Abstract

Cross-cultural communication requires pragmatics. Pragmatics is "the ability to use language appropriately in social settings." Pragmatic competence in another language involves understanding and carrying out communicative activities or speaking and using the language effectively in varied situations. Several relevant literature and library sources were used for this research. According to Kasper et al. "Library research, like its twin, the academic experiment, involves a kind of organized investigation with prescribed instruments, rules, and tactics." Three core library research systems are examined: checking reference sources and databases, finding and utilizing information sources, and assessing information sources according to research objectives. This article analyzes data on pragmatic competence in students of Indonesian and other foreign languages. The author used a public digital search engine to examine scientific literature on pragmatic competency studies in Indonesia to correlate disparate data and find appropriate results. Qualitative research may be more comprehensive. This study found that most studies used a descriptive qualitative approach. The exam is detailed. Most studies used a qualitative approach to characterize L2 practical skills by level and test, while one study assessed learners' cross-cultural awareness during encounters. Most studies on educational participation and the impact of cross-cultural awareness on pragmatic knowledge in EFL learning use qualitative methods, although there are three studies that use quantitative methods. Reviews and debates provide suggestions. Recent research on pragmatic competence in EFL learning settings features a descriptive qualitative approach complemented by Creswell's qualitative approach that provides greater detail about the phenomenon, and all three studies use quantitative methodology. Pragmatic competence improves EFL students' social skills. Al Khadhmi found that the pragmatic meaning of situational utterances was more difficult to interpret compared to lexical stimuli. Therefore, it is better to continuously improve certain areas, such as training EFL students' awareness before they understand a foreign language and activating pragmatic competence and pragmatic components in them, as this affects their communication inside and outside the classroom

Abstract

Globalization has produced cutting-edge technology that allows people, especially young people, to access information anywhere. Blommaert calls globalization a historical keyword. Despite their similarities, the process of globalization is revolutionary in scope, complexity and dimensions. Over time, globalization can change locations, people, societies, cultures, economies, education, technology, and markets. Many generations consider English to be a universal language. This research is qualitative in nature. Creswell states that qualitative research investigates group intentions in social or human matters. Qualitative research evaluates participants' meaning in this way. Qualitative research uses specific methods to investigate social or human problems. Problem-oriented qualitative research collects data about primary object phenomena. Because it can store and replicate the most profound events and deal with complexity, moral relativism, and live animals, this research uses narrative inquiry. Narrative humanizes humans through the creation and restructuring of stories. Based on interviews and tables about language attitudes among casual English learners across the age range, respondents are very enthusiastic about the English skills learned on YouTube. Baker (quoted in Thuan) says that effective language learners develop a favorable attitude toward their language, which must be taken into account when defining language acquisition attitudes. Divita's lifelong theory helped her learn English. Since learning English, respondents have increased substantially, according to the time scale interview. When the respondent learned English on YouTube informally, he found many channels helpful. Language variation and evolution can be better understood with life span studies, and statistics show that respondents want to learn English. The problem of researching student attitudes by age is solved. The research found that respondents now enjoy their skills across a lifetime, spanning periods and life events. The author concludes that respondents prefer learning English informally. He enjoys learning English on YouTube, which he has used since childhood. This research should investigate respondents' local language skills before and after learning English and whether they prefer formal or informal English learning.

Abstract

The presence of people with disability in society is part of the society itself, so the involvement of them in community life needs attention from those around them. This study analyze the attitudes of society towards people with disability. A total of 69 respondents completed a sentiment scale questionnaire, with the highest score indicating a negative attitude towards people with disability. The questionnaire consisted of 14 questions with a Likert scale from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). Data were analyzed using non-parametric statistics (Spearman correlation coefficient) and multiple regression analysis. The results show that the general attitude of society towards people with disability is positive (M = 2.50). Age and level of education variables show an inverse correlation, indicating that as age and education level of the society increase, the attitude towards disability people also increases. Females have a more positive attitude towards people with disability compared to males.

Abstract

Kemampuan motorik kasar merupakan kemampuan dasar yang perlu dikembangkan pada pendidikan anak usia dini, dapat dikembangkan melalui kegiatan senam. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah untuk mengimplementasikan Kreasi Senam Ceria Fisik Motorik Kasar Anak Di Ra Al-Hijrah Desa Hampalit, Kec. Katingan Hilir, Kab. Katingan. Metode yang digunakan adalah pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah dengan memberikan pengetahuan tentang senam ceria. Hasil temuan memaparkan bahwa anak-anak antusias mendengarkan penjelasan tentang aktivias kreasi senam ceria yang menyenangkan. Senam ceria dilaksanakan pada setiap jum’at pagi selama masa pengabdian 3 bulan. Dalam pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini melibatkan seluruh anak dan guru RA Al-Hijrah hadir dalam kegiatan senam ini Dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan senam ceria ini di harapkan anak-anak lebih bersemangat. Aktiviatas senam ceria ini diharap bisa untuk meningkatkan dan mengembangkan perkambangan fisik motorik anak RA Al-Hijrah. Pembelajaran senam melalui gerak dan lagu pada anak usia dini sangat bermanfaat untuk merangsang perkembangan anak, khususnya perkembangan fisik dan motorik anak. Elemen dasar gerak yang membentuk keterampilan motorik adalah kekuatan, kelincahan, keseimbangan, dan koordinasi. Keterampilan gerakan dasar merupakan bagian penting untuk perkembangan motorik seumur hidup sehingga dianggap sebagai pondasi penting untuk keterampilan olahraga dikemudian hari. Adanya pengabdian ini diharapakan anak-anak, orangtuadan guru dapat menjadikan kreasi senam ceriasa sebagai alternativepengembangan untuk mengembangkan motorik kasar anak.

Abstract

In the hybrid learning era, teachers increasingly need flexible and digital materials. Learning process is now conditioned as a need of students to develop their life skills. This process is carried out by teachers, students, parents, related parties, such as media, and the community. However,  not all the materials in the form of videos of learning are available and can be found easily on the internet. The purpose of this research is developing English supplementary materials for grade nine through YouTube platform based on the content, audio, and visual performance. Research & Development (R&D) Model was applied in this research. The findings of the research are the four revisions of the supplementary materials in the ninth grade through YouTube platform: (1)product: there is revision of the content especially for understandable aspect, that is a translation subtitle through YouTube for the content of supplementary materials, (2) lesson plan: some teachers suggest to make  the lesson plan available to accompany and guide them to teach, the writer make and give the lesson plan which used for accompanying the products which can be used, adapted, based on the students characteristics in each school, (3) modul as a systematic written book with simple explanation to make students learn independently is also required, (4) operational direction: the revision of operational direction is conducted by revising the description of supplementary materials which covers direction of learning, exercise and questions related to the supplementary materials.

Abstract

The low quality of education in Indonesia is caused by the low competence of educators. To improve the teaching and learning process, teachers must be responsible and accountable. The school principal’s strategic management values can also contribute to educational improvement. The principal’s role includes planning, organizing, mobilizing, and evaluating resources to achieve the school’s vision, mission, and goals. The researchers’ study regarding the influence of strategic management and principal competence on the quality of teaching at SMPIT in Prabumulih City is quite interesting. This research examines the impact of principal strategic management, principal competence, and teacher teaching quality at Prabumulih City SMPIT schools, specifically SMPIT Ishlahul Ummah and SMPIT Al Hasanah. The study uses a census sample of 53 teachers, utilizing questionnaires, observation, and documentation methods to gather data. The research reveals that strategic management significantly influences the teaching quality of teachers at SMPIT in Prabumulih City, while the school principal’s competency significantly impacts the teaching quality. The combined effect of these two factors is 78%, with 22% influenced by other variables.

Abstract

Penggunaan pupuk kimia yang berlebihan dapat merusak struktur tanah dan membahayakan lingkungan. Pupuk organik cair (POC) yang dibuat dari limbah rumah tangga, seperti kulit bawang merah, adalah alternatif yang lebih ramah lingkungan. Selain kandungan auksin dan allicin, kulit bawang merah ternyata mengandung banyak zat yang dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman. Di Desa Lamuru, Kabupaten Bone, ada pelatihan dan penyuluhan tentang pembuatan POC dari limbah rumah tangga (kulit bawang merah). Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk memperkenalkan masyarakat tentang pengolahan limbah rumah tangga menjadi pupuk organik yang bermanfaat dan untuk mendorong pemanfaatan limbah dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat dapat memahami dan memiliki keterampilan untuk membuat dan memanfaatkan POC, yang diharapkan dapat berdampak positif terhadap lingkungan

Abstract

This research aims to determine the planning, implementation, and improvement of learning outcomes for narrative essay writing skills in class V UPT SPF SDN Kalukuang IV students, Makassar City. This type of research is class action research (Class Action Research) which consists of two cycles where each cycle is carried out in four meetings. The focus of this research is 1) Narrative essay writing skills and 2) Use of think talk write strategies assisted by image media in class V UPT SPF SDN Kalukuang IV Makassar City. Research procedures include planning, implementing actions, observing and reflecting. The research subjects were 32 class V students, with details of 15 boys and 17 girls. The collected data was analyzed using quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results of this research are: (1) In the first cycle, the average value of learning outcomes for class V UPT SPF SDN Kalukuang IV Makassar City students was obtained, namely 59.2 (2) In the second cycle, the average value of learning outcomes for class V UPT SPF students was obtained. SDN Kalukuang IV Makassar City was higher, reaching 90. The learning completion of class V UPT SPF students at SDN Kalukuang IV Makassar City also increased. In cycle I, 10 (31%) students achieved learning completeness, while in cycle II 30 (94%) students achieved learning completeness and classical learning completion was achieved. This means that learning completeness in cycle II was achieved classically because the number of students who completed it was more than 80%. Based on the results of the research above, it can be concluded that the skill of writing narrative essays for class V UPT SPF SDN Kalukuang IV Makassar City through the application of the think talk write strategy assisted by image media has increased.

Abstract

Pelaku Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah (UMKN) seringkali terlalu fokus kepada proses produksi, sehingga kurang diimbangi dengan pemasaran dan promosi, menjadikan sebuah kendala dalam melakukan penjualan hasil produksinya. Sehingga perlu untuk diadakan sebuah pelatihan yang bertujuan untuk membuat media promosi sederhana dengan aplikasi canva bagi pengrajin khususnya di desa Tabalong Mati. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian library research dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan berbagai teori yang berhubungan dengan judul penelitian dan survei lapangan dengan melaksanakan pelatihan privat yang membahas tentang "Pelatihan Membuat Media Promosi Sederhana Dengan Aplikasi Canva Bagi Pengrajin Di Tabalong Mati ". Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunakan aplikasi canva ini memberikan hasil yaitu meningkatnya pengetahuan dan ketrampilan dalam menggunakan aplikasi Canva untuk membantu membuat desain grafis serta membawa dampak positif karena masyarakat merasakan manfaat penggunaan aplikasi Canva dalam menunjang promosi dan pemasaran kerajinan anyaman di desa Tabalong Mati.
