti bisa menjadi bentuk pelestarian peribahasa kutai dan kesadaran untuk mencintai budaya sendiri yang tertuang dalam peribahasa. Tujuan penelitian Analisis Makna Peribahasa untuk mendeskripsikan makna peribahasa Kutai di Desa Puan Cepak Kecamatan Muara Kaman dan mendeskripsikan situasi pengguna peribahasa di Desa Puan Cepak Kecamatan Muara Kaman. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan catat untuk mendapatkan data yang akurat dari sumber data atau informan. Dari hasil penelitian yang diperoleh setelah melakukan penelitian di Desa Puan Cepak didapatkan 20 peribahasa. Setelah data tersebut dianalisis, kemudian dideskripsikan makna peribahasa yang terkandung dengan melihat makna denotasi dan makna konotasi, kemudian diklasifikasikan dari segi situasi pengguna peribahasa yang mencakup ruang lingkup keluarga dan masyarakat.

Abstract

Indonesia is endowed with abundant natural resources (SDA); however, unsustainable exploitation has resulted in severe environmental consequences. East Kalimantan, as a major hub for the coal mining industry, faces significant challenges related to illegal mining, which is spread across 168 locations. The negative impacts extend beyond environmental degradation, leading to fatalities due to abandoned mining pits that were never reclaimed. In this context, mass media serves as a public watchdog through critical and in-depth reporting. However, local journalists encounter various challenges in covering mining issues, including pressure from capital owners, risks of criminalization, and limited access to resources. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Press Law in supporting press freedom and the challenges local journalists face in exposing mining realities in East Kalimantan. A qualitative approach with literature review methods was employed. The study results indicate that although local media such as RRI, Kaltim Post, Kaltim Kece, and TVRI fulfill their supervisory role as mandated by the Press Law, pressure from mining companies and political interests often obstruct objective and balanced reporting. Therefore, strengthening regulations and legal protections for journalists is essential to ensure that they can carry out their journalistic duties professionally, transparently, and responsibly, in line with the principles of environmental journalism.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami motif penggunaan Twitter @ohmybeautybank terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi kecantikan dengan menggunakan analisis teori Uses and Gratification yang diperkenalkan oleh Herbert Blumer dan Elihu Katz pada tahun 1974. Teori ini berpusat pada khalayak karena khalayaklah yang aktif mencari dan menentukan media mana yang dapat memenuhi kebutuhan mereka. Adapun kebutuhan  individual yang dipuaskan media menurut Katz, Gurevitch, dan Haas yaitu kebutuhan kognitif, afektif, integrasi personal, integrasi sosial, dan pelepasan ketegangan. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah remaja akhir berusia 18-22 tahun mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Mulawarman. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi pada tiga narasumber yang merupakan followers dari akun Twitter @ohmybeautybank. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa motif menggunakan akun @ohmybeautybank didorong oleh kebutuhan kognitif, afektif, integrasi personal, dan pelepasan ketegangan. Sedangkan kebutuhan integrasi sosial tidak menjadi salah satu motif utama pengguna memperkuat hubungan dengan orang lain dalam menjalankan peran sebagai makhluk sosial.

Abstract

Yenprima Mebel adalah toko furniture online yang memanfaatkan media sosial, khususnya Instagram, sebagai platform promosi yang kreatif dan efektif dengan biaya rendah. Strategi ini dilakukan untuk meningkatkan brand awareness melalui beberapa unsur Social Media Marketing, yaitu Customer Engagement, Viral Marketing, Buzz Marketing, Peer Influence, dan Online Communities. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi terhadap pengelola akun Instagram @yenprima_mebel serta dua orang konsumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Yenprima secara aktif menyesuaikan konten dengan tren, memperhatikan umpan balik konsumen, serta menjalin interaksi langsung yang mampu meningkatkan kepercayaan dan ketertarikan pelanggan. Kolaborasi dengan influencer yang sesuai juga menjadi salah satu strategi efektif dalam memperluas jangkauan audiens. Namun, partisipasi dalam komunitas daring seperti grup diskusi atau forum di Instagram masih belum maksimal. Secara keseluruhan, komunikasi pemasaran melalui Instagram berkontribusi signifikan terhadap peningkatan kesadaran merek Yenprima Mebel di tengah persaingan bisnis furniture secara digital.   Kata Kunci: Komunikasi Pemasaran, Pemasaran Media Sosial, Instagram, Kesadaran Merek.

Abstract

The character education values in movies and contexts and social functions can be relevated and implemented in the schools and universities. Some of the educational values of the characters in the film include religious, honestly, and discipline, hard work, creativity, self-sufficiency, the spirit of nationality, and responsibility. How successful the film is in the learning of communication, they can be used in teaching materials. can be expressed and implemented in the daily life of students, like a religious attitude, hard work, creativity, and so on. Then you can use the media to dig creative ideas to write stories. Alangkah Lucunya Negeri Ini constructing the problems of the country of Indonesia, especially in the case of street children. In the film also teaches how street children also have to have a struggle to reach the point of success of a nation. The data in this study of the text from the transcription of dialogue from a film onto words shaped in the form of text and that god is adapted to this main research study. While the data here as a data acquisition will be analyzed. At this stage, look for and collect text conducted by researchers team. Data validation or validity of data in this study by means of collected data. The data collected, collected, and recorded in research activities were selected in right in developing the validity of the data.

Abstract

Social problems in the aspect of street children in Indonesia is still difficult to solve. The Data 2017 issued by the Minister of Social Khofifah Indar Parawansa said there are 4.1 million Indonesian children who are displaced and need protection. Thus, various media attempts to provide criticisms about social conditions in Indonesia, especially through the construction of street children's films. Film of Alangkah Lucunya Negeri Ini describes social problems of street children happening in Indonesia. This study aims to explain how the reception of exformer street children in watching the film Alangkah Lucunya Negeri Ini using the method of reception proposed by Stuart Hall, namely the concept of dominant hegemony, negotiation, and opposition. The results show that informant receptions arise due to different social and cultural dimensions in life as street children in the past. The informants also made the film Alangkah Lucunya Negeri Ini as reflection based on life experience. Thus, the presence of the film gives negative stigma of street children in social relations of society. Scene of film also brings the informant to feel the pleasure of watching that is expressed through both entertaining and emotional forms. Meanwhile, audience also responded activelly to the construction of street children films in social, educational, and religious discourse. Informants who are in the dominant code express their interest in film programs motivated by behavior and social experience as street children. While informants who are in a negotiating position try to be adaptive in adjusting the message in the film, but also have an attitude of opposition as a form of rejection. While the informants who placed themselves in the opposition expressed a different attitude to the construction offered in the film program. There is an element of discomfort with the presence of street children movies in their lives.

Abstract

Movies are part of mass communication and serve as a medium for disseminating information to the public. Movies depict life and contain social stories. Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap is one of Bene Dion's film works that addresses the theme of conflict within a Batak family, reflecting a reality that allows the audience to interpret it in various ways. This research was conducted to analyze how audiences interpret family conflicts in the film Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap. The research uses a qualitative approach method with interviews conducted with five informants selected according to the research criteria. The focus of the research is Stuart Hall's reception theory, dividing interpretations into three categories: dominant hegemonic position, negotiated position, and oppositional position. The data analysis technique used is the Miles and Huberman interactive model data analysis. The results showed that movies still influence audiences in understanding their messages, supported by aspects such as the informants' backgrounds and social lives. The film depicts conflicts between parents and children, such as differences in views on marriage, aspirations, and work. Informants were found to be divided into negotiated and oppositional positions. In the negotiated position, there are informants 3 and 4, which means they understand the movie's meaning but refuse to apply some of its messages. In the oppositional position, there are informants 1, 2, and 5 who reject the family conflict depicted in the movie Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap.
