Abstract

Islamophobia, a growing concern worldwide, has been increasingly shaped by the spread of misinformation and negative stereotypes through social media platforms. In Indonesia, where Islam is the predominant religion, the rise of Islamophobic discourse on social media has created significant challenges for the Muslim community and interfaith relations. This study explores the role of social media in shaping public opinion about Islamophobia in Indonesia. The research investigates how social media platforms, particularly Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, contribute to the formation and dissemination of Islamophobic narratives, and how these narratives influence public perceptions of Islam and Muslims. A mixed-methods approach was used, combining content analysis of social media posts with surveys of Indonesian internet users to assess their awareness of Islamophobic content and its effects. The findings reveal that social media platforms play a critical role in amplifying Islamophobic discourse, often without sufficient counter-narratives or fact-checking. The study concludes that social media has a dual role, both as a platform for disseminating negative stereotypes and as a potential space for countering Islamophobia through education and positive engagement.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of passenger embarkation and disembarkation procedures on KM. Tidar, focusing on three main aspects. First, assessing the implementation of ship safety equipment maintenance and equipment in the context of fulfilling regulatory and company requirements, and its impact on operational efficiency. Second, analyzing the implementation of inspections, reporting of non-conformities, corrective actions, and recording activities, and their impact on passenger safety and ship readiness for inspections and compliance audits to international standards. Third, evaluating the suitability of the procedures regulated in the Safety Management System (SMK) of KM. Tidar to identify, evaluate, and manage operational changes, and their impact on emergency response and adaptability to international maritime regulations. This type of research is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through direct observation, interviews, and document analysis. The subject of the study is the passenger embarkation and disembarkation process, while the object is the implementation of Element 10 of the ISM Code related to passenger safety, operational efficiency, and compliance with international standards. The study was conducted on KM. Tidar Makassar during April-May 2024 using a non-probability sampling method to determine respondents from the relevant ship's crew. The results of the study showed that the care and maintenance of safety equipment, such as ladders, embarkation bridges, and communication devices, have improved operational efficiency and passenger safety. The process of inspection, reporting, and corrective actions are carried out systematically, supporting the ship's readiness for inspection and audit. In addition, the compliance of the Safety Management System (SMK) procedures in managing operational changes helps improve response to emergency situations and adaptability to international maritime regulations. Major obstacles such as bad weather and port congestion can be minimized through good coordination between the ship's crew and the port authority. Regular training for the crew on safety equipment is an important element in maintaining high safety standards.

Abstract

The advent of social media has transformed the way adolescents communicate and interact with one another. While social media provides a platform for social connection, its influence on the quality of interpersonal relationships, particularly among adolescents, remains a critical area of study. In Indonesia, where social media usage among adolescents is high, understanding its impact on relationships is crucial for promoting healthy social interactions. This study investigates the influence of social media on the quality of interpersonal relationships in adolescents in Indonesia. The research utilizes a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with 300 adolescents aged 12-18 years. The survey measured the frequency of social media use and the perceived quality of relationships with family, friends, and peers. The qualitative interviews provided deeper insights into adolescents’ experiences with social media and its role in shaping their social interactions. The results indicate that excessive social media use is associated with lower quality in face-to-face interactions, leading to weaker emotional bonds with family and friends. However, moderate use of social media was linked to enhanced peer connections and better communication skills. The study concludes that social media can both positively and negatively affect interpersonal relationships, and suggests that balanced usage should be encouraged to foster healthier social dynamics.

Abstract

This study explores the influence of digitalization on family communication by analyzing literature that discusses family interactions in the digital age. The findings show that digital technology facilitates communication across distances and time, enabling family members to stay connected despite being physically distant and increasing parents' involvement in their children's lives. However, the findings also reveal the negative impacts of over-reliance on digital devices, including a decline in the quality of face-to-face interactions and potential risks such as exposure to inappropriate content and cyberbullying. In conclusion, although digitalization offers various benefits for family communication, the wise management of technology use is necessary to balance the benefits of digital communication with maintaining interpersonal closeness and strong emotional relationships.

Abstract

This article describes and analyzes the solidarity and competition among Gojek drivers in Yogyakarta. For data collection, it was carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The result shows that PT. Gojek Indonesia created groups based on their criteria. The groups formed by PT. Gojek were included in the office Whatsapp group. Arena, capital, and habitus are important elements to reveal that there is the classification of Gojek drivers' accounts based on priority, regular, and 'gagu'. In the Bourdieu paradigm, the cultural capital owned by Gojek drivers plays an important role in benefiting them in the arena, such as time discipline to find customers, driver performance, drivers who always accept incoming orders and never reject orders, customer rating, or good customer ratings, customer-friendly drivers, and smartphone proficiency that will give advantage in the competition. Thus, the result of mapping the arena of competition among Gojek drivers in Yogyakarta shows that drivers indirectly have to have some strategies in the 'game' of competition among Gojek drivers across several social arenas, namely economy, culture, and social.

Abstract

The study purpose was to analyze how liquidity (Quick Ratio) and profitability (Return on Assets, Return on Equity, and Net Profit Margin) affect the capital structure of consumer goods companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from 2021 to 2023 and to provide empirical evidence regarding the applicability of capital structure theories, particularly the Pecking Order Theory, in the Indonesian consumer goods industry. This research employed a quantitative approach using secondary data from annual reports of consumer goods companies published on the IDX website. Out of a population of 57 firms, a purposive sampling method selected 10 companies operating in the food and beverage, cigarette, and pharmaceutical sub-sectors, based on the completeness and consistency of their financial statements. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression, supported by classical assumption tests including normality, multicollinearity, autocorrelation, and heteroscedasticity to ensure the model's robustness. The data indicates that liquidity (Quick Ratio) and profitability (Return on Assets) have a negative and significant impact on capital structure, while Return on Equity shows a positive and significant effect. Net Profit Margin, however, does not significantly influence capital structure. Overall, liquidity and profitability account for 54.6% of the variation in capital structure, with the remaining influenced by other factors beyond the scope of this study. The findings highlight the importance of liquidity and profitability in guiding corporate financing decisions. They support the Pecking Order Theory and emphasize the need for firms to adopt a balanced financing approach that leverages both internal resources and external debt to promote financial stability and sustainable growth.

Abstract

Sexting as a form of digital sexual self-disclosure has become increasingly common among young people in Indonesia. The Hyperpersonal Communication Model (HCM) theory was originally developed to explain text-based online interaction, while contemporary digital intimacy now involves multimodal communication, risk awareness, privacy concerns, and trust negotiation. This study aims to develop a contextual HCM model by integrating digital sexual self-disclosure, perceived digital intimacy, selective self-presentation, idealized perception, and risk awareness in explaining sexting behavior in Indonesia. This research used a mixed-methods, sequential, explanatory design. The quantitative phase involved a survey of 300 respondents aged 18–35 years in five major Indonesian cities and was analyzed using SPSS Version 27. The qualitative phase involved in-depth interviews with 20 selected participants to explore the subjective meanings of sexting experiences. The findings show that Digital Sexual Self-Disclosure is the strongest predictor of Perceived Digital Intimacy (β=0.412), while 68.7% of respondents reported having engaged in sexting. Risk Awareness was also positively correlated with Perceived Digital Intimacy (r=0.387), suggesting that risk awareness may encourage explicit boundary negotiation and trust-building rather than reduce intimacy. Qualitative findings reveal a gradual escalation pattern from text to photo and video, with each stage shaped by trust tests and privacy considerations. This study expands HCM theory by proposing trust negotiation as a fifth mechanism alongside Walther’s four classical mechanisms, emphasizing trust-based gradual disclosure shaped by Indonesian socio-cultural norms. Practically, the findings highlight the need for digital literacy programs that address consent, boundary negotiation, privacy protection, and safer intimate communication among young adults.
