Abstract

The ineffective use of constructivist learning through mathematical abstraction activities by teachers has led to low mathematics learning results. To promote mathematical abstraction, teaching materials must integrate the visualization of Minangkabau batik motifs. Therefore, this research aimed to describe the characteristics of teaching materials by adopting a 4D developmental model. The data analysis across the development stage included qualitative descriptive analysis for data received from interviews, observations, document reviews, and literature reviews, as well as quantitative descriptive analysis for data obtained from wide validation. The results showed that (1) Minangkabau batik motifs contained the concept of transformation geometry including reflection, rotation, translation, and dilation. (2) The characteristics of teaching materials included (a) having a cover, encouragement sheet, foreword, table of contents, materials, supporting information, exercises, assessments, and bibliography, (b) meeting the appropriateness of graphics, content, and language, (c) displaying the visualization of Minangkabau batik motifs for presentation of material, exploration of the properties of transformation geometry, and finding answers to prompting and practice questions, as well as (d) containing student activities in constructing concepts and making connections between such concepts. In conclusion, this research could help teachers improve students' mathematical abstraction using local cultures and teaching materials.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

To improve library management in accordance with the National Library Standards (SNP), schools must comprehensively implement the Head of Library Regulation No. 11 of 2017. This study aims to examine the implementation of: (1) collection standards, (2) facilities and infrastructure standards, (3) service standards, and (4) library personnel standards at SMP N 5 Batusangkar based on the Head of Library Regulation No. 11 of 2017. This research employed a qualitative evaluation using the discrepancy model. The study was conducted at SMP N 5 Batusangkar, involving three key informants: the school principal, the head librarian, and a library staff. Research instruments consisted of interview guidelines, observation sheets, and documentation. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. Data analysis was carried out using data triangulation, including source and technique triangulation. The results of the study show that: from the 12 library collection standards, only 1 standard has not been implemented. Second, from the 5 standards of library facilities and infrastructure, the 4 standards have not been implemented properly. Third, from the 10 library service standards, only 4 standards have been implemented, but the other 6 standards have not been implemented properly. Fourth, from the 6 standards of library staff, only 4 standards have been implemented, but the other 2 standards have not been implemented properly. In other words, the library of SMP N 5 Batusangkar has implemented the Head of Library Regulation No. 11 of 2017, but still needs improvement in several aspects.

Abstract

Translation among multiple representations is one of the important abilities to be possessed by prospective mathematics teachers. The mathematics learning curriculum ranging from elementary to college level needs to emphasize the ability to translate mathematical ideas in a form of representation to different mathematical representation structures. Assessing of this ability is important because it can be used as a basis for developing other mathematical literacy skills. The purpose of this study is to describe the level of translation between mathematical representations of prospective mathematics teachers. A descriptive qualitative study was conducted to fourty prospective mathematics teachers in State Islamic University of Mataram. The selection of research subjects was carried out in a purposive sampling. Data were obtained from mathematical translational thinking task in the form of an assignment sheet consisting of 2 questions related to quadratic equations and task-based interviews. Data were analyzed using fixed comparison analysis, which is comparing incidents (phenomena) with the aim of classifying data. The study found five levels of translational ability between mathematical representations, which were named: level 0, level 1, level 2, level 3 and level 4. The characteristics of each level are built based on four mathematical translational thinking processes: unpacking the source of representations, coordinating initial stage, design the target representation and determine the equivalence between the source and target representations. The findings in this study could be used as a guide to develop an instrument to assess mathematical translation ability.

Abstract

This research was motivated by problems found at SD IT Mesjid Raya Lantai Batu which showed low student learning outcomes due to the lack of variety in the teaching materials used by teachers. This research aims to produce LKPD based on students' learning styles that are valid and practical. This type of research is development research using 4D models (define, design, development, and desseminate). However, due to limited costs and time, this development research only reached the development stage. The instruments used were validity questionnaires, teacher response questionnaires, and student response questionnaires. Based on the research results, it shows that the LKPD based on student learning styles that has been designed is very valid with an average percentage of 90.17% and the results of the practicality of the teacher response questionnaire are very practical with an average percentage of 85.08%, while the results of the student response questionnaire are very practical with an average percentage of 86.02%. So that LKPD based on students' learning styles is suitable for use in the learning process.
