Abstract

Herb is a traditional medicine derived from ingredients or ingredients in the form of plant, animal, mineral, sarian preparations used for treatment. The practice of consuming herbal medicine has been going on for generations, as well as the consumption of herbal medicine for pregnant women which aims to eliminate nausea, vomiting, fatigue and weakness, strengthen the fetus and calm the mind. Side effects caused include miscarriages, fetal heart abnormalities and the skin of the fetus is layered or crusted because of the sediment of herbs, and the placenta becomes sticky. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge about pregnant herbs and the use of herbs during pregnancy. Research method: This study uses explanatory surveys. The total population is 40 mothers in the Karangklesem village, South Purwokerto. The sampling technique is random sampling. Data analysis using the chi square test with a degree of confidence p = 0.05. The results showed that the majority of pregnant women had poor knowledge about herb which was equal to 75%, the majority of pregnant women consuming herb during pregnancy that is equal to 60%, and there was a significant relationship between maternal knowledge with herbal consumption during the pregnancy. The conclusion is that there is a relationship between mother's knowledge about herb and the consumption of herb during the pregnancy. Keywords: knowledge, consumption of herb during pregnancy

Abstract

Abstract: This study was a classroom action research (CAR) to improve students’ writing ability on analytical exposition text in senior high school students. In this study, constructivism was implemented as a strategy to help student in writing analytical exposition. Constructivism consists of orientation, elicitation, restructuring idea, application of idea and review. The techniques of data collecting in this research were observation and written test. Data was analyzed by using scoring profile. The students’ writing ability in analytical exposition text improved in two cycles from 75.55 in cycle 1 then improved to 82.40 in cycle two. The improvements of this study were particularly in students’ writing on generic structure, and mechanics. Keywords: writing, analytical exposition text, constructivism.   Abstrak: Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (CAR) yang bertujuan unuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis sebuah teks analytical exposition pada siswa sekolah menengah atas. Dalam penelitian ini, constuctivism diimplementasikan sebagai sebuah strategi untuk membantu siswa dalam menulis teks analytical exposition. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan meliputi observasi dan tes tertulis. Hasil data penelitian dianalisi menggunakan rubrik penilaian. Kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks analytical exposition mengalami peningkatan dalam pada dua siklus dari 75.55 pada siklus pertama kemudian meningkat menjadi 82.40 pada siklus kedua. Peningkatan yang dialami siswa pada penelitian ini umumnya terjadi pada penulisan struktur generik dan mekanisme penulisan teks analytical exposition. Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this Classroom Action Research was to improve the third grade students' vocabulary at SD Negeri 07 Pontianak. This research consisted of two cycles. The subjects of the study were 30 students of third grade of SD Negeri 07 Pontianak in the academic year of 2012/2013. To collect data, the writer used achievement test and observation checklist. To analyze the finding data, the writer used descriptive method where the researcher describes all the processes of vocabulary teaching and learning process using Jazz chants. In cycle 1 the students' score of vocabulary did not achieve the minimum level of achievement (MLA) 65, where the students' score was 50.83. By having these result, the writer then re-conducted the next cycle. In the cycle 2, the student's vocabulary improved, where the students' score was 89.30. By having this result, the students' vocabulary also achieved the MLA. It means that Jazz Chant was appropriate to be applied to improve students' vocabulary. Keywords: Vocabulary, Jazz Chants   Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian tindakan kelas ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kosakata siswa kelas 3 SD Negeri 07 Pontianak. Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua siklus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 30 siswa kelas 3 SD Negeri 07 Pontianak tahun pembelajaran 2012/ 2013. Untuk mengumpulkan data,  peneliti menggunakan uji kemampuan dan lembar observasi. Untuk menganalisa data, peneliti menggunakan metode deskriptif dimana peneliti menggambarkan semua proses belajar mengajar kosakata menggunakan Jazz Chants. Di siklus I nilai siswa tidak mencapai standar pencapaian  minimal 65, nilai kosakata siswa 50,83. Dengan hasil ini, peneliti lalu melanjutkan ke siklus berikutnya. Dalam siklus ke II, nilai kosakata siswa meningkat menjadi 89,30. Dengan hasil ini, kosakata siswa telah mencapai nilai pencapaian minimal. Ini menunjukkan bahwa Jazz chants cocok untuk diaplikasikan untuk meningkatkan kosakata siswa. Kata Kunci: Kosakata, Jazz Chants

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this research was to solve the problemin learning English by using PowerPoint Slide Show Pictures media at the third grade elementary students of PelitaHarapan Pontianak, West Kalimantan. This study used Classroom Action Research (CAR) through 3 cycles. The participants in this study were the third grade students which consist of 38 people. The technique of data collection in this research is observation, field note and achievement test by asking students to write vocabulary based on the pictures displayed. The research finding of using PowerPoint Slide Show Pictures is the decrease number of students who get low score under Minimum Standard Completeness (KKM) of 60% in the first cycle to 5% in the last cycle. This result is categorized as moderate.It means that the students who got better score were increasing. The students also could write the words of English vocabulary with the correct spelling, they could pronounce correctly, they also could understand the meaning of words and got a lot of new English vocabulary, certainly they were really enjoyed in learning process by using PowerPoint Slide Show Pictures. Abstract

Abstract: This research entitled The Flow of Interaction through Online Discussion in the English Language Classroom.Specifically, the aim of this research is find out the flow of interaction within online discussion in fourth semester learner of English Study Program. The method was Case Study. The data was collected through printing all posting from Yahoogroupsbecause the discussion and information exchange took place in that online group discussion. Firstly, this research produced how all learners respond to instructor’s posting. It can be from the instructor to the learner, the learner to the instructor and learner to the other learner with an expanding posting. Secondly, the writer categorized the learners’ postings into four categories represented their responses toward the topics given in the online discussion forum. From four episodes that were analyzed, the learners’ responses were distinguished into five categories, they are: social function, asking question/clarification, answering question, agreement/disagreement, and emerging ideas.The result of the data analysis have been significantly provides useful evidence on the instructor’s communication, the online interaction and the learners responses categories. Learners have expressed their satisfaction with online learning and with collaborative work. The flow of interaction among instructor and learners were more intensive toward teaching learning with ICT. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui arah interaksi dalam diskusi online pada mahasiswa semester empat program studi Bahasa Inggris. Metode yang digunakan adalah Case Study. Karena proses diskusi dan sumber informasinya sudah terekam dalam Yahoogroups maka proses analisis diambil melalui Yahoogroups. Pertama, penelitian ini membuktikan bagaimana semua mahasiswa merespon postingan instruktur. Postingan tersebut bias saja postingan yang berasal dari instruktur ke mahasiswa, mahasiswa ke instruktur atau pun seorang mahasiswa dengan postingan yang ditujukan untuk banyak mahasiswa. Kedua, penulis membuat postingan menjadi lima kategori dari empat episode berdasarkan diskusi online. Kelima kategori itu diantaranya, social function, asking question/clarification, answering question, agreement/disagreement, and emerging ideas. Hasil dari penelitian ini memberikan fakta yang signifikan bahwa mahasiswa merasa puas dengan belajar secara online. Kata kunci: ICT, Online Discussion, The Flow of Interaction

Abstract

Abstract: This study was a classroom action research (CAR) to improve students writing ability on report text in senior high school students. In this study, Peer Response Technique was used as a strategy to help students in writing report text. The process of Peer Response Technique consists of revising activity which helped the students to write the generic structure of report text such as general classification and identification and editing activity that helped the students to write the language features of report text by checking the use of vocabulary and grammar. The techniques of data collecting in this research were observation checklist, field note, and writing test. Data was analyzed by using scoring profile. The students writing ability in report text improved in three cycles from 55.86 in cycle 1 then improved to 61.89 in cycle 2 and up to 68.73 in cycle 3. The improvements of this study were particularly in students writing on generic structure and language features of report text. Abstrak: Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (CAR) yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan siswa dalam menulis sebuah teks report pada siswa sekolah menengah atas. Dalam penelitian ini, tehnik Peer Response digunakan sebagai strategi untuk membantu siswa dalam menulis teks report. Tehnik Peer Response terdiri dari aktivitas merevisi yang membantu siswa dalam menulis bentuk umum dari sebuah teks report seperti mengklasifikasikan dan mendeskripsikan sebuah topik dan editing untuk membantu siswa dalam menulis ciri kebahasaan dari sebuah teks report dengan memeriksa kembali penggunaan kosa kata dan gaya bahasa di dalam teks. Tehnik pengumpulan data yang digunakan meliputi lembar observasi, catatan lapangan, dan tes menulis. Hasil data penelitian dianalisis berdasarkan rubrik penilaian. Kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks report mengalami peningkatan pada tiga siklus dari 55,86 pada siklus pertama kemudian meningkat menjadi 61,89 pada siklus kedua dan mencapai 68,73 pada siklus ketiga. Peningkatan yang dialami siswa dalam penelitian ini umumnya pada kemampuan menulis bentuk umum dan ciri kebahasaan dari teks report. Abstract

  Abstract : This thesis is about how effective key word clustering to improve the students’ recount writing. The research is held at SMP Negeri 17 Pontianak in academic year 2013/2014. The writer applied quasi experimental study on her research with one class as the control group and the other class is the experimental group.             From research findings, the mean score of posttest in experimental group was higher than the mean score of posttest in control group (78.3 >54.7). Moreover, the interval of the students’ mean score in experimental group was higher than control group (25.1> 0.2). The result of Effect Size was 14.4 (categorized as “strong effect”). The t-value (16.27) was bigger than t-table (1.671). The significant difference could be interpreted that the use of key words clustering is effective to improve the students’ achievement in writing recount text.Based on the result of the data computation, it was obtained that the t-test score (16.27) was higher than t-table (1.671) at 0.05 the degree of freedom (df)= + -2 (33+33-2=64). This could prove that teaching recount writing by using key words clustering is effective. Keywords : recount, key word clustering, brainstorming Abstrak : Skripsi ini tentang seberapa efektif keyword clustering untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis recount siswa. Penelitian ini diadakan di SMP Negeri 17 Pontianak pada tahun akademik 2013/2014. Penulis menerapkan studi eksperimental kuasi pada penelitiannya dengan satu kelas sebagai kelompok kontrol dan kelas lainnya adalah kelompok eksperimen.  Dari hasil penelitian, nilai rata-rata posttest pada kelompok eksperimen lebih tinggi dari nilai rata-rata posttest kelompok kontrol (78,3> 54,7). Selain itu, interval nilai rata-rata siswa dalam kelompok eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelompok kontrol (25,1> 0,2). Hasil Pengaruh Ukuran adalah 14,4 (dikategorikan sebagai "efek yang kuat"). T-value (16.27) lebih besar dari t-tabel (1,671). Perbedaan signifikan dapat diartikan bahwa penggunaan keyword clustering efektif untuk meningkatkan prestasi siswa dalam menulis recount text.Based hasil perhitungan data, diperoleh bahwa nilai t-test (16.27) lebih tinggi dari t-tabel (1,671) pada 0,05 derajat kebebasan (df) = + -2 (33 + 33-2 = 64). Hal ini dapat membuktikan bahwa pengajaran menulis penghitungan dengan menggunakan key word clustering adalah efektif. Kata kunci : recount, key word clustering, brainstorming

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis deskriptif, khususnya identifikasi dan deskripsi dengan menggunakan graphic organizer sebagai media. Penelitian ini adalah sebuah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah Murid Kelas VIIC, yang be{urnlah27 siswa. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui ceklis observasi, catatan lapangan, dan tes. Data tersebut dianalisa dengan rnendeskripsikan ceklis observasi dan catatan lapangan, dan menggunakan rumus mencari nilai rata-rala. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis deskripsi rneningkat dalam 3 siklus dengan menggunakan graphic organizer sebagai media. Dari siklus 1 menuju siklus 2 ada peningkatan sebesar 1}6a/o. Sementara dari siklus 2 ke siklus 3 ada peningkatan 42%. Peningkatan dari siklus peftama sampai dengan siklus ketiga bisa pencerminan bahwa graphic organizer sangat membantu siswa dalam menulis graphic organizer. Hasil skor yang didapat siswa menunjukkan bahwa siswa menjadi lebih baik pada setiap siklusnya. Lebih rinci, peneiiti mencatat bahwaaspek identifikasi dan deskripsi mengalami peningkatan yang cukup drastis dibandingkan aspek kosakata dan gramrnar. Ternuan ini mendukung gagasan bahwa graphic organizer meriregang peranan penting dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis deskripsi pada siswa, karena meningkatkan kemampuan deskripsi dan identifikasi adalah fungis utama dari graphic organizer.Kata kunci : Meningkatkan, Menulis Deskriptif, Graphic OrganizerAbstract: This research is intended to improve students descriptive writing skill, especially in identification and description by applying graphic organizer as the media. This research is a classroom action research which is conducted in three cycles. The subject of this research is Grade VIIC, numbering 27 students. The data is collected by using observation checklist, fieldnote, and test. The data is analyzed by describing the observation checklist and fieldnote, and by using formula of mean score. The result indicate that the students descriptive writing ability improve in three cycle by applying graphic organizer.From first cycle to the second cycle there was 106% improvement. While from the second cycle to the third cycle there was 42% improvement. The improvement from the first cycle up to the third cycle could be a reflection that graphic organizer was helped the students in their descriptive writing. The result shows that the students get better and better each cycle.In more depth, the researcher noted that description and identification was two skills that encounter the most significance improvement compared to vocabulary and grammar.This finding support the notion that graphic organizer held a great role in improving students descriptive writing, because improving identification and description are the graphic organizers main function. Abstract

Model Pembelajaran SAVI Dalam Pembelajaran Simple Present Tense Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Nanga Pinoh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: 1). Model rancangan pembelajaran SAVI yang relevan untuk pembelajaran Simple Present Tense siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Nanga Pinoh; 2) Penerapan model pembelajaran SAVI untuk mempelajari Simple Present Tense siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Nanga Pinoh; 3) Hasil penerapan model pembelajaran SAVI dalam mempelajari Simple Present Tense siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Nanga Pinoh . Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, bahwa: 1). Nilai SAVI dalam model rancangan pembelajaran SAVI tergambar dalam penggunaaan media kartu bolak-balik dan media audio dalam kegiatan pembelajarannya 2). Siswa secara berkelompok menggunakan kartu bolak balik untuk menyusun kata-kata acak menjadi pola kalimat atau kalimat utuh sambil mendengarkan instruksi dari media audio. 3). Siswa sangat senang belajar Simple Present Tense secara berkelompok dengan menggunakan media kartu bolak balik dan media audio dalam model pembelajaran SAVI. Siswa tidak mengantuk, bosan, pasif atau sibuk sendiri. This study aims to determine: 1). SAVI Instruction Design Model that is relevant for the simple present learning for the eight grade students of SMPN 2 Nanga Pinoh; 2). The application of SAVI Instruction Design Model In Simple Present Tense Learning for the eight grade students of SMPN 2 Nanga Pinoh; 3). The result of SAVI Instruction Model application in Simple Present Tense learning. The method of this study is action research. The research was conducted in two cycles. The results of the research shows that: 1). Using Michael Flash Card and audio in learning activity of Simple Present Tense shows the values of SAVI 2). In group, the students use the cards and audio media to arrange the jumble words into good sentences or good form of Simple Present Tense. 3). Students are happy in learning Simple Present Tense by SAVI Instruction Model in group using cards and audio media. They were not sleepy, boring, passive, or busy with his/her own activity. Abstract

Abstrak: Studi dengan metode deskriptif ini bertujuan untuk meneliti keterlibatan kognitif mahasiswa dari program studi Bahasa Inggris dalam berpartisipasi pada diskusi online di kelas TL-ICT I B. Data berasal dari transkrip komentar mahasiswa di dalam forum online. Murid-murid berkontribusi pada diskusi online dalam beberapa tingkatan kognitif yang akan mengarah kepada dua tingkatan terbesar yaitu keterlibatan kognitif tingkat tinggi dan keterlibatan kognitif tingkat rendah. Keterlibatan kognitif tingkat tinggi akan membawa mereka kepada pengolahan informasi yang lebih dalam seperti penjabaran konsep ataupun debat. Sedangkan keterlibatan kognitif tingkat rendah merupakan pengolahan informasi secara sangat sederhana. Analisis konten dilakukan pada enam episod diskusi yang digunakan sebagai sampel. Dalam analisis ini terdapat lima kategori seperti kategori pertanyaan, pernyataan yang terbagi menjadi enam tipe yang berbeda berdasarkan taksonomi Bloom, kategori refleksi, mentor, dan skafold. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa mayoritas mahasiswa berkontribusi dengan keterlibatan kognitif tingkat rendah, hanya pemikiran sederhana dengan sedikit pemahaman terhadap topik yang didiskusikan. Ini dibuktikan dari pengklasifikasian komentar mahasiswa yang terpusat pada kategori pernyataan tipe I (Responding) dan kategori pernyataan tingkat II (Informative). Kata Kunci: Diskusi online, Keterlibatan Kognitif Abstract: This descriptive study aims to investigate the cognitive engagement of English students in asynchronous online discussion of class TL-ICT I B. The data were derived from transcripts of students postings. Students contributed in online discussions in some levels of cognitive that lead to two broad levels engagement namely high level of cognitive engagement and lower level of cognitive engagement. High level of cognitive engagement will lead to deeper levels of information processing which are associated with elaborating concepts and debating or negotiating meaning. In the contrary, the low level of cognitive engagement refers to surface level of information proccessing. Using a coding rubric, The Analytical Framework for Cognitive Engagement in Discussion, content analysis was conducted on six episodes of the discussions as sample. This rubric consists of five categories such as question, statements divided into six different types based on Taxonomy Bloom, reflection, mentoring, and scaffolding. The findings showed that majority of students engaged with lower level of cognitive engagement, merely superficial thinking with a little understanding toward the issues. It was evidenced in the findings that contributions exhibited by the students centered on statement type I (Responding) and statement type II (Informative).
