Abstract

Banyak siswa merasa kurang percaya diri ketika dihadapkan pada materi sains yang dirasa rumit dan menantang. Mereka beranggapan bahwa kecerdasan mereka tidak cukup atau merasa takut melakukan kesalahan, sehingga malas untuk terlibat aktif dalam proses belajar. Selain itu, rendahnya motivasi belajar siswa juga memengaruhi mereka dalam pembelajaran sains. Sebagian besar siswa belajar bukan karena dorongan dari dalam diri siswa itu sendiri, tetapi sekadar untuk mendapatkan nilai baik atau mengikuti tuntutan sekolah, sehingga minat sejati terhadap pembelajaran sains pun tidak maksimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat minat belajar sains siswa SMA Negeri 3 Woja berdasarkan hasil pengisian angket skala Likert. Sebanyak 30 siswa dijadikan responden dalam penelitian ini dan diminta menjawab 25 pernyataan terkait minat mereka terhadap pembelajaran sains. Skor total yang diperoleh masing-masing responden berkisar antara 70 hingga 95, dengan rata-rata skor sebesar 76,63. Berdasarkan kategori penilaian, rata-rata tersebut berada dalam kategori “Cukup”. Hasil klasifikasi menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 9 siswa (30%) berada dalam kategori minat “Tinggi”, 17 siswa (56,7%) dalam kategori “Cukup”, dan 4 siswa (13,3%) dalam kategori “Rendah”. Tidak terdapat siswa yang memiliki minat sangat rendah. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa memiliki minat sedang terhadap sains, sementara hanya sebagian kecil yang menunjukkan minat rendah. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan upaya untuk meningkatkan minat belajar, seperti melalui penerapan metode pembelajaran kontekstual, penggunaan media digital, serta pendekatan berbasis inkuiri. Penelitian ini diharapkan menjadi acuan bagi guru dan sekolah dalam merancang strategi pembelajaran yang dapat memotivasi siswa untuk lebih tertarik dan aktif dalam mempelajari sains.

Abstract

The validation process carried out to determine the quality of the software is an understanding of software testing. Testing is intended to find out application output errors that result in the system not running properly. There are 4 types of Black Box testing including Pairwise Testing, Boundary Value Analysis, Equivalence Partitioning, and Error Guessing techniques. This technique has advantages and disadvantages according to the needs of the application being tested. The Equivalence Partitioning technique was chosen as a Black box test because it is in accordance with the needs of the web-based Cooperative Information System application, in this test is divided into 2 test ranges to be valid and invalid. Beginning with identifying, testing system functions, establishing research data and archives, designing experimental cases and testing, and documenting research results and research conclusions. The results of testing, that this software runs according to what has been tested. However, the test is only carried out with a number of sample forms, for the time being this device has no problems and runs well.

Abstract

Penyakit tidak menular (PTM) merupakan penyakit yang tidak dapat ditularkan dari orang ke orang dan bersifat kronis. Hal ini diakibatkan minimnya aktivitas fisik, peningkatan gula darah dan lemak darah. Wanita mempunyai risiko lebih besar mengalami hipertensi, diabetes, dan asam urat. Diperlukan tindakan menggerakkan masyarakat menuju hidup sehat melalui perubahan gaya hidup. Tujuan pemeriksaan kesehatan ini sebagai upaya pencegahan PTM bagi Ibu-Ibu PKK Dusun Nglarang RT 06, Tlogoadi, Mlati, Sleman. Kegiatan ini meliputi pemeriksaan kesehatan dan edukasi hasil pemeriksaan kesehatan. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat telah berjalan baik. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan 30 orang ibu-ibu PKK telah melakukan pemeriksaan kesehatan berupa tekanan darah, gula darah sewaktu, dan asam urat. Kadar Gula Darah Sewaktu (GDS) dalam batas normal sebanyak 83,33%. Hasil pemeriksaan asam urat diperoleh batas normal adalah 76,67%, sedangkan untuk data hipertensi tingkat 2 termasuk tinggi yaitu 36,67%. Saran bagi kegiatan selanjutnya berupa pendampingan bagi lansia yang bermasalah sehingga dapat meningkatkan derajat kesehatan bagi lansia.

Abstract

Understanding information from a foreign language especially English is crucial for foreign language learners. One of the ways to understand the information is by active reading comprehension. Reading comprehension and reading habits are two elements of learning a language. Reading comprehension is the basic skill that is completed by the other skills. The goal of this research is to determine the relationship between students' reading habits and students' ability in reading comprehension in the second semester at Muhammadiyah University of East Kalimantan. In this quantitative research with correlational research, the researcher applied questionnaires to assemble the data. The questionnaire measures students' reading habits and the test measures students' reading comprehension. Based on the statistical data, the population would be around 2,362 students, and the sampling technique that would be used is a simple random sampling technique. Based on the table size sample, with a margin of error of 5%, it is gained that the total sample would be 330 students. The result of the study was the positive and medium relationship between these variables namely reading comprehension and reading habits. This research hopefully can be one of the references for identifying the literacy level of university students particularly in reading English texts

Abstract

This study was to investigate the correlation between students’ cognitive reading strategies and students’ reading comprehension. The population in this study were overall second-semester students of UMKT from all undergraduate faculty. The total population in the study was 2,362 students. The sampling that was chosen in this study was simple random sampling by selecting representative respondents from each study program. By using a table of sampling size with a confidence level of 95% (margin of error 0.05%), it was found that from N= 2362 total population, the total sample was 428 students. The conducting data found that there was a significant relationship (sign. 0.01) between cognitive strategy and reading comprehension among students at UMKT. It was proved from the result that the significant value was under the p-value (0.05). However, the level of correlation was small, it was because some respondents stated that they didn’t use their mother tongue or read aloud when they got a difficult text, and they used translator apps to get an instant way of understanding the texts. The suggestion for the next researchers and practitioners such as teachers is to use a cognitive strategy to understand English rather than using an instant way likewise using the application or asking someone else to get the answer or comprehension. In other words, cognitive strategies involve active engagement with the activity, which aids in comprehension meanwhile Reading comprehension is a cognitive ability that provides the ability to synchronize text information with background knowledge

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana kemampuan numerasi siswa menggunakan media pebelajaran berbasis animasi kartun. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitaif dengan jenis penelitian Pre-Eksperimental Design. Desain dalam penelitian ini menggunakan One Group Pretest postest Design. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 27 siswa kelas Tiga. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket berjenis Skala Likert untuk mengetahui motivasi belajar siswa sedangkan tes digunakan untuk mengukur tingat kemampuan numerasi siswa menggunakan media pembelajaran berbasis animasi kartun. Teknik analisis data menggunakan statistic deskriptif dan statistik inferensial dengan program SPSS version 29.0 for windows. Program tersebut dilakukan untuk menganalisis uji Paired Sample t Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa motivasi belajar siswa menggunakan media pembelajaran berbasis animasi kartun berada pada kategori baik. Uji hipotesis dilakukan menggunakan uji Praired Sample t Test. Hasil menunjukan nilai signifikasi yang diperoleh adalah kurang dari 0,001 atau <0,001. Hal ini berarti nilai signifikasin lebih rendah dari nilai taraf signifikansi yang ditentukan yaitu 0,05.  Nilai Two-Sided p 0,001 < 0,05. Berdasarkan hasil analisis tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa adanya perbedaan yang signifikan kemampuan numerasi siswa sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan media pembelajaran berbasis animasi kartun.

Abstract

In today’s digital era, students are constantly seeking new ways to improve their academic writing, especially in learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL). One tool gaining attention nowadays is DeepSeek, an AI-powered writing assistant that helps students organize ideas, correct grammar, and improve writing quality. While tools like Grammarly and ChatGPT have been widely researched, studies on students’ views of DeepSeek are still limited. This research explores students’ perspectives on using DeepSeek to improve their English writing skills. A mixed-methods approach was used, involving 55 second-semester English Education students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur who completed a questionnaire. Five students were then selected for in-depth interviews. The results show that students generally view DeepSeek as a helpful and easy-to-use tool that increases their confidence and motivation in writing. Many students reported improvements in grammar and spelling checks. However, some students raised concerns about becoming too dependent on AI and noted that DeepSeek sometimes lacks context in its corrections. The study implies that AI tools like DeepSeek can be valuable for supporting writing development in EFL learners. Still, students should be guided to use these tools wisely as assistance, not as a replacement for their thinking. A key limitation of this study is its small and localized sample, which may not reflect broader educational settings. Future research with larger and more diverse participants is recommended to better understand the wider impact of AI writing tools.

Abstract

In the current digital era, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into education has significantly reshaped how students access and engage with learning materials. Among various innovations, AI-powered tools such as Meta AI have gained attention for their potential to assist students in developing essential language skills, particularly in English writing. As writing remains a fundamental yet challenging aspect of language learning, it is important to understand how students perceive the role of AI tools in supporting their academic progress. This study investigates high school students’ perceptions of Meta AI as an accessible and affordable platform for improving their English writing skills. Grounded in the context of the growing presence of AI in education, the study examines three core dimensions: accessibility, affordability, and perceived effectiveness in writing development. A quantitative descriptive method was used, employing a structured questionnaire administered to 78 vocational high school students in Samarinda, Indonesia. The findings indicate that most students find Meta AI easy to access and use, particularly across commonly used devices and in both school and home settings. Students also perceive the platform as cost-effective, reporting no need for financial investment or expensive equipment. In terms of writing support, students agree that Meta AI helps improve grammar, expand vocabulary, and organize ideas more clearly. However, some challenges were identified, such as limited functionality under slow internet conditions and mixed perceptions when comparing Meta AI to paid writing tools. This study suggests that Meta AI holds promise as a democratizing tool in English writing instruction, especially in resource-limited educational environments. The results underscore the importance of improving digital infrastructure and developing strategies to enhance user engagement for long-term learning benefits.

Abstract

English speaking skills are fundamental for success in the global era, yet many students face significant challenges in developing these abilities, particularly due to anxiety, limited vocabulary, and uninspiring instructional methods. This study explores students’ perceptions of using procedural texts as a strategy to improve their English-speaking fluency. Procedural texts, which provide structured and systematic language patterns, are believed to enhance students’ ability to articulate ideas coherently while reducing speaking anxiety. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data will be collected through semi-structured interviews and classroom observations involving six vocational high school students majoring in automotive engineering, who have been selected by gathering students with the highest and lowest English scores from each class. From each of the three classes, two students are chosen, one with the highest and one with the lowest score, resulting in six participants. Each of the Thematic analyses was used to identify recurring patterns in students' experiences and viewpoints. This study holds significance as it provides empirical insights into alternative pedagogical approaches aimed at addressing common challenges to speaking proficiency among vocational students, an often-underrepresented population in second language acquisition research. The implications of the study suggest that integrating procedural texts into English instruction can effectively improve speaking fluency and reduce anxiety, particularly for students in vocational settings. However, the study's limitations, including the small sample size and its focus on a specific group of students from a single vocational field, suggest the need for further research with larger and more diverse samples to explore the broader applicability and long-term effects of procedural text-based instruction.
