Abstract

This paper explores the critical elements contributing to the effectiveness of organizational training programs, particularly for police. Key factors include the relevance of training content to police job roles, the clarity and simplicity of the material, and the use of interactive methods such as simulations and role-playing. The research employs a quantitative approach using factor analysis. The respondents are police officers who have already undergone training, with 114 participants involved in the study. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS. The results emphasize the role of trainers, highlighting the importance of their subject matter expertise, continuous professional development, and adaptability to diverse learning styles. The research indicates that relevant and engaging training significantly enhances employee productivity, job satisfaction, and retention. By integrating these elements, organizations can design training programs that improve police performance and contribute to overall organizational success.

Abstract

The automatic light sensor switch commonly used in the Electrical Power Installation Engineering Department at SMK Negeri 1 Tonjong is a factory-manufactured sensor switch with a complex circuit design, which has led to a decline in student learning motivation. This issue becomes the main reason for conducting research on the development of an instructional model for electrical lighting installations using a TRIAC-based light sensor switch, specifically applied in smart building lighting systems. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE development model. The findings of the study are as follows: (1) The developed product was deemed suitable for use, with a Content Validity Index (CVI) score of 0.88 from media experts and a Percentage of Agreement (PA) of 88%, and a CVI score of 0.91 and PA of 91% from subject material experts; (2) Product testing results indicated a high level of effectiveness, as shown by the Independent Sample t-Test on the N-gain Score, yielding a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05; and (3) The reproducibility coefficient (Kr) and scalability coefficient (Ks) were 92% and 81.5%, respectively, indicating that the instructional model for electrical lighting installation using the TRIAC-based light sensor switch is highly practical .

Abstract

The teaching of Fundamentals of Electronics Engineering often faces challenges in bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application. A lack of interactive and contextual learning media hinders students’ comprehension of foundational concepts and diminishes their motivation to learn. This study addresses these challenges by developing a digital electronics trainer as an instructional tool to support the learning process. The trainer is designed and implemented to help students explore digital electronics concepts—specifically logic gates—through relevant problem-solving activities. The aim is to enhance students’ conceptual understanding and engagement. This research employs a Research and Development (R&D) approach, utilizing the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The results demonstrate the significant effectiveness of the digital electronics trainer in improving students’ cognitive abilities. An N-Gain score of 0.71 indicates a high level of cognitive improvement in the experimental group using the trainer, compared to the control group that relied on textbook-based learning.

Abstract

The Digital Center (DC) building at UNNES is a new building on the campus that currently lacks evacuation routes. Therefore, it is necessary to create an evacuation route plan in accordance with the Minister of Health Regulation Number 48 of 2016. Creating a manual evacuation route plan can be inefficient and prone to errors, especially for large buildings with complex interiors. To address this issue, learning techniques such as reinforcement learning (RL) are being used. In this study, Q-learning will be utilized to find the shortest path to the exit doors from 11 rooms on the first floor of the DC building. The study makes use of the floor plan data of the DC building, information about the location of the exit doors, and the distance required to reach them. The results of the study demonstrate that Qlearning successfully identifies the shortest evacuation routes for the first-floor DC building. The routes generated by Q-learning are identical to the manually created shortest paths. Even when additional obstacles are introduced into the environment, Q-learning is still able to find the shortest routes. On average, the number of episodes required for convergence in both environments is less than 1000 episodes, and the average computation time needed for both environments is 0.54 seconds and 0.76 seconds, respectively.

Abstract

Advances in information and communication technology have changed the paradigm in the agricultural sector, especially in the application of the Internet of Things (IoT). An IoT-based monitoring system is an innovative step as there is an increasing need for technology in the agricultural sector and the development of the world of education. SMK Negeri 3 Salatiga, majoring in agribusiness, has great potential in hydroponic agriculture of lettuce plants, but there is no use of IoT technology in it. Hydroponic learning activities at SMK Negeri 3 Salatiga still use manual hydroponic learning media, which results in the competence possessed by teachers and students not being competent in IoT technology, especially its application to hydroponics. Meanwhile, if adjusted to learning outcomes, students should be able to fertilize plants in a modern way. The purpose of this study is to develop and implement hydroponic monitoring learning media based on Internet of Things technology. The application of learning media aims to improve the understanding or competence of teachers and students at SMK Negeri 3 Salatiga. The research methods used are Research and Development with the ADDIE development model, as well as one group pre-test and post-test design research design with 31 samples as a competency improvement test. This study resulted in 26 participants out of 31 participants experiencing an increase in competency in the results of the post-exam exam. So, it can be concluded that there is an increase in the competence of using hydroponic IoT by 83% among teachers and students.

Abstract

The rapid growth of digital technology has created significant opportunities for innovation in educational practices, including the use of Android-based e-modules as self-directed learning media. In the context of Vocational Education, particularly the Motorcycle Engineering expertise program, there is a strong need for interactive learning materials that can enhance the conceptual understanding and cognitive abilities of students. This study aims to develop an Android-based interactive e-module using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model for the topic of motorcycle workshop management elements, and to examine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The research employed the ADDIE research and development model with participation from media experts, material experts, teachers, and Grade XI TSM students at SMK Cordova Margoyoso. Research instruments included expert validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and pre-test and post-test assessments. The findings indicate that the e-module is valid, with a media expert validation score of 3.7 (91%) and a material expert score of 3.6 (91%). The e-module was also considered practical based on student evaluations. In addition, it proved effective in improving cognitive abilities, as shown by an N-Gain score of 64% (moderately effective category) and a T-test significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. In conclusion, the Android-based interactive e-module developed using the PBL model meets the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness as a learning medium.
