Abstract

East Java Province has the potential for a large capture fisheries industry which is supported by its strategic location because it is bordered by the Java Sea, Bali Strait, and the Indian Ocean. The existence of climate change is allegedly having a direct or indirect impact on capture fisheries. Climate change causes an increase in sea surface temperatures, an increase in extreme weather events and their intensity, changes in precipitation patterns, and freshwater runoff. Based on this, it is necessary to carry out an analysis to determine the effect of temperature (X1), rainfall (X2), humidity (X3), and sunlight (X4) simultaneously and partially on fish production in East Java Province, Indonesia. This research method is descriptive using multiple linear regression analysis, F test, and t-test. The results showed that the data were normally distributed and there was no multicollinearity in the independent variables. The resulting linear regression equation is y= -1775919,888 + 21619,513X1 – 160,916X2 + 30558,699X3 – 4664,191X4. The results of the F test show a significant value of 0.000, which means 0.000 <0.05 so all independent variables have a significant effect simultaneously on the dependent variable. The t-test shows that the temperature (X1) and solar radiation (X4) has no partially significant effect on the dependent variable. While the variables humidity (X2) and rainfall (X3) have no partial significant effect on the dependent variable, namely capture fisheries production.

Abstract

Fisheries have an important role in society, one of which is as a food source rich in nutritional content and animal protein. Even though the fishery potential in Indonesia is very high, in fact, in several areas, the level of fish consumption is still below the national fish consumption level, one of which is in East Java. This is very ironic when compared with the fact that in 2022 East Java was the province with the highest capture fisheries production in Indonesia. Efforts that can be made to increase fish consumption in East Java are by introducing the types of fish consumed, both freshwater fish and sea fish, and introducing processed fishery products to toddlers. The method of implementing this community service activity consists of 3 (three) stages, i.e. the preparation, implementation, and reporting stages. During the implementation, the participants showed quite high enthusiasm because the event was packaged by leading illustrations accompanied by children's songs about fish. The results of the community service activities can be seen from an increase in the preferences to eat fish and an increase in toddlers' knowledge of the types of freshwater and marine fish that can be consumed.

Abstract

As one of the ten leading aquaculture commodities in Indonesia. The high demand for milkfish (Chanos chanos Forsskal) certainly requires a new alternative to fulfill feed ingredients in milkfish cultivation. Currently, the fish meal comes from imports and is quite expensive, despite being the main source of protein for farmed fish. Therefore, an alternative to the fish meal is needed to reduce production costs. One of them is maggot meal which has high availability and high protein. This study aims to examine maggot meal as fish meal substitutes effects on milkfish’s (Chanos chanos Forsskal) growth and survival. This study utilized the experimental method, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), and analyzed with ANOVA. The difference in treatment lies in the difference in the percentage of fish and maggot meal as the substitutes, divided into five treatments of 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. The parameters being observed include absolute weight gain, survival rate, and specific weight growth rate. The results illustrate highest average absolute weight growth was recorded in 0% maggot meal substitution, and the highest daily specific weight growth rate was in the treatment of substitution with 0% maggot meal. The greatest survival rate, there is a substitution of 25% maggot meal. ANOVA results illustrated no significant effect (P<0.05) on the growth of total weight, the growth rate of specific weight, and the milkfish (Chanos chanos Forsskal) survival rate from the maggot meal substitutes

Abstract

Abstract

The Fisheries Management Area of the Republic of Indonesia 572 (WPP-RI 572) is a marine area covering the waters of the Indian Ocean west of Sumatra and the Sunda Strait, which has the potential for dominant marine resources, particularly the capture of skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis). Determining fishing areas can be estimated based on the conditions of the marine region. The habitat of a species is usually described by oceanographic parameters. Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and Chlorophyll-a are important oceanographic parameters to determine the presence of skipjack tuna and facilitate the analysis of fishing areas. Therefore, this research aims to map the skipjack tuna fishing areas in WPP-RI 572, which is landed at the Nizam Zachman Ocean Fishery Port in Jakarta, based on the distribution of sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a in WPP-RI 572. The method used in this research is a quantitative descriptive method, and the data used are secondary data in the form of SST satellite image data, chlorophyll-a obtained from NASA Ocean Color and Earth data, and other supporting data, as well as the collection of coordinate point data taken from logbook data and skipjack tuna catch data obtained from the Nizam Fishing Base, Jakarta. The data is then analyzed statistically using multiple linear regression analysis. The research results show that oceanographic parameters such as sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a significantly influence the amount of skipjack tuna catches in WPP-RI 572.

Abstract

Determining fishing Ground (FG), fishermen on Seraya Besar Island still use traditional methods or only experience, so there is a need for a touch of technology and knowledge to predict fishing ground through the distribution of chlorophyll-a and the distribution of sea surface temperature (SST) so that fishing activities are more effective. and effective and efficient. Starting from this idea, the author wants to study the distribution of chlorophyll-A and sea surface temperature and their influence on the catch of yellowfin tuna (Thunnus Albacares) on Seraya Besar Island, East Nusa Tenggara. This research uses a descriptive method. Based on this research, the average distribution of chlorophyll-a from January to November 2023 in the fishing ground fishermen on Seraya Besar Island was 0.44 mg/m3. The average distribution of sea surface temperatures from January to November 2023 in the fishing ground for fishermen on Seraya Besar Island is 27.55 °C. Linear regression with the equation Y = 2618.120 + 1715.958 X1 - 99.329 X2 with an adjusted R2 value of 79%. The T test results show that the chlorophyll-a distribution variable has a significant partial effect. Meanwhile, the variable distribution of sea surface temperature has no significant partial effect on Yellowfin Tuna catches on Seraya Besar Island, East Nusa Tenggara. The results of the F test show that the variables of chlorophyll-a distribution and sea surface temperature have a significant simultaneous effect on the catch of Yellowfin Tuna on Seraya Besar Island, East Nusa Tenggara.
