Abstract

Abstract: This research was classroom action research that aims to improve learning process and to increase student mathematics achievement with applied the learning model of Problem Based Learning. The subject of this research is student of class X IPA 1 SMA Negeri 2 Pekanbaru in academic years 2017/2018, which amounted to 36 students, consist of 17 boys and 19 girls. The research consist of two cycles, each cycle has four stages, which are planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The instruments of data collection in this research were observation sheets and students mathematic tests. The observation sheets were analyzed in qualitative desciptive, while the students mathematic tests were analyzed in quantitative descriptive. The qualitative descriptive showed an improvement of learning process prior to the action on the first and second cycle. Most of students were very confidenced and actived in learning process, such as while they were finished mathemathic’s problems that given, presenting the result of problems and giving the conclusion of learning. The results of this study indicate the number of students who reached Minimum Mastery Criteria of knowledge increase from basic score to quiz-I and quiz-II. The results of this research showed an increasing number of students learning mathematics about knowledge of the basic score (16,7%) to the first quiz (44,4%) to the second quiz (55,6%). For the skills of basic score the first quiz (30,6%) to the second quiz (50%), thus it can be concluded that the application of Problem Based Learning can improve learning process and increase mathematics achievement from the students at class X IPA 1 SMA Negeri 2 Pekanbaru in academic years 2017/2018 for the subject rational and irrational inequalities and linear equations of three variables.Key Words: Students’ Mathematic Achievement, Problem Based Learning, Class Action Research

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to improve the learning process and improve the student’s mathematic achievement through the implementation of cooperative learning model of numbered heads together. The research is the Classroom Action Research with two cycles. The research was conducted in studentof grade X MA Muhammadiyah BerTI Pekanbaru in the even semester of the 2015/2016 academic year with the subject of as many as 22 students. The research instrument are consists of learning devices and instrument data collectors. Learning device are consists of the Syllabus, Lesson plan and Student work sheet. The instrument data collector consists of the observation sheet and math test. Technique of data analysis is analysis of narrative descriptive and analysis of statistical descriptive. The result of the research show that the learning process has improved and the student’s mathematic achievement has improved after applying the cooperative learning model of numbered heads together. The learning result in the first cycle found that the percentage of student who achieve KKM is 59,1 and the second cycle was 77,3%  which increased the percentage of prior actions that only 45,5%. Therefore, The cooperative learning model of numbered heads together can be used as an alternative in learning.                                                                                                                         Key Words: Numbered Heads Together, Cooperative Learning, students learning mathematic outcomes

Abstract

Abstract: This research was based on the students achievement in learning mathematics especially grade VIII-7 SMP Negeri 8 Pekanbaru the Mastery Minimum Criteria with percentage of  14,6% on the test  about Tribe Factorization Algebra. This research is a class action research. This research aims to improve learning result in mathematics in grade by implementation of  ARCS Motivation  Strategy  in Cooperative Learning Model STAD. ARCS Strategy is a strategy that was developed based on a review of the motivation with the aim to enable students to learn. This study aims to determine the completeness of student learning, attention , relevance of teaching materials to students' needs , confidence and satisfaction of the students on the material equation of a straight line. The subject of this research were the students in the class VIII-7 SMP Negeri 8 Pekanbaru that consist of 16 boys and 26 girls at the first semester of academic year 2016/2017. The instruments of data collection in this research were observation sheets and student’s mathematic tests. The observation sheets were analyzed in statistic desciptive. The results of this research showed an increasing number of students learning mathematic from the basic score with percentage 14,6% to 47,6% on the first test and 78,5% on second test. The frequency distribution  analysis as well showed an improvement student achievement are increasing the number of student who received higher criteria on the first test and second test compared the number of student who received higher criteria on the basic score. On the low criteria, the number of student at  interval 21–40 descreased from basic score to the first test and second test. Furtehrmore, on the higher criteria, the number of student at interval 81-100 increased from basic score to first test with 4 students into 10 students, then have increased on the second test with 23 students. Based on the result of this research could be concluded that the implementation of ARCS Motivation Strategy in Cooperative Learning Model STAD)  improve the student’s achievement of learning mathematic in grade VIII-7 SMP Negeri 8 Pekanbaru  in the first  semester academic years 2016/2017.

Abstract

Abstract: The background of this study is the restrict of mathematics learning instruments as supporting learning referring to 2013 Curriculum. This study aimed to develop mathematics learning instruments with problem based learning’s model on cubes and cuboids for 8th grade SMP/MTs. Learning instruments in this study are syllabus, lesson plans, and student worksheet. This study method used is 4D model by Thiagarajan, Dorothy S. Semmel, and Melvyn I. Semmel that consist of define, design, development, and disseminate, but the study was limited only to development step. Based on the data analysis, it can be conclude that mathematics learning instruments is very valid with mean score of syllabus is 4,53, mean score of lesson plans is 4,26, and mean score of student worksheet is 4,21. This student worksheet has also reached the practical qualification with mean percentage of student responses is 97,33 on a small test group.Keyword: Mathematics Learning Instrument, Problem Based Learning, Research and Development.

Abstract

Abstract: This research to improve the learning process and the student’s mathematical understanding skill by implementation Discovery Learning (DL) model. The type of this research is Classroom Action Research with two cycles. The subjects of this research were students of class XI MIA 1 SMA Babussalam Pekanbaru. This study was conducted in the even semester of academic year 2018/2019. The research instruments used are learning material (Syllabus, Lesson Plan, and Student Worksheet) and instrument for collecting data (Observation Sheets and Mathematical Understanding Tests). The observation sheets were used to find out the data of students and teacher activity during learning process which would analyzed qualitatively, and mathematical understanding test were used to collect the student’s mathematical understanding skill outcomes which would analyzed quantitatively. Base on the analysis of the observation sheets showed that implementation of learning process in 2nd cycle was improved when compared to 1st cycle. Result of the test indicates that the student’s learning achievement for the first is 52,08 improved in 1st cycle to 68,75 and improved to 84,26 in 2nd cycle. The improvement of student’s learning achivement founded for each indicator of mahematical understanding skill: (1) redefine the concept; (2) provide examples and not examples the concept; (3)use, utilize, choose certain procedures or operations; and (4) apply problem solving algorithms or algorithms. Based on the result above, it can be concluded that the implementation of Discovery Learning model approach can improve the learning process and the student’s mathematical understanding skill outcomes at class XI MIA 1 SMA Babussalam Pekanbaru.Key Words: Mathematical Understanding Skill, Discovery Learning Model, Classroom Action Research

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to produce learning devices by discovery learning model using cultural context of Malay on Sequence and Series material of class XI. The study model used is 4-D that consist of define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research instrument used is validity device and practicality device. The validity device is a validation sheets to assess the feasibility learning devices form of syllabus, lesson plan (RPP), and student worksheets (LKPD). The practicality device is practically sheets towards use student worksheets. The learning devices developed are validated by three validators. The research trials were conducted in SMAN 15 Pekanbaru which is tested in a small group and large group. Based on the data analysis, it can be conclude that the average value for syllabus, lesson plan, dan student worksheets are 3.61; 3.53; and 3.54 that are in very valid category. The student worksheets valued as very practical with mean score for small group and large group testing are 3.45 and 3.39 that are in very practical category. This Research and Deveplopment aims to produce learning devices by discovery learning model using cultural context of Malay on Sequence and Series material of class XI in high school consist of valid for syllabus and lesson plan, and then valid too practical for student worksheets.Key Words: Learning Devices, Discovery Learning Model, Cultural Contex of Melayu, Development Research, 4-D Model

Abstract

Abstract: This research is a class action research which aims to improve learning process and increase the mathematics learning outcomes by implying Problem Based Learning model. Subjects of this research are the students of grade VIII5 SMPN 16 Pekanbaru in the academic year 2016/2017. Total number of participant are 44, consisting of 22 male students and 22 female students with heterogeneous academic achievement. This research have two cycles, each have four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Each cycles ended by daily examination (UH). The data collected by observation and test. The data analised by narative descriptive and statistical descriptive. The data was obtained from the observation sheets shows that teacher and students’ activities are improved after the model implemented. Students are mostly active in the learning process with the implementation of PBL, started from responding the problems presented in the early activity, discuss in groups to gain information, process the information to create a plan and solve the problems, arrange the report of discussion, presenting their works, respond to other groups’ presentation, and provide conclusions. From the data of students’ evaluation test, shows that the percentage of students who passed KKM increased from the basic score before action (38, 63%) to UH I (59,09%). Students learning outcomes also increased from UH I to UH II (68,18%). Based on the explanation above the implementation of Problem Based Learning model can improve the learning process and increase the mathematics learning outcomes for students of grade VIII5 SMP Negeri 16 Pekanbaru on odd semester of 2016/2017, of the basic competence (1.3) Understanding relations and functions. (1.4) Determine the value of functions, and (1.5) Sketching graphs of simple algebraic functions on the Cartesian coordinate plane.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to improve the learning process and improve the student’s mathematic achievement through the implementation of activity quick on the draw in order cooperative learning cooperative. The research is the Classroom Action Research with two cycles. The research was conducted in class VIIc of 5 Junior High School Rengat Barat the odd semester of the 2016/2017 academic year with the subject of as many as 20 students. The research instrument are consists of learning devices and instrument data collectors. Learning device are consists of the Syllabus, Lesson plan, Student worksheet, and Card Question. The instrument data collector consists of the observation sheet and math test. Technique of data analysis is analysis of narrative descriptive and analysis of statistical descriptive. The result of the research show that the learning process has improved and the student’s mathematic achievement has improved after applying activity quick on the draw in order  cooperative learning. The percentage of students who achieve minimum mastery before the action is as much as 15% and at first cycle as much as 40% and at second cycle as much as 60%. Abstract

The subject of this research is student of class VIII5 SMPN 6 Pekanbaru in academic years 2016/2017, which amounted to 33 students, consist of 13 boys and 20 girls. The research consist of two cycles, each cycle has four stages, which are planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The instruments of data collection in this research were observation sheets and students Mathematic tests. The observation sheets were analyzed in qualitative desciptive, while the students’ Mathematic tests were analyzed in quantitative descriptive. The qualitative descriptive showed an improvement of learning process prior to the action on the first and second cycle. Most of students were very confidenced  and  actived in learning process, such as while they were finished mathemathic’s problems that given,  presenting the result of  problems and giving the conclusion of learning. Number of students that reach Minimum Mastery Criteria increase from basic score to first test I and II. The results of this research showed an increasing number of students learning mathematics about knowledge of the basic score (48,48%) to the first test (72,73%)  to the second test II (87,88%). For the skills of basic score (54,55%) to the first test (72,73%) to the second test (84,85%), for the attitude of the basic score (93,94%) for the first cycle (96,97 %) to the second cycle (100%). Results of this research indicates that appication of the learning model of Problem Based Learning can improve learning process and increase mathematics achievement from the students at class VIII5 SMPN 6 Pekanbaru in academic years 2016/2017 for the subject matter algebra operations and functions.

Abstract

Abstract: This research was based on the low student’s achievement in mathematics in grade VIIa of SMP An Namiroh Pekanbaru. From data of daily students was obtained the percentage of students who got the Mastery Minimum Criteria were 43,3% for main subject Integers and 13,3% for subject Algebra. This research is a class action research. This research aims to improve the learning process and improve learning result in mathematics by implementation of cooperative learning Think Pair Square (TPS) approach. The subject of this research were the students in the class VIIa of SMP An Namiroh Pekanbaru at the even semester of academic year 2016/2017 that consist of 14 boys and 15 girls. The instruments of data collection in this research were observation sheets and student’s mathematic tests. The observation sheets were analyzed in desciptive narative to see the process of activities learning process that the implementation wasn’t based on plan that was made so it can be arranged the improvemen plan for second cycles while the student’s mathematic tests were analyzed in statistic desciptive. The result of this research showed an improvement of learning process and student’s achievement of learning mathematic prior to the action on the first and second cycles. The students have be seriously in doing students worksheets by develop their own capability and every member of group took an active part in doing students worksheets. The students also were confident if being showed to do the presentation and being more active in giving idea for group who did the presentation. From the analysis of getting the Mastery Minimum Criteria showed an improvement student’s achievement from the basic score with percentage 34,5% to the first test with percentage 41,4% to second test with percentage 54%. Based on the result of this research could be concluded that the implementation of cooperative learning Think Pair Square (TPS) Approach can improve the learning process and improve the student’s achievement of learning mathematic in grade VIIa of SMP An Namiroh Pekanbaru at the even semester of academic year 2016/2017.Key Words : Students Math Achievement, Cooperative Learning Think Pair Square Approach, Clasroom Action Research.
