Abstract

This research examines the role of traditional games in teaching tolerance through a combination of local values and Islamic teachings. The objective of the study is to analyze how games like Engklek, Congklak, and Sepak Takraw can develop students' cooperation and respect for others, in line with Islamic concepts of brotherhood (ukhuwah) and cooperation (ta'awun). Using a qualitative research method, including observations and interviews with educators, the study reveals that traditional games help to foster social interaction while also imparting moral values, enhancing students' understanding of tolerance. The discussion emphasizes the importance of integrating traditional media into Islamic education, merging local wisdom with Islamic principles to build a culture of tolerance and collaboration. The study concludes that traditional games serve as an effective tool for character education in Islamic contexts.

Abstract

Karang Taruna memiliki peran yang signifikan dalam pengembangan masyarakat, termasuk di Desa Jangur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji esensi organisasi Karang Taruna serta mendeskripsikan kontribusinya dalam pemberdayaan masyarakat. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi program pemberdayaan ekonomi, pelatihan keterampilan, serta upaya memperkuat solidaritas dan kemitraan di Desa Jangur. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa Karang Taruna berperan aktif dalam memperkuat jaringan sosial, meningkatkan kualitas hidup, dan mengembangkan potensi lokal. Penelitian ini juga memberikan rekomendasi untuk memperkuat peran Karang Taruna sebagai agen pembangunan berkelanjutan melalui peningkatan program pemberdayaan dan kolaborasi dengan lembaga terkait. Dengan demikian, Karang Taruna dapat terus menjadi motor penggerak dalam mewujudkan kesejahteraan dan pembangunan masyarakat di Desa Jangur.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance students’ motivation and participation in elementary mathematics learning by utilising the interactive digital media “Wordwall” as an alternative solution to the low levels of student interest and engagement in a subject often perceived as complex and less appealing. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design, using data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analysed descriptively through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The informants consisted of the principal, teachers, and fourth-grade students at MI Darus Sholihin, Boto District, Probolinggo Regency. The results of the study indicate that the use of Wordwall media effectively increased students’ motivation and participation in mathematics learning. This is evidenced by the increased number of students who actively asked questions, responded, engaged in discussions, and interacted during the learning process. Moreover, the classroom atmosphere became more conducive, enjoyable, and interactive. Thus, the implementation of Wordwall media serves as an innovative strategy to improve the quality of mathematics learning in elementary schools

Abstract

Educational quality is the result of a structured and sustainable management system involving all stakeholders. Alumni, as both the product and the representation of an institution, possess strategic potential to support quality improvement; however, their role is rarely formally integrated into quality management frameworks based on empowerment theory. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of alumni empowerment, identify its contribution to educational quality, and formulate an integrative conceptual model based on Empowerment Theory and Total Quality Management (TQM). This research employs a qualitative approach with an intrinsic case study design at the Miftahul Ulum Al-Yasini Foundation, Pasuruan Regency. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. Analysis of graduate data for the 2020–2024 period shows a total of 2,426 alumni, with a growth rate of 105.5% over the last three years. Interestingly, it was found that 60–65% of the teaching staff are internal alumni, reflecting a strong structural integration that has yet to be formally managed within a quality assurance system. This study produces an alumni empowerment model based on Empowerment-TQM, which positions alumni as strategic actors within the continuous quality improvement cycle. As a primary practical recommendation, the institution should immediately develop formal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and an integrated alumni data management system to convert alumni potential into a measurable force for quality assurance. This study provides a new theoretical contribution through the conceptual integration of empowerment theory and Islamic education quality management.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji efektivitas penerapan metode pembelajaran Jigsaw sebagai salah satu model cooperative learning dalam meningkatkan keterampilan komunikasi kolaboratif siswa kelas V Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuasi-eksperimen dengan melibatkan dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok eksperimen yang menerapkan metode pembelajaran Jigsaw dan kelompok kontrol yang menggunakan metode pembelajaran konvensional. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa angket dengan skala Likert digunakan untuk mengukur keterampilan komunikasi siswa, yang mencakup kemampuan berinteraksi, bekerja sama, serta menyampaikan pendapat dalam kegiatan pembelajaran kelompok. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test dan uji Kolmogorov-Smirnov Two Independent Samples untuk mengetahui perbedaan peningkatan keterampilan komunikasi antara kedua kelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa pada kelompok eksperimen mengalami peningkatan keterampilan komunikasi kolaboratif yang lebih signifikan dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol, yang ditunjukkan oleh nilai rata-rata post-test kelompok eksperimen sebesar 85,35, lebih tinggi dibandingkan nilai rata-rata kelompok kontrol sebesar 76,50. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa penerapan metode Jigsaw memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap pengembangan keterampilan komunikasi siswa. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis cooperative learning, khususnya metode Jigsaw, efektif dalam meningkatkan keterlibatan aktif siswa serta keterampilan komunikasi kolaboratif dalam proses pembelajaran di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Miftahul Ulum Tunggak Cerme.

Abstract

This study was focused on the speaking assessment used by six English teachers at three Junior High School in Probolinggo. The objectives of this study are to explain; 1) the Implementation of Speaking Assessment based on 2013 Curriculum, 2) the types of speaking assessment from English teachers, and 3) teachers’ perception on speaking assessment based on 2013 curriculum. Type of this research was qualitative. The data were collected from interview, questionnaires, observation, and document analysis. The samples of this study were six English teachers who taught eight grade from three Junior High schools in Probolinggo. The data were classified and analyzed in qualitative way. The result showed that; 1) the English teachers of three Junior High Schools in probolinggo have applied the assessment in speaking, but not all standard was completed, 2) role play performance was used in assessing the students’ speaking skill, 3) teachers’ perception on speaking assessment was very good, and thought that the assessment could be the solution for  their problems in assessing student’s speaking skill.Keywords: assessment, speaking, curriculum 2013, perception.
