Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the various forms of inner conflict experienced by the main character, Kim Ji-yeong, in the novel "Kim Ji-yeong Born in 1982" by Cho Nam-joo. This novel is highly relevant because it depicts the complex experiences of Korean women in facing patriarchal social pressures and expectations. Through the analysis of inner conflict, this study shows that women have complex desires, aspirations, and struggles in life, and they are not passive creatures. The type of research used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. The research data were taken from words or sentences contained in the novel itself. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data collection, data analysis, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study revealed five forms of inner conflict found in the character of Kim Ji-yeong. First, a painful neurotic inner conflict, characterized by perfectionism, self-blame, and pressure from family. Second, inner conflict moves toward others, where Ji-yeong tries to conform to social expectations to avoid conflict. Third, inner conflict moves against others, shown by Ji-yeong's efforts to aggressively fight against her family. Fourth, the inner conflict of moving away from others, which makes Ji-yeong feel isolated, inferior, and lose her identity due to constant pressure. Fifth, the inner conflict of an unrealistic ideal image, where Ji-yeong is expected to be a perfect mother, wife, and worker without adequate support. Overall, this study not only provides an in-depth understanding of the experiences of fictional characters but also provides insights into the social realities faced by many women worldwide, including in Indonesia. Abstract

The era of disruption, marked by the rapid transformation of technology and social change, has significantly impacted the ethical values and spirituality of Muslims, particularly in the context of education and da’wah. In this situation, there emerges an urgent need to re-explore authentic and contextual concepts of Islamic morality (akhlak). This study aims to deeply analyze the thoughts of Shaykh Muhammad Al-Uthaymeen on Islamic ethics and evaluate their relevance in the practice of da’wah and Islamic education in the disruption era. Using a narrative review approach and conceptual paper strategy, this study processes secondary data sourced from Al-Uthaymeen’s works and related academic literature through content and thematic analysis techniques. The findings indicate that the concept of ethics according to Al-Uthaymeen is strongly rooted in tawhid (monotheism) and servitude to Allah, with an emphasis on character building through education and an ethical, communicative, and wise approach to da’wah. His thoughts are proven relevant in addressing challenges of digital ethics and moral degradation in contemporary society. This study contributes conceptually to the development of Islamic ethical studies and encourages the reorientation of education and da’wah strategies that are adaptive to the digital social context. The implications of this research highlight the need for integrating tawhidi-based moral values into educational curricula and the development of digital da’wah guidelines grounded in Islamic ethical principles.

Abstract

The construction of a glass elevator facility in the Kelingking Beach tourist area located in Nusa Penida has sparked various debates, particularly regarding the possible impact on the stability of the cliffs around the area and the sustainability of ecotourism, which has been the main attraction of the area. This study was conducted with the aim of conducting an in-depth analysis of the environmental impacts caused by the construction process. The analysis covers changes in the geomorphological structure of the area, the potential for increased landslides due to physical intervention, and how all these changes could affect the continuity of nature-based tourism, which has supported the local economy and ecosystem. In its implementation, this study uses a qualitative-descriptive approach that relies on the processing and analysis of secondary data, including reports from the mass media, official government documents, and academic studies focusing on karst cliffs and the development of tourism infrastructure in natural areas. Based on the analysis results, it was found that the construction of the glass elevator has the potential to increase the risk of cliff instability, mainly due to foundation excavation activities and pressure changes that affect the limestone structure that makes up the cliff. Furthermore, the elevator procurement project was deemed not fully aligned with the principles of sustainable ecotourism, due to the lack of involvement of the local community in the planning and implementation process, as well as the potential for environmental degradation that could have a negative impact in the long term. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of conducting a thorough and comprehensive evaluation of geological safety aspects, environmental conservation efforts, and effective tourism management so that Kelingking Beach can continue to be maintained as a tourist destination that is not only attractive and popular, but also safe and sustainable for future generations.

Abstract

Rapid advances in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) have resulted in a variety of original works covering various creative fields, such as images, music, design, and scientific content. However, this raises a fundamental question in Indonesia's intellectual property rights (IPR) system, namely who should own the rights to works produced by AI, should the rights belong to the AI machine itself, the developers of the technology, or the users who utilize AI in the creative process? This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the IPR legal framework in Indonesia in terms of protection for AI-based works, while also examining various challenges, both normative and practical, that arise in this context. The research method applied is juridical-normative with an approach that involves a review of applicable laws and regulations, relevant legal concepts, and comparisons with regulations and legal practices in several countries that have already regulated works produced by AI. The results of this study reveal that positive law in Indonesia currently does not explicitly regulate the ownership and protection of intellectual property rights for works produced by AI. This situation has the potential to create a normative vacuum and legal uncertainty that could have various negative implications for innovators and the creative industry. On the other hand, there are various opportunities to update regulations to accommodate developments in digital innovation, including establishing a new concept of authorship, strengthening the moral and economic rights of creators, and developing a protection scheme that is more adaptive to ever-evolving technological advances. Based on these findings, this study recommends the need to establish specific regulations or revise existing IPR laws to ensure legal certainty, provide fair protection for relevant parties, and support the sustainable development of AI technology in Indonesia.

Abstract

Public infrastructure projects in developing regions often face performance issues due to internal capacity gaps and weak management systems. This study emphasizes both the direct and mediating effects of internal factors on project outcomes, with stronger justification for using SEM-PLS and additional comparative methods. Regression-based robustness checks and PLSpredict cross-validation are incorporated to validate the results. The research investigates the mediating role of construction management in linking internal organizational factors to project performance in the Buton Islands, Southeast Sulawesi. Key elements examined include planning quality, supervisory practices, communication effectiveness, and equipment readiness, measured against cost, time, and quality outcomes. A quantitative design using Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) was applied to data from 54 construction professionals in government and private sectors. To address statistical concerns with the small sample size and many indicators, redundant items were eliminated (loading < 0.70), and discriminant validity was tested using HTMT ratios. Findings indicate that internal organizational conditions have a moderate but significant direct effect on project performance, while this influence is substantially strengthened when mediated by effective construction management. Novelty is underscored by situating the analysis in the Buton Islands, a geographically isolated and resource-constrained region rarely studied in international literature, extending systems theory and the Iron Triangle to new environments. The strongest predictive paths involve budgeting systems, scheduling mechanisms, and quality assurance frameworks. Beyond technical dimensions, managerial practices also foster institutional trust and resilience, offering practical guidance for policymakers and practitioners.

Abstract

This article examines the integration of da‘wah and education in the Wahdah Islamiyah Movement from the perspective of contemporary Islamic da‘wah, positioning da‘wah as an educational and social transformation process. The study aims to analyze the forms, mechanisms, and implications of integrating da‘wah and education in shaping Muslim character and strengthening socio-religious engagement. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis of educational systems, da‘wah programs, and cadre development practices within Wahdah Islamiyah. The findings reveal that Wahdah Islamiyah implements a systematic, structured, and sustainable integration of da‘wah and education based on Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama‘ah theology, tiered tarbiyah models, comprehensive da‘i cadre formation, the use of digital da‘wah media, and da‘wah bil-hal through educational and social empowerment programs. The da‘i cadre system serves as the central nexus between da‘wah and education, functioning not merely to produce preachers but also educators and agents of social change characterized by the 5M values (Mu’min, Muslih, Mujahid, Muta‘awin, and Mutqin). This study contributes to contemporary Islamic da‘wah scholarship by offering an integrative da‘wah-educational model that is adaptive, participatory, and contextually responsive to modern societal challenges.

Abstract

This study developed a water level prediction model using the integration of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM). ANN maps nonlinear relationships between hydrological parameters, while LSTM captures temporal dependence patterns in time series data. The comparison results of four models—Linear Regression, ANN, LSTM, and ANN–LSTM hybrid—showed that the neural network-based model provided significantly better prediction performance than the linear model. The Linear Regression model produced the largest error (MSE 0.0175; RMSE 0.128; MAE 0.103; R² 0.785), followed by ANN with a significant increase in accuracy (MSE 0.0114; RMSE 0.101; MAE 0.0549; R² 0.874). LSTM provided better results (MSE 0.0048; RMSE 0.067; MAE 0.0472; R² 0.902), but the best model was the hybrid ANN–LSTM with the lowest error value (MSE 0.00417; RMSE 0.063; MAE 0.0388) and the highest R² (0.937). This combination is able to capture nonlinear patterns and temporal dynamics more optimally, resulting in stable and accurate predictions. In addition, this study shows that the Duflow hydrodynamic model has the potential to be developed as a mitigation simulation tool for water level management, such as testing extreme rainfall scenarios, spatial changes, flood control infrastructure operations, channel optimization, and simulating the impacts of climate change.
