Abstract

The potential of biomass energy in Indonesia that can be used as an energy source is 146.7 tons per year. One of the renewable energy and its abundance is biomass, namely by making briquettes using a biomass stove. the purpose of this study is to determine the effect of coconut shell and corn stalk briquette speed on biomass stove performance. This test uses of variety of briquette felts, namely 1, 3, and 5 kg. The results showed that the density at pressures of 1, 3, and 5 kg produced densities of 0.843 g/cm3, 0.905 g/cm3, and 1.032 g/cm3. The difference in density affects the performance of the best felt pressure biomass stove at a pressure of 5 kg.

Abstract

Kecenderungan untuk mengembangkan dan memanfaatkan potensi sumber-sumber daya energi terbarukan dewasa ini telah meningkat pesat, khususnya di negara-negara berkembang yang telah menguasai rekayasa dan teknologinya serta memiliki dukungan finansial yang kuat. Oleh sebab itu, merupakan hal yang menarik untuk dikaji lebih lanjut bagaimana memanfaatkan peluang sumber daya energi terbarukan. Energi alternatif sebenarnya banyak dijumpai disekitar kita. Salah satunya adalah alat fitnes TL008. Alat fitnes ini tanpa disadari dapat menghasilkan energi kinetik. Pada dasarnya energi itu tidak dapat dimusnahkan, tetapi energi dapat berubah bentuk menjadi energi lain. Sehingga energi kinetik yang dihasilkan Alat fitnes TL008 dapat diubah menjadi energi mekanik berupa gaya tarikan yang dapat memutar generator sehingga menghasilkan energi listrik. Tujuan peneletian ini dilakukan adalah untuk mengetahui Kecepatan roda gigi, daya listrik, daya mekanik, dan efisiensi yang di hasilkan pada setiap penarikan alat fitness TL008. Dengan menggunakan metode Variasi beban dan kita ingin melihat daya yang di hasilkan pada setiap beban tersebut. Variasi yang di gunakan adalah 5kg, 10kg, 15kg, 20kg, dan 25kg. dan di sini kita mendapatkan variasi terbaik yang di hasilkan pada beban 1 kg dengan hasil v : 4,48 m/s, Pout : 1,8 watt, Pin : 0,469 watt,dan Efisiensi : 38,3 % dan untuk variasi terendah di hasilkan pada beban 25 kg dengan nilai v : 4,0 m/s, Pout : 0,57 watt, Pin : 0,41 watt, dan Efisiensi : 13,9%.

Abstract

This study addresses the urgent issue of global water scarcity, particularly in arid regions with limited access to conventional water sources. The performance of a water harvester equipped with single-sided thermoelectric cooling technology is evaluated to enhance water collection efficiency from the atmosphere. The primary objective of this research is to optimize the machine's performance by varying fan speeds and analyzing its impact on collected water volume. The methodology involves experiments conducted at three different fan speeds: 1000 RPM, 1500 RPM, and 2000 RPM, with each speed tested for three hours and data collected every 30 minutes. The observed variables include collected water volume, air temperature, and humidity. Results indicate that water collection efficiency increases with higher fan speeds, with 2000 RPM yielding the highest volume. However, efficiency declines after 90 minutes, mainly influenced by fluctuating external factors such as temperature and humidity. Additionally, increased fan speeds may result in higher energy consumption, which is a consideration for developing more energy-efficient machines. The study recommends further development to integrate automatic control systems capable of adjusting fan speeds based on environmental changes in temperature and humidity. The conclusion of this research is that thermoelectric cooling technology has significant potential for water harvesting, yet sustainable innovations are necessary for adaptation across diverse environmental conditions.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine how heat treatment with water cooling media affect the mechanical properties of AISI 1045 Steel. The analysis was carried out by comparing AISI 1045 Steel without heat-treatment and AISI 1045 Steel with heat-treatment at 8000C and 8500C. The results showed that the hardness of AISI 1045 steel increased to 47.95 HRC at 8000C and 53.5 HRC at 8500C, increased from 41.23 HRC for AISI 1045 steel without heat-treatment. Likewise, heat-treatment also increased the strength of AISI 1045 carbon steel from 624.28 MPa to 741.72 MPa at 8000C and 998.61 MPa at 8500C. In addition, the fatigue test also showed an increase in the ductility of AISI 1045 Steel which was subjected to heat-treatment. This can be seen as the number of cycles that occur in the heat-treated material which was higher than that of non-heat-treated material.

Abstract

Ketahanan pangan merupakan isu strategis yang berhubungan langsung dengan kesejahteraan masyarakat, khususnya di daerah pedesaan yang rentan terhadap krisis pangan. Salah satu upaya untuk mendukung ketahanan pangan adalah memanfaatkan potensi sumber daya lokal seperti ubi kayu yang mudah ditanam sepanjang tahun. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) di Kecamatan Kulim, Pekanbaru, Riau, melalui pelatihan produksi tepung ubi kayu termodifikasi atau mocaf (modified cassava flour). Pelatihan melibatkan lima KWT dan dua kelompok PKK dengan total 50 peserta perempuan. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi identifikasi kebutuhan pelatihan, penyuluhan tentang manfaat dan proses produksi mocaf, praktik langsung pengolahan ubi kayu menjadi tepung mocaf, serta evaluasi melalui pre-test dan post-test untuk mengukur peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman peserta dari 53,7% sebelum pelatihan menjadi 81,25% setelah pelatihan, disertai antusiasme tinggi dalam praktik produksi. Kegiatan ini tidak hanya meningkatkan keterampilan teknis, tetapi juga berpotensi memperkuat ketahanan pangan rumah tangga dan memberdayakan perempuan sebagai agen perubahan dalam pengembangan pangan lokal yang berkelanjutan di tingkat masyarakat.

Abstract

The cooling system of an engine utilizes a radiator to regulate the temperature of the coolant, whice absorbs heat from engine to maintain its optimal operating temperature. The aim of the research is to evaluate the effectiveness of radiator using defferent types of water coolants, including gallon water. The study involves using a Toyota Kijang 4K series engine mounted on an engine stand. Data collection includes conducting four rotational variations for each coolant, incluidng galon water. The collected data includes parameters such as inlet and outlet temperature of the coolant, air temperature in front of and behind the radioator, wind speed measurements in those areas, and observation of the coolant flow rate. The findings reveal that coolant C demonstrates the highest average effevctiveness among the different coolant, with a value of 25,28%. Coolant B shows an average effectiveness of 21,98%, while coolant A has an average effectiveness of 21,30%. Galon water exhibts the lowest average effevtiveness, with a value of 18.33%. the radiator’s effectiveness is directly related to the rate of heat transfer, meaning that a higher heat transfer rate corresponds to a higher radiator effectiveness. Thus, based on this study, it can be concluded that coolant C is the most effective coolant in terms of radiator efectiveness and heat transfer.
