Abstract

This study aimed at analyzing the implementation of classroom interaction characteristics in writing at SMAN 2 Singaraja viewed from information sources and the description of constrains were found in implementing multi-way interaction in writing at SMAN 2 Singaraja viewed from information sources. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui minat membaca dan kompetensi membaca pada deskriptif teks serta hubungan antara dua variable yang dilakukan di SMP N 1 Kubutambahan. Terdapat dua kelas yang terlibat sebagai subjek penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas VII C dan VII F. Penelitian ini dirancang dalam metodologi kuantitatif korelasional dengan menggunakan dua instrumen untuk mengukur minat membaca dan kompetensi membaca siswa pada teks bahasa inggris. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data tersebut terdiri dari angket minat membaca dan tes kompetensi membaca pada teks deskriptif. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan langkah-langkah deskriptif dan koefisien korelasi pearson?s product moment. Temuan penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa minat membaca dan kompetensi membaca siswa masing-masing dikategorikan baik dan tinggi. Temuan penelitian menyiratkan pentingnya mengembangkan minat membaca sebagai kegiatan belahjar sehari-hari dirumah dan disekolah, hal ini akan meningkatkan kompetensi membaca pada waktunya. Kata Kunci : Minat Membaca, Kompetensi Membaca, dan Koefisien Korelasi. The current research objectives were focused on the students? reading interest and reading competency on descriptive profiles as well as the relationships between the two variables in SMPN 1 Kubutambahan, while the sample of this study was the students of class VII C and VII F. This research was designed in a correlation quantitative methodology. Two instruments were administered to measure the students? reading interest and their reading competency on the written English texts. The two instruments consisted of reading interest questionnaire and reading competency test. Data were gathered using these two instruments. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive measures and Pearson?s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. The research findings disclose that the students? reading interest and reading competency are categorized as good and high respectively. The research findings imply the importance of developing reading interest as a day-to-day learning activities at home and/or at school, which will enhance reading competency in due times.keyword : Reading Interest, Reading Competency, and Correlation Coefficient

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis kelemahan yang dibuat oleh siswa-siswi kelas sebelas pada penulisan teks report, teks narrative, dan teks analytical exposition dan (2) untuk mencari tahu kendala-kendala kelemahan siswa pada penulisan teks report, teks narrative, dan teks analytical exposition. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 34 siswa siswi kelas XI IPA 1 di SMA Negeri 2 Banjar. Model penelitian yang digunakan adalah descriptive qualitative. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan memberikan siswa tugas untuk menulis teks report, teks narrative, dan teks analytical exposition. Sedangkan kendala-kendala yang dialami siswa diperoleh melalui kuesioner. Kelemahan yang dianalisis meliputi tujuh indikator dalam menulis, yakni judul, kalimat utama, pengembangan kalimat, hubungan antar kalimat, gaya penulisan, tata bahasa dan tanda baca. Sedangkan kendala-kendala kelemahan siswa dalam menulis dibedakan menjadi tiga berdasarkan theory Zinsser (2013), kelemahan tersebut meliputi, pengetahuan yang kurang, latihan yang kurang, dan faktor ingatan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan semua kesalahan-kesalahan siswa muncul pada tiga teks yang berbeda. Hasil kuesioner menunjukkan kendala-kendala siswa dalam menulis yakni pengetahuan yang kurang, latihan yang kurang, dan faktor ingatan.Kata Kunci : kelemahan-kelemahan dalam menulis, kendala-kendala kelamahan dalam menulis, menulis This study aimed at (1) describing students writing deficiency at the eleventh grade students in report text, narrative text, and analytical exposition text and (2) discovering the constraints of writing deficiency in report text, narrative text, and analytical exposition text. The research design was descriptive qualitatively. The subjects were 34 students of XI IPA1 class in SMA Negeri 2 Banjar. The data was collected through writing task in form of report text, narrative text, and analytical exposition text. Meanwhile the constraints of writing deficiency were collected through questionnaire. The writing deficiency analyzed including title, topic sentence, developing sentence, coherence, diction, grammar, and mechanics. The constraints of writing deficiency were differentiated based on Zinsser theory (2013), the constraints was including absence of knowledge, less practice, and forgetting. The result of the research found that all of the deficiencies occurred in three different kinds of text. The result of the questionnaire showed that the constraints of student’s writing deficiency were absence of knowledge, less practice, and forgetting.keyword : constraints of writing deficiency, writing, writing deficiency

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kebiasaan membaca dan kompetensi membaca pada deskriptif teks serta hubungan antara dua variable. Penelitian ini dirancang dalam metode kuantitatif korelasil. Populasi penelitian siswa kelas VII di SMPN 5 Singaraja yang berjumlah 352 siswa sedangkan sample penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas VII F dan VII K yang berjumlah 64 siswa. Sample penelitian ini menggunakan purposive random sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua instrument yaitu angket kebiasaan membaca dan tes kompetensi membaca. Angket kebiasaan membaca digunakan untuk memperoleh data kebiasaan membaca siswa dan tes kompetensi membaca digunakan untuk memperoleh data kompetensi siswa. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan langkah- langkah deskriptif dan koefisien korelasi Pearson’s Product Moment. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah ada hubungan yang positif antara kebiasaan membaca siswa dan komptensi membaca. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kegiatan pembelajaran di pengajaran Bahasa Inggris pada Kurikulum 2013. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah kegiatan pembelajaran di kelas Bahasa Inggris pada siswa kelas 8. Analisis isi digunakan untuk mengevaluasi kesesuaian dari kegiatan pembelajaran di RPP dengan kegiatan pembelajaran di pedoman guru. Observasi diadakan untuk mengevaluasi kesesuaian antara kegiatan pembelajaran dengan implementasi dikelas. Interview juga diadakan untuk mendapatkan data yang lebih mendalam mengenai penelitian. Hasil dari penelitian ini, pada RPP guru 1, hanya satu kegiatan pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan pedoman guru sedangkan pada RPP guru 2, terdapat 4 kegiatan pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan pedoman guru. Kenyataannya, hasil interview membuktikan bahwa guru tidak menggunakan pedoman guru sebagai acuan dalam membuat RPP, jadi kegiatan pembelajaran yang sesuai hanya suatu kebetulan. Pada implementasi dikelas, tidak ada kegiatan pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan RPP yang telah dibuat guru. Jadi, guru tidak menggunakan pedoman dalam menentukan kegiatan pembelajaran di RPP dan mereka tidak mengimplementasikan dikelas.Kata Kunci : Kurikulum 2013, Kegiatan Pembelajaran, RPP, dan Pedoman Guru This study aimed at analyzing the learning activities in teaching English based on the Curriculum 2013. The subject of this study was the learning activities in English class at the Eight Grade students. Content analysis was used in evaluating the consistency of the learning activities in the lesson plan with the learning activities in the teacher?s guideline. Observation was conducted to evaluate the consistency of the learning activities in the lesson plan with the learning activities in the classroom implementation. Interview was also conducted in order to get deeper data regarding with the research. As the result, in the lesson plan of the Teacher 1, there is only one learning activity consistent with the teacher?s guideline while in the lesson plan of the Teacher 2, there are four activities consistent with the teacher?s guideline. In fact, the result of the interview proved that the teacher didn?t use the teacher?s guideline in making lesson plan, therefore the consistent learning activities are only incidental. In the classroom implementation, there are no planned learning activities implemented by the teacher. Therefore, the teachers do not use the teacher?s guideline in determining learning activities in the lesson plan and they do not also implement the planned learning activities in the classroom.keyword : Curriculum 2013, Learning Activities, Lesson Plan, and Teacher?s Guideline

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis: 1) tindak tutur ekspresif yang digunakan oleh siswa kelas VIII SMPN 4 Singaraja kepada teman laki-laki/perempuan dan kepada guru dalam hal struktur sintaksis dan pilihan kata, 2) gaya bahasa yang digunakan oleh siswa kelas VIII SMPN 4 Singaraja dalam hal strategi kesopanan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII A2 dan VIII B3, yang terdiri dari 34 siswa perempuan dan 36 siswa laki-laki. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan teknik elisitasi. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ditunjukkan dalam urutan berikut ini: 1) tindak tutur ekspresif yang digunakan adalah a) meminta maaf, b) menyapa, c) memberi ucapan selamat, d) Berterimakasih, e) memuji, f) menyesal, 2) gaya bertutur yang digunakan yaitu a) kesopanan positif, b) tindak tutur langsungKata Kunci : kesopanan, pilihan kata, struktur sintaksis, tindak tutur ekspresif This research analyzed: 1) the expressive acts as they were used by the eighth grade students of SMPN 4 Singaraja among male-female friends and teacher in terms of syntactical structure and lexical choice, 2) the speech style applied by the eighth grade students of SMPN 4 Singaraja in terms of politeness strategy. The research design was qualitative. The subjects were the eighth grade students of A2 class and B3 class, consisting of 34 female and 36 male students. The data were collected through an elicitation technique. The obtained data were analyzed descriptively. The results were showed in the following order: 1) the expressive acts used are a) apologizing, b) greeting, c) congratulating, d) thanking, e) praising, f) regretting; 2) the speech style applied namely a) positive politeness, b) bald on record.keyword : Expressive acts, lexical choice, politeness, syntactical structure

Abstract

This study aimed at : a) investigating the significant effect in writing competency the between students who were treated by using scientific approach combined with CIRC technique and those who were treated by using scientific approach combined with conventional strategy viewed from text types, b) students who were treated by using scientific approach combined with CIRC technique and those who were treated by using scientific approach combined with conventional strategy across descriptive paragraph, c) students who were treated by using scientific approach combined with CIRC technique and those who were treated by using scientific approach combined with conventional strategy across narrative paragraph. This study was an experimental study recruiting 353 students as the sample of the research. Post-test only control group design was applied as the research design. Post test was administered to discover the impact of the treatment. The data obtained from the post test were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistic analysis. Through the descriptive analysis, it was found that the mean score of the group were who were taught by using scientific approach combined with CIRC technique was higher than those who were taught by using scientific approach combined with conventional strategy viewed from text types. It means that the students who were treated by using scientific approach combined with CIRC technique is better than those who were treated by using scientific approach combined with conventional strategy viewed from text types, students who were treated by using scientific approach combined with CIRC technique is better than those who were treated by using scientific approach combined with conventional strategy across descriptive , students who were treated by using scientific approach combined with CIRC technique is not better than those who were treated by using scientific approach combined with conventional strategy narrative paragraph. These findings provide empirical evidence of the importance to determine teaching strategies taught in reading classes. Kata Kunci : Writing Competency, Scientific Approach, CIRC Technique, Text Types Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari pengaruh signifikan diantara a) siswa pemahaman membaca siswa yang diajar dengan pengajaran pendekatan ilmiah kombinasi dengan teknik CIRC dan siswa yang diajar dengan pengajaran pendekatan ilmiah kombinasi dengan strategi konvensional dilihat dari jenis teks; b) siswa yang diajar dengan pengajaran pendekatan ilmiah kombinasi dengan teknik CIRC dan siswa yang diajar dengan pengajaran pendekatan ilmiah kombinasi dengan strategi konvensional di teks descriptive c) siswa yang diajar dengan pengajaran pendekatan ilmiah kombinasi dengan teknik CIRC dan siswa yang diajar dengan pengajaran pendekatan ilmiah kombinasi dengan strategi konvensional di teks narrative. Sampel penelitian berjumblah 353 siswa kelas 8 SMP Harapan Nusantara pada tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Post-Test Only Control group diaplikasikan sebagai desain penelitian. Setelah sesi perlakuan, post test diberikan untuk mengetahui pengaruh data yang diperoleh melalui post-test dianalisis secara deskriptif dan inferential. Secara deskriptif diketahui bahwa, siswa yang mengikuti pengajaran pendekatan ilmiah kombinasi dengan teknik CIRC lebih tinggi skornya daripada siswa yang diajar dengan pengajaran pendekatan ilmiah kombinasi dengan strategi konvensional dilihat dari pemahaman membaca pada jenis teks; kedua siswa yang mengikuti pengajaran pendekatan ilmiah kombinasi dengan teknik CIRC lebih baik daripada siswa yang diajar dengan pengajaran pendekatan ilmiah kombinasi dengan strategi konvensional di teks deskripsi; ketiga siswa yang mengikuti pengajaran pendekatan ilmiah kombinasi dengan teknik CIRC tidak lebih baik daripada siswa yang diajar dengan pengajaran pendekatan ilmiah kombinasi dengan strategi konvensional di teks narrative. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur 1) kontribusi pengetahuan konten untuk kompetensi berbicara siswa, 2) kontribusi kepercayaan diri untuk kompetensi berbicara siswa, 3) kontribusi motivasi instrumental untuk kompetensi berbicara siswa, 4) kontribusi simultan pengetahuan konten, kepercayaan diri dan motivasi instrumental untuk kompetensi berbicara siswa. Penelitian ini memanfaatkan sebuah studi ex post facto dengan analisis regresi. Penelitian ini dilakukan terhadap siswa semester enam kelas hotel manajemen STPBI di tahun akademik 2015/2016. Sampel dari penelitian ini berjumlah 30 siswa yang ditentukan melalui teknik purposive sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis regresi berganda dengan dua jenis instrumen, yaitu, tes dan kuesioner. 1) Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: ada kontribusi yang signifikan dari pengetahuan konten pada kompetensi berbicara siswa sebesar 22,9%, 2) ada kontribusi yang signifikan dari kepercayaan diri pada kompetensi berbicara siswa sebesar 19,1%, 3) ada kontribusi yang signifikan dari motivasi instrumental pada kompetensi berbicara siswa sebesar 16,2%, 4) ada kontribusi yang signifikan dari pengetahuan konten, kepercayaan diri dan motivasi instrumental pada kompetensi berbicara siswa sebesar 38,6%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, para guru disarankan agar lebih mengembangkan cara untuk mengajarkan pengetahuan konten, kepercayaan diri dan motivasi instrumental untuk meningkatkan kompetensi berbicara siswa. The present research makes use of an ex post facto study with regression analysis. The research was done toward the sixth grade students? hotel management of STPBI in academic year 2015/2016. The sample of the study was 30 which were determined through purposive sampling technique. This research used multiple regression analysis with two kinds of instruments, that is, tests and questionnaires. 1) The results show that: there is significant contribution of content knowledge to the students? speaking competency at 22,9%, 2) there is significant contribution of self-confidence to the students? speaking competency at 19,1%, 3) there is significant contribution of instrumental motivation to the students? speaking competency at 16,2%, 4) there is significant contribution of content knowledge, self-confidence and instrumental motivation to the students? speaking competency at 38,6%. Based on the results of this study, the teachers were suggested that they further develop various ways to teach content knowledge, self-confidence and instrumental motivation to improve students? speaking competency.keyword : content knowledge, self-confidence, instrumental motivation, speaking competency

Abstract

Abstract

The aims of the research were to investigate: 1) the effect of Scientific Approach combined with P.L.A.N technique on the tenth grade students? reading competency, and 2) the difference of the effect of Scientific Approach combined with P.L.A.N technique viewed from text genre on the tenth grade students? reading competency. This research was an experimental research with Post-Test Only Control-Group Design. The population of the study was 6 classes (198 students) of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Penebel in academic year 2015/2016, in which two classes were the samples of this research which was assigned into two groups, one class with 34 students as the control group (Scientific Approach without P.L.A.N) and one class with 34 students as experimental group (Scientific Approach combined with P.L.A.N technique). The two groups were determined by using Cluster Random Sampling technique. The data were collected through reading competency test, and were analyzed by applying One-Way ANOVA. In line with the research questions, the results shows that there is statistically significant effect of Scientific Approach combined with P.L.A.N technique on the tenth grade students? reading competency. Besides, there is no significant difference of the effect of Scientific Approach combined with P.L.A.N technique viewed from text genre (i.e. descriptive, narrative, recount) on the tenth grade students? reading competency. These results provide empirical evidence of the importance of implementing the specific teaching strategies of Scientific Approach combined with P.L.A.N technique in improving students? reading competency.Kata Kunci : Scientific Approach, P.L.A.N (Predict, Locate, Add, Note) technique, text genre, reading competency. Fokus penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui; 1) pengaruh pendekatan ilmiah yang dikombinasikan dengan teknik P.L.A.N terhadap kompetensi membaca siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 1 Penebel, dan 2) perbedaan pengaruh pendekatan ilmiah yang dikombinasikan dengan teknik P.L.A.N ditinjau dari jenis teks terhadap kompetensi membaca siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 1 Penebel. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen dengan bentuk rancangan Post-Test Only Control-Group Design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah 6 kelas dari kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Penebel tahun ajaran 2015/2016 yang terdiri dari 198 siswa, dimana dua kelas merupakan sampel dari penelitian ini yang menjadi dua kelompok, satu kelas yang terdiri 34 orang siswa sebagai kelompok control (Pendekatan Ilmiah tanpa menggunakan teknik P.L.A.N), dan satu kelas yang terdiri dari 34 siswa sebagai kelompok eksperimen (Pendekatan Ilmiah dengan teknik P.L.A.N). Penentuan sampel ditentukan dengan menggunakan teknik Cluster Random Sampling. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui tes kompetensi membaca, dan kemudian dianalisa dengan One-Way ANOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara statistik terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari strategi pendekatan ilmiah dengan teknik P.L.A.N terhadap kemampuan membaca siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Penebel, dan tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dari pengaruh strategi pendekatan ilmiah dengan teknik P.L.A.N ditinjau dari jenis teks terhadap kemampuan membaca siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Penebel ditinjau. Hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan bukti empiris tentang pentingnya penerapan strategi pendekatan ilmiah yang dikombinasikan dengan teknik P.L.A.N dalam upaya meningkatkan kompetensi membaca siswa.keyword : Pendekatan Ilmiah, teknik P.L.A.N (Predict, Locate, Add, Note), teks, kompetensi membaca.
