Abstract

This study aims to analyze and implement the Just In Time (JIT) method to reduce production lead time and improve production efficiency in the Headrest IMV production line at PT Toyota Boshoku Indonesia. The research employs an applied research approach using Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to identify inefficiencies and design process improvements. Data were collected through direct observation, interviews, documentation, and time studies to evaluate the current production condition and measure performance improvements after JIT implementation. The results indicate that the initial production system, which operated under a push-based approach, experienced significant inefficiencies, including high waiting time, excessive Work In Process (WIP), and unbalanced workflow. After implementing JIT, production time per unit decreased from 13.2 minutes to 9.5 minutes, representing a 28% improvement. In addition, WIP levels were significantly reduced, and the production system transitioned into a pull-based system supported by Kanban. Layout redesign and work standardization further enhanced material flow and process stability. The implementation results also demonstrated improvements in key performance indicators, including reduced production lead time, shorter cycle time, lower WIP levels, and increased overall production efficiency. In conclusion, the implementation of JIT integrated with VSM effectively reduces production lead time, minimizes waste, and improves overall production efficiency. This study provides practical and empirical insights into the application of Lean Manufacturing principles in real industrial settings.

Abstract

Pengelolaan stok bahan baku termasuk hal yang krusial dalam memastikan kelancaran proses produksi dan optimalisasi biaya pada industri manufaktur. Permasalahan yang dialami oleh PT XYZ yaitu masih kurang efektif pada pengelolaan stok bahan baku RBD stearine, yang ditandai dengan frekuensi pemesanan yang tinggi serta potensi kekurangan bahan baku yang dapat mengganggu aktivitas produksi. Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mengkaji implementasi metode Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) dalam menetapkan kuantitas pembelian yang paling efisien, serta menghitung persediaan pengaman, titik pemesanan kembali, serta minimum dan maksimum stok. Pendekatan kuantitatif dengan analisis deskriptif digunakan sebagai metode dalam penelitian ini, lalu selain itu juga menggunakan data historis perusahaan yang diolah dengan metode EOQ. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, diperoleh bahwa kuantitas pembelian yang efisien sebesar 1.529.706 kg dengan tingkat pembelian bahan baku selama satu tahun sebanyak 23 kali, lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan ketentuan perusahaan sebelumnya. Selain itu, diperoleh nilai safety stock sebanyak 8.592.695 kg, titik pemesanan kembali (ROP) ketika mencapai nilai 9.321.568 kg, total inventory cost sebesar Rp 6.941.807, serta maksimum stok sebanyak 10.122.401 kg. Penggunaan metode EOQ juga dapat meminimalkan total inventory cost sehingga pengelolaan menjadi lebih efektif dan efisien. Metode EOQ mampu mendukung upaya perusahaan dalam mengoptimalkan pengendalian stok bahan baku. Oleh karena itu, perusahaan dianjurkan untuk mengimplementasikan metode EOQ secara berkelanjutan atau konsisten, serta melakukan evaluasi berkala guna meningkatkan akurasi perencanaan kebutuhan bahan baku.
