Abstract

Eco enzyme is one of the potential organic waste processing technologies in the future. This community service activities aims to educate community groups ini managing organic waste produced by households into liquid fertilizer products that have economic value. The implementation method is carried out face to face by delivering materialand brochures as well as direct demonstrations of making eco-enzyme. The materials used are household waste such as vegetable and fruit that are not suitable for concumption, sugar/molase and water with a ratio of 3:1:6. The result of this activity is the increased understanding of participant in the management of organic waste originating from household. Participants showed good response, acceptance and participation during the activity. Participant are able to produce their own eco-enzyme as a natural disinfectant that can be used for households, agriculture or animal husbandry.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi tingkat substitusi tepung kedelai terhadap tepung daun indigofera (Zollingeriana) dalam formulasi pakan buatan terhadap kinerja produksi ikan patin siam (Pangasius hypophthalmus). Penelitian ini dirancang menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL), dengan empat perlakuan dan tiga ulangan. Perlakuan yang digunakan yaitu rasio perbandingan substitusi tepung kedelai dan tepung daun indigofera, P0= (40% : 0%), P1= (36% : 4%), P2= (32% : 8%), P3= (28% : 12%). Ikan yang digunakan adalah benih ikan patin siam berukuran berat 4,79 ± 0,85 gram. Pemeliharaan selama 40 hari dalam wadah berupa waring ukuran 1x1x0.5 meter. Pakan diberikan sebesar 5% dari bobot biomasa, dengan tiga kali pemberian yaitu pada pukul 07.30, 13.00 dan 15.30 WIB. Parameter penelitian terdiri dari data (PBM) Pertumbuhan Bobot Mutlak, (PPM) Pertumbuhan Panjang Mutlak, Rasio Konversi Pakan (FCR), (RP) Retensi Protein, (RL) Retensi Lemak dan (TKH) Tingkat Kelangsungan Hidup serta parameter kualitas air sebagai pendukung. Hasil penelitian didapatkan data bahwa substitusi tepung kedelai terhadap tepung daun indigofera dalam formulasi pakan benih ikan patin siam mampu meningkatkan kinerja produksi ikan. Substitusi pada dosis (P3) 28% tepung kedelai dan 12% tepung daun indigofera menghasilkan nilai tertinggi terhadap kinerja produksi dan kelangsungan hidup ikan patin. Nilai kaualitas air masih berada dalam kisaran optimal untuk pertumbuhan ikan.   This study aims to evaluate the effect of substitution of soybean flour and indigofera leaf meal (Zollingeriana) in artificial feed on production performance and survival of Pangasius hypophthalmus. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and three repetitions. The treatments tested were soy flour and indigofera leaf flour substitution, P0 = 40% soybean flour 0% indigofera leaf flour, P1 = 36% soybean flour 4% indigofera leaf flour, P2 = 32% soybean flour 8% indigofera leaf flour, P3 = 28% soybean flour 12% indigofera leaf flour. The test fish used were Siamese catfish fry measuring an average weight of 4.79 ± 0.85 grams which were reared in a waring (1x1x0.5 meter) for 40 days. Fish were fed 5% of their body weight three times a day at 08.00, 13.00 and 15.00 WIB. Parameters observed are absolute weight and length Growth, Food Conversion Ratio (FCR), Fat and Protein Retention, and Survival Rate as well as water quality parameters as a support. The results showed that the substitution of soy flour and indigofera leaf flour in the Siamese catfish seed fry formulation was able to increase production performance and survival rate of fish. Substitution at a dose (P3) of 28% soy flour and 12% indigofera leaf flour resulted in the highest value for production performance and survival of fish. Water quality parameters during rearing were still in optimal conditions for fish growth.

Abstract

This study aims to determine lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolates from fermented rice water and milk, to determine the characteristics of the LAB isolates obtained. LAB isolation was carried out using a multilevel dilution technique using peptone water  diluent solution 1%. Samples were diluted to 10-7 then grown on MRS Agar media added with 1% CaCO3 and incubated at 37˚C for 48 hours. The characterization of LAB isolates was carried out following the rules of Bergey's Manual of Determinative Bacteriology, namely based on morphological, physiological and biochemical characteristics. The results showed that there were three bacterial isolates namely A1 (Bacillus sp), A2 (Staphylococcus sp) and A3 (Aerococcus sp) which had the potential as probiotic candidates. Characteristics of probiotic candidate bacterial isolates: gram positive and catalase positive for all bacterial isolates, then motile, oxidase positive and fermentative for isolate A1, while non motile, oxidase negative and oxidative for isolates A2 and A3

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi kinerja produksi udang galah (Macrobrachium resenbergii) pada sistem resirkulasi. Benih udang galah sebanyak 105 ekor yang diperoleh dari pengepul udang galah hasil tangkapan alam dengan ukuran bobot 2,88±0,63 gram. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 3 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan. Perlakuan yang diujikan yaitu pemeliharaan dengan padat tebar berbeda pada sistem resirkulasi: kontrol = pemeliharaan tanpa sistem resirkulasi, P1: 5 ekor per wadah, P2= 10 ekor per wadah, P3= 15 ekor per wadah. Parameter yang diamati yaitu Pertumbuhan Bobot Mutlak, Pertumbuhan Panjang Mutlak, Laju Pertumbuhan Harian Tingkat Kelangsungan Hidup dan Kualitas Air. Data yang diperoleh diolah menggunakan program MS. Office Excel 2010 dan untuk uji ANOVA dianalisis menggunakan program SPSS 16.0 dengan selang kepercayaan 95 %. Hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa produksi udang galah pada sistem resirkulasi menghasilkan nilai pertumbuhan bobot mutlak terbaik, nilai pertumbuhan panjang mutlak, laju pertumbuhan harian serta tingkat kelangsungan hidup tertinggi bila dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya. Sistem resirkulasi mampu menjaga nilai kualitas air tetapn optimal untuk pertumbuhan biota budidaya. The aim of this research is to evaluate the production performance of giant prawns (Macrobrachium resenbergii) in a recirculation system. There were 105 giant fresh water obtained from wild caught giant prawn collectors with a weight of 2.88 ± 0.63 grams. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments tested were rearing with different stocking densities in a recirculation system: control = rearing without a recirculation system, P1: 5 shrimp per container, P2= 10 shrimp per container, P3= 15 shrimp per container. The parameters observed were Absolute Weight Growth, Absolute Length Growth, Daily Growth Rate, Survival Rate and Water Quality. The data obtained was processed using the MS program. Office Excel 2010 and the ANOVA test was analyzed using the SPSS 16.0 program with a confidence interval of 95%. The results of the research showed that the production of giant prawns using a recirculation system produced the best absolute weight growth values, absolute length growth values, daily growth rates and the highest survival rates when compared with other treatments. The recirculation system is able to maintain optimal water quality values for the growth of cultivated biota.

Abstract

Penelitian ini telah dilaksankan pada bulan April-Mei 2024 di kawasan irigasi perairan pasang surut sungai musi, Kecamatan Muara Telang, Kabupaten Banyuasin. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengevaluasi nilai indeks keanekaragaman jenis ikan yang hidup dikawasan irigasi perairan pasang surut sungai musi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode purposive sampling dengan 3 stasiun pengamatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada stasiun 1 ditemukan sebanyak 74 individu yang terdiri atas 8 spesies dan 8 famili, pada stasiun 2 ditemukan sebanyak 51 individu yang tergolong kedalam 9 spesies dan 6 famili, sedangkan stasiun 3 terdapat 38 individu yang terdiri dari 7 spesies dan 7 famili. Secara keseluruhan, nilai total indeks keanekaragama jenis ikan dikawasan irigasi perairan pasang surut sungai musi yaitu sebesar 5,89 yang termasuk dalam kriteria tinggi.   This research was conducted on April-May 2024 in the tidal water irrigation area of ​​the Musi River, Muara Telang District, Banyuasin Regency. This study aims to analyze the fish diversity in the tidal irrigation area of ​​the Musi River. This research used the purposive sampling method with 3 observation stations. The results showed that as many as 74 individuals at station 1 consist of 8 species grouped in 8 families, at station 2 as much as 51 individuals consist of 9 species grouped in 8 families, and than at station 3 there were 38 individuals consist of 7 species grouped in 7 families. Overall, the fish diversity index value in the tidal water irrigation area of ​​the Musi River is 5.89, which are included in the high criteria diversity.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of dietary curcuma infusion supplementation on growth performance and survival rate in giant gouramy. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications. The treatments tested were giving different doses of curcuma infusion, 0.2 g (P1), 0.4 g (P2), 0.6 g (P3), 0.8 g (P4). The experimental fish used were giant gourami with an average body weight of 0.28 ± 0.01 g which were reared for 30 days in 40x30x25 cm3 sized plastic box containing 20 L of water. Feed was given at satiation method twice a day, at 08.00 and 16.00 pm. The research parameters observed include Weight and Length Growth Rate, Survival Rate, and water quality. The results showed that the dietary curcuma infusion supplementation was able to increase the growth performance and survival rate of giant gouramy. Curcuma infusion dose of 0.8 g resulted in the best growth performance and survival which was not significantly different between treatments. Water quality parameters during maintenance are still in optimal conditions for fish growth.

Abstract

Goonch (Bagarius yarelli) is one of the local fish species affected by dynamic changes due to activities along Perjaya Dam. The first component in conducting the cultivation of local fish is domestication The main problem in domestication is the adaptation of wild fish to the controlled environment. Another aspect that needs to concern in domestication is the defense of domesticated species from several pathogens, especially parasites because most of wild fish captured from natural habitats are attacked by several parasites. This study aimed to determine the prevalence and intensity of ectoparasites attacked goonch captured from Perjaya Dam. The sampling method used was purposive sampling method and followed by laboratory examination. A total number of 90 goonch were collected using fishing rods and gillnets with an aid from local fishermen during this study. Ectoparasites were examined on several external organs including skin or scales, fins, and gills. Ectoparasites found during the sample examination were recorded for further calculation of ectoparasites types, prevalence, and intensity. The measurement of water quality parameters was performed after sample collection. Water quality parameters measured consisted of temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, ammonia, and transparency. Goonch captured from Perjaya Dam were infested by Lernaea sp. and Gyrodactylus sp. through single infestation and with the same prevalence level (1.11%). Lernaea sp. showed a higher intensity (52 ind/fish) on goonch than that of Gyrodactylus sp. (1 ind/fish). Almost all water quality parameter in sampling site, including temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen, were in normal ranges to support the live of freshwater fish.Keywords:EctoparasitesGoonchGyrodactylus sp.Lernaea sp.Prevalence

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kinerja reproduksi dan produksi benih ikan bandeng (Chanos chanos) yang produksi oleh unit pembenihan di Bali Utara. Penelitian ini dilakukan di beberapa unit pembenihan ikan bandeng di Desa Penyabang dan Desa Gerogak, Kecamatan Gerogak, Bali Utara. Parameter yang diamati meliputi kriteria induk, derajat pembuahan, derajat penetasan, kualitas air, perkembangan larva, dan kinerja produksi. Kinerja perkembangan larva dan produksi diamati hingga hari ke-21 pemeliharaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa induk yang digunakan oleh usaha pembenihan di Bali Utara memiliki kualitas yang memenuhi Standar Nasional Indonesia. Performa reproduksi yang dicapai adalah 89,3% untuk derajat pembuahan dan 91,8% untuk derajat penetasan. Performa produksi pada usaha pembenihan ikan bandeng menunjukkan nilai sintasan 93,4%, dengan panjang akhir antara 1,3-1,4 cm, dan berat akhir antara 0,12-0,13 gr. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa unit pembenihan ikan bandeng di Bali Utara mempunyai kinerja reproduksi dan produksi yang baik.   This study aimed to evaluate the reproductive and production performances of milkfish (Chanos chanos) fry produced by hatcheries in North Bali. This study was conducted in several hatchery units producing milkfish fry in Penyabang and Gerogak village, Gerogak District, North Bali. Parameters observed included broodstock criteria, fertilization rate, hatching rate, water quality, larval development, and production performances. Larval development and production performances were followed up to 21 days of rearing. The results of the study showed that the broodstock used by hatcheries in North Bali had a quality that complied with Indonesian quality standards. The reproductive performance achieved was 89.3% for egg fertilization and 91,8% for hatching rates. The production performances in milkfish hatcheries showed a survival rate of 93,4%, with a final length between 1,3-1,4 cm, and a final weight between 0,12-0,13 g. These results indicate that the milkfish hatchery units in North Bali has good reproductive and production performance.

Abstract

This community service in Talang Keramat Village, South Sumatra, Indonesia, aimed to empower homemakers by valorising fish skin waste. The primary objective was to promote its use in processed food to improve nutrition and economic prospects. The project specifically sought to: (1) enhance understanding of fish skin's potential as a raw material for nutritious and economically viable food; (2) demonstrate practical methods for processing fish skin into food products; and (3) shift community perception regarding the benefits of utilizing fish skin waste. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with implementation in three phases: pre- and post-test questionnaires to assess comprehension; educational material on transforming fish skin waste; and a demonstration of processed food preparation. Sixteen homemakers participated in the one-day activity. Results showed that 75.00% understood the nutritional and economic value of fish skin waste, 81.25% could explain processing methods, and 87.50% showed improved understanding of its benefits. In conclusion, this community service successfully empowered homemakers with the knowledge and skills to convert fish waste into valuable food products, contributing to nutritional enhancement and economic empowerment within the community.

Abstract

The success of goldfish (Carrasius auratus) spawning is influenced by several factors, including the substrate media for fish spawning. This study aims to analyze the utilization of different substrates on the productivity of goldfish which includes the number of eggs attached to the substrate, the number of fertilized eggs, the number of eggs that hatch, and the survival of goldfish. The research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications, including P1 coconut coir substrate, P2 knitting yarn substrate, P3 Hydrilla sp substrate, and P4 Pistia stratiotes L substrate. The results showed that a lot of goldfish eggs attached to the apu-apu substrate (treatment P4) of 1,959 eggs, the highest number of fertilized eggs was obtained on the substrate Hydrilla sp (treatment P3) of 65.65%, the highest number of eggs hatched on the substrate Hydrilla sp. (P3 treatment) was 78.54%, the highest survival rate was on Pistia stratiotes L substrate (P4) was 85.97 and the results of water quality analysis during the study supported the productivity of goldfish seeds.
