Abstract

In the current digital era, the need for digital learning resources in education is very important and urgent to develop. It includes developing digital disaster learning resources for prospective elementary school teachers. This article will discuss SWOT analysis (Strengths [S], Weaknesses [W], Opportunities [O], Threats [T]) as an instrument for conducting a needs analysis to develop digital disaster learning resources for prospective elementary school teachers. This research uses a literature study method, with research implementation stages consisting of (a) collecting reference sources, (b) verifying literature sources, and (c) conceptualization. From the research stages that have been carried out, the needs analysis instrument for developing digital disaster learning resources for prospective elementary school teachers can be classified into four forms, namely strength analysis (S) consisting of five question items, weakness analysis (W) consisting of three question items, opportunity analysis (O) consists of two question items, and threat analysis (T) consists of two question items. Based on this, it is necessary to carry out a SWOT analysis to prepare an analysis instrument for developing digital disaster learning resources for prospective elementary school teachers. The recommendation from the results of this study is that the needs analysis instrument using SWOT analysis can be adapted for use in needs analysis instruments for developing media and other learning resources.

Abstract

It cannot be denied that the performance of teachers will greatly influence the success of schools in achieving its goals. This descriptive research is intended to discuss: (1) the principals' view on the performance of public elementary school teachers in Pekanbaru, Riau, Indonesia; (2) principals' expectations for the teachers' performance in the future; and (3) challenges faced by principals to improve teachers' performance in the future. This descriptive quantitative research was carried out at public elementary schools in Pekanbaru in May 2019 to October 2019. By using a proportional random sampling technique, 66 of 191 elementary school principals spread across 12 districts in Pekanbaru were selected as the sample. The questionnaire addressed to the principal was used as an instrument which was then analyzed through descriptive statistical analysis. In the end, it can be concluded that the best performance of teachers is in implementing the learning process. However, their performance in carrying out additional tasks in schools was rated by principals as the lowest average of all categories. The principals' expectations of the teachers' performance in the future are related to improving teacher competencies as well as improving the ability to utilize technology and equipment available at school. While the challenges faced, however, are related to the lack of willingness of teachers to continue their education and limited funds to participate in various training.

Abstract

Problem-Based Learning (PBL) has emerged as a crucial pedagogical approach for fostering students' critical and creative thinking skills. However, its implementation often faces challenges, such as limited resources, insufficient teacher training, and the complexity of designing meaningful problem scenarios. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) framework to examine the application of PBL in enhancing students' critical thinking skills. An initial search yielded 342 articles, which were screened through title and abstract review, followed by full-text assessment based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. After a rigorous selection process, 9 articles that met the criteria were finally analyzed in detail. The review revealed that the majority of research on PBL and critical thinking was conducted in Indonesian high school contexts. Findings consistently indicated that PBL significantly improves students' critical thinking, creative thinking, and engagement in learning activities. Studies demonstrated that when PBL is effectively integrated, students exhibit stronger analytical abilities, enhanced problem-solving skills, and increased active participation. These findings underscore the importance of integrating PBL as a core teaching methodology, especially in preparing students to meet the complex demands of a globalized and interconnected world. Despite implementation challenges, PBL offers significant potential to reshape traditional education and foster future-ready learners equipped with essential higher-order thinking skills encourage motivation and achieve optimal learning outcomes.

Abstract

Covid-19 Pandemic had impacts on the learning system in Indonesia, especially in Pekanbaru. It changes the system into online learning. Consequently, the Indonesian government should provide facilitation of the internet and other services in order to achieve successful learning. Hence, this paper provides a description of the influence that appeared from the learning system implemented on University students’ digital literacy. Digital literacy is someone’s ability to comprehend information as a learning source. The research uses a survey method in the form of a questionnaire and tests through SPSS. The result indicates that based on the two top universities in Pekanbaru by using stratified random sampling, there is no influence of online learning implementation for the two classes. Meanwhile, there is an influence for the four classes, which consisted of two classes that indicate positive influence and two classes that indicate negative influence. Nevertheless, preparation applied by the lecturer in online learning should be more arranged. It is because the biggest influence comes from outside.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of research trends in learning and assessment practices in Indonesia. A total of 274 documents were initially collected, from which 100 articles that met the predetermined criteria were selected for in-depth analysis. The data reveals a distribution of research across 34 provinces, with 20 provinces being represented in the final sample. The findings indicate a predominant focus on media-based approaches in reading instruction, reflecting a growing interest in integrating media into learning strategies. In terms of assessment, the use of combined or hybrid assessment methods emerges as the most common practice, suggesting an effort to capture a more holistic understanding of student performance. Despite these developments, the overall impact of the research remains limited, as most studies are still conducted on a local scale and have not significantly influenced national educational policy or practice. This highlights the need for broader dissemination and application of research findings to enhance their relevance and utility at the national level. Strengthening the connection between educational research and practice is essential for advancing the quality of learning and assessment in Indonesia.
