Abstract

Psychology has provided a significant effect in describing human behavior in the modern era. However, despite the extensive development of theories in modern psychology, this field of science still needs to improve in terms of terminology, epistemology, and worldview. One of the Muslim psychologists who criticized this problem was Utsman Najati. This research was library research, and the data sources consisted of primary data sources from Utsman Najati's works related to Psychology, and secondary data sources, namely in the form of books, which were relevant to this research to strengthen arguments and to complement data from research results. The data analysis technique used by the authors in this study was content analysis. The findings obtained from this paper were as follows: First, Utsman Najati revealed the disparity between the terms of psychology and research objects which were limited to behavior; Second, Utsman Najati uncovered the problem of the epistemology of psychology, which limited itself to empirical things; Third, a materialistic and atheist perspective in several schools of modern psychology contradicted the Islamic view of life.

Abstract

Abstract

Islamic syaria diskursus hubungan agama dan negara tetap hangat diperbincangkan dari waktu ke waktu. Mencuatnya ragam intrik atas Islam sebagi model ideal politik menimbulkan pro-kontra. Ini dibuktikan dengan wujudnya golongan yang merasa keberatan jika Islam dianggap tidak mengatur politik. Yang lebih mencengangkan lagi umat muslim yang sudah memiliki worldview Islam pandangan hidup yang benar identifikasi sistim politik Islam hanya dapat dilakukan dengan merujuk kepada Islamic Worldview yang dipancarkan oleh al-Quran dan diperjelas oleh Nabi serta dipraktekanya. Semua itu diperkaya dengan praktek pada sahabat dan wacana para ulama sesudahnya. Jika sistem politik Islam telah ditemukan identitasnya maka lngkah selanjutnya adalah melaukan pengembangan secara konseptual.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas pendampingan program asrama di Universitas Darussalam Gontor sebagai bagian dari Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) tahun 2024. UNIDA Gontor, sebagai universitas pesantren, mengintegrasikan sistem kepesantrenan dalam pendidikan formal, menjadikan asrama sebagai elemen penting. Pendampingan ini bertujuan membantu principal dalam mengelola program asrama secara efektif. Metode yang digunakan adalah Participatory Action Research (PAR), yang mencakup identifikasi, perencanaan, pelaksanaan, evaluasi, dan tindak lanjut. Hasilnya, tersusun 21 program asrama yang mendukung aspek tempat tinggal, interaksi sosial, dan pendidikan mahasiswa. Evaluasi menunjukkan program berjalan dengan baik, meskipun masih ditemukan kendala dalam konseling mahasiswa. Sebagai tindak lanjut, pendampingan akan diperpanjang dan diperluas ke aspek konseling dan teknologi informasi.

Abstract

This article began with the question of whether Indonesian democracy is based on religious values (Islam) or whether it purely adopts Western values. This was because debates regarding this question continue to be echoed in the history of the Indonesian nation’s journey. As a result, there were groups that accepted and fought secular Western democracy to be implemented in Indonesia, there were also those who rejected it blindly, and there were those who thought democracy was not all against Islam, but it did not fully represent Islamic politics absolutely. This article examines the technical and philosophical characteristics of Indonesian democracies. This article is qualitative used library research for data collection from books, journal articles, and documents related to the Indonesian democracy. The collected data were then processed using descriptive analysis methods. This study found that Indonesia adopts a unique democratic system in which Islamic values are embedded and in harmony with it.

Abstract

This study examines the theological perspectives on Divine Attributes among the Ashʿarī, Māturīdī, and Muʿtazilite schools, highlighting their doctrinal differences and methodological approaches. While the Ashʿarīs affirm Divine Attributes as neither identical to nor separate from God’s essence, the Māturīdīs emphasize rational-textual balance, rejecting anthropomorphism without negating attributes. In contrast, the Muʿtazilites deny eternal attributes, arguing they compromise God’s unity (tawḥīd), and interpret scriptural anthropomorphisms metaphorically. Employing a critical-analytical method, this research reveals how these schools navigate the tension between divine transcendence and scriptural literalism. The findings underscore the Ashʿarī-Māturīdī alignment against Muʿtazilite rationalism, while noting subtle divergences between them. The study contributes to broader Islamic theological discourse by clarifying these schools’ positions on Divine Attributes.

Abstract

AbstrakTulisan ini bertujuan untuk melihat eksistensi Filsafat Islam dalam pandangan seorang orientalis, Richard Rudolf Walzer. Ia mengemukakan bahwa terlalu dini untuk mengakui keberadaan Filsafat Islam. Banyak fakta dan karya yang masih belum diketahui. Selain itu, ia juga mengatakan bahwa tidak ada kesepakan di antara para sarjana tentang pendekatan terbaik dalam memahami filsafat Islam. Kajian bagaimana melihat framework Walzer terhadap Filsafat Islam ini dilakukan dengan metode pustaka, dengan menganalisis karyanya yaitu, Greek Into Arabic; Essay On Islamic Philosophy. Hasil dari kajian ini yaitu bahwa Walzer memandang Filsafat Islam secara Historis Filologis, dan bukan secara analisis-definitif. Asumsinya, Filsafat Islam hanyalah kelanjutan Yunani yang tidak ada kebaruannya. Karenanya, pendekatan memahami Filsafat Islam menurut Walzer mesti dengan menelusuri sumber-sumber Yunani, Kristen dan Yahudi. Namun hal itu tidak sejalan dengan pandangan Oliver Leaman dan Abdul Raziq bahwa Filsafat Islam, meski menerima Ide-ide Yunani, namun telah diasimilasi dan berwajah Islam.

Abstract

Diskursus pemahaman keagamaan masyarakat Indonesia masa kini menjadi perhatian sebagian tokoh dan cendekiawan belahan dunia. Pemahaman dan perbuatan yang dilakukan oleh sebagian umat Muslim tidak mencerminkan universalitas dan “rahmatan” ajaran Islam. Ada sebagian kaum muslimin yang sangat tekstualis dalam memahami dan mengamalkan Islam, ada pula yang liberal sekuler dalam pemahaman dan pengamalan ajaran Islam. Oleh karena itu dalam menghadapi problem tersebut. Peneliti ingin mengurainya berdasarkan tipologi epistimologi Abid al-Jabiri yaitu epistimologi bayani, burhani dan irfani. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif-analisis. Ketiga tipologi epistimologi tersebut dapat dijadikan sebagai metode dan dasar dalam menjaga kemurnian ajaran Islam dan menjaga nilai Rahmatan dan Univeralitasnya. Penggunaan tipologi epistimologi Abid al-Jabiri dalam memahami dan mengamalkan Islam juga dapat menjadikan umat Islam sebagai umat yang berpegang teguh terhadap nushus (teks), antusias mencari kemaslahatan segala realitas, dan responsif terhadap segala tantangan/perubahan zaman. AbstractDiscourse of religious understanding in Indonesia today is a concern of some Indonesian figures and scholars and a wide part of the world. The understanding and deeds of some Muslims do not reflect the universality and "rahmatan" of Islamic teachings. There are some Muslims who are very textual and radical in understanding and practicing Islam, some are secular liberals in understanding and practicing the teachings of Islam. Therefore, in the face of this problem. Researchers wanted to parse it based on abid al-Jabiri's epistimology, namely epistimology bayani, burhani and irfani. This study uses the descriptive-analysis method. The three Epistimological Typologies can be used as a method and basis in maintaining the purity of Islamic teachings and maintaining the value of Rahmatan and its Univerality.The use of Abid al-Jabiri epistimology typology in understanding and practicing Islam can also make Muslims as a ummah who hold on to nusush (text), enthusiastically seek the benefit of all reality and responsive to all challenges/changes of the times.

Abstract

This study investigates the semantic implications of the term basyar as it pertains to the concept of humanity in the Qur’anic discourse. The research arises from the observation that the Qur’an employs a range of lexical choices to denote human beings, including nās, al-insān, basyar, banī ādam, al-insu, and al-marʾu, each carrying distinct contextual and conceptual connotations. The diversity of these terms reflects the Qur’an’s nuanced portrayal of human nature across different dimensions and circumstances. Focusing specifically on basyar, this study aims to delineate the unique aspects embedded within this term and how it informs the Islamic understanding of human identity. Methodologically, this is a qualitative literature-based study employing documentary analysis of primary sources such as the Qur’an and classical tafsīr works, including Tafsīr al-Qur’ān al-‘Aẓīm by Ibn Kathīr, Tafsīr al-Marāghī by Ahmad bin Musthafa al-Marāghī, Mafātīḥ al-Ghayb by Fakhruddīn al-Rāzī, and Rūḥ al-Maʿānī by Shihābuddīn al-Ālūsī, among others. The findings suggest that while the concept of basyar aligns closely with the general notion of humanity, it conveys an elevated understanding marked by specific virtues. The study identifies five defining characteristics of human beings within the basyar framework: (1) prophethood as a human function, (2) creation from earthly elements, (3) the cognitive and existential dimension of basyariah, (4) the social interaction between genders, and (5) the inevitability of death as part of divine ordinance.
