Abstract

Social Studies Education (IPS) plays an important role in shaping students' character, particularly in developing social awareness. IPS learning not only teaches social knowledge but also actively engages students to understand and respond to existing social issues. One of the major challenges in IPS education is connecting theory with the reality of students' lives, which is often perceived as too abstract. Therefore, an interactive learning approach is essential to increase student engagement, develop critical thinking skills, and build empathy. Learning that emphasizes interactivity, such as group discussions, role-playing, and the use of digital media, can help students apply knowledge in everyday life and strengthen their social awareness. Through literature review, this study aims to explore interactive methods in IPS learning that can enhance students' social awareness. The results show that interaction-based learning can improve student participation, social skills, and understanding of existing social issues, which in turn supports the development of a more socially conscious student character.

Abstract

Content Acne is a facial disease that often occurs. Acne treatment can be done using antibiotics, but if used excessively it can cause resistance so alternative treatment is needed using natural ingredients. One natural ingredient that has high potential as an antibacterial is sedge grass tubers (Cyperus rotundus L.). Nut grass tubers are applied in a gel preparation to make it easier to use. This research aims to determine the formulation and test the antibacterial activity of the ethanol extract gel of sedge grass tubers against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This research uses the well diffusion method and the diameter of the inhibition zone. The physical properties of the gel preparation (organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, spreadability and stickiness) as well as antibacterial activity tests were also carried out. Data were analyzed using One Way ANOVA. The research results showed that the ethanol extract gel of sedge grass tubers at extract concentrations of 5%, 10% and 15% had good organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, adhesion and spreadability of the gel preparation. The ethanol extract gel of sedge grass tubers has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.   Keywords:          gel, nut grass tuber, antibacterial, Staphylococcus aureus   Abstrak Jerawat merupakan penyakit wajah yang sering terjadi. Data dianalisis menggunakan One Way ANOVA.

Abstract

Sweeteners are chemical compounds that are widely added and used in various processed food and beverage products, one of which is jam. Jam is a semi-solid food made from fruit or other processed products. Sweeteners consist of natural sweeteners and artificial sweeteners. Cyclamate is one of the artificial sweeteners that is often used in society because it has a sweetness intensity 30 times that of pure sugar. Excessive use of cyclamate can cause negative effects on health such as cancer (carcinogenic), nerve disorders, impaired liver function, stomach irritation and changes in cell function. The maximum limit for using cyclamate in jam according to SNI 01-0222-1995 is 2 g/kg. This study aims to identify and determine the levels of cyclamate in jam circulating in BTP Makassar housing. The type of research used is laboratory observation with simple random sampling technique. This research was conducted qualitatively (TLC and precipitation method) and quantitatively (uv-vis spectrophotometric method). The results of this study indicated that all negative samples contained cyclamate with a standard Rf value of 0.875 for cyclamate.

Abstract

Abstract: Stress can affect various aspects of life, including physical, psychological and social changes. Ageing and declining health are often associated with mental health conditions such as depression. Increasing physical activity can help reduce stress and improve mental health, especially depression. Aerobic exercise can be beneficial for the elderly, as long as it has the right dosage and design. Aerobic exercise to improve the physical fitness of the elderly uses low-impact exercise. This study aims to determine the influence of exercise on the level of stress of the elderly in the nursing home of Tresna Werdha Abdi Binjai. Pre-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest design. Exercise is carried out for 8 weeks with an exercise duration of around 30 minutes, 3-5 times/week. Sampling was taken using the total sampling method. The data collection technique used the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) questionnaire, which was taken before and after the exercise intervention. Based on the Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test output, it is known as a value of p=0.000 (p = 0.005), so it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results after the exercise intervention. There is an influence of low-impact exercise on the stress level of the elderly at the Tresna Werdha ABDI Binjai Nursing Home.

Abstract

Biogas production from vegetable waste offers a practical pathway for reducing organic residues and supporting small-scale renewable energy systems. This study investigates the influence of EM4 inoculum on gas accumulation and pH dynamics during an 8-day batch fermentation of lettuce and cabbage waste. Four reactors were prepared containing 200 g vegetable waste and 200 mL water with or without 30 g EM4. Gas accumulation was quantified by balloon circumference at day 2, day 4, day 6 and day 8 and converted to volume using geometric calculations. Lettuce generated the highest peak volumes with maximum values exceeding 330 cm³ while cabbage produced less than 60 cm³ under comparable conditions. pH trajectories showed that cabbage plus water decreased from pH 7 to pH 6 whereas lettuce plus water increased from pH 7 to pH 8. Reactors containing EM4 stabilised at pH 6 throughout the fermentation indicating inoculum-supported buffering. These results demonstrate that substrate characteristics strongly influence early-stage gas formation and that EM4 moderates pH fluctuations even under uncontrolled ambient conditions. The findings provide initial evidence that lettuce is a more degradable feedstock than cabbage and emphasise pH regulation as a key requirement for improving methane-oriented biogas performance in simple batch systems.
