Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of human capital development on poverty levels in Purworejo Regency during the 2019-2023 period. The main focus is to identify variables related to poverty and provide human capital-based policy recommendations. This research uses econometric models, namely the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) and Seemingly Unrelated Regression (SUR) models. The dependent variable analyzed is the poverty rate, while the independent variables include Mean Years of Schooling (MYS), Expected Years of Schooling (EYS), Life Expectancy Rate (LER), and Per Capita Expenditure (PCE). The findings reveal significant correlations between all human capital variables and poverty reduction. The health dimension, measured by LER, showed the strongest impact on poverty reduction. The SUR model shows a 4.01% improvement in efficiency compared to the OLS model. Poverty alleviation policies should focus on strengthening the healthcare system, improving educational access, and empowering the economy, with direct interventions in healthcare and education. This study stands out for its use of the SUR model to analyze the simultaneous effects of human capital variables on poverty, addressing the limitations of previous studies that used the OLS model.

Abstract

This study examines the role of waste banks in enhancing the economic value of household waste while promoting environmental sustainability. Focusing on the waste bank implemented in Susukan Siroto, East Ungaran District, Semarang Regency, Indonesia, the research evaluates its impact on the community's waste management practices and economic potential. The descriptive qualitative method was employed, involving interviews with 30 participants from the Family Empowerment and Welfare Group. Findings reveal that waste banks effectively increase awareness about waste sorting and recycling. Through systematic waste management, including sorting and depositing waste, communities gained both financial benefits and environmental improvements. Data from two implementation phases (June and August 2024) show a significant increase in waste deposits and financial returns for participants. Inorganic waste, such as plastic bottles, used cooking oil, and boxes, were transformed into valuable commodities, demonstrating the circular economy concept. The study highlights the importance of community involvement and education in achieving sustainable waste management. Waste banks not only reduce waste volume at landfills but also contribute to economic resilience, environmental conservation, and social harmony. The findings suggest that waste banks serve as a practical model for waste valorization, aligning with sustainable development goals.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of economic growth, minimum wage, unemployment, and the Human Development Index on income distribution inequality in 6 provinces in Sulawesi during the period 2013-2023. This study uses quantitative analysis with the panel data regression analysis method using the Random Effect Model (REM). The data for this research is secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency of Indonesia. The research results show that simultaneously, independent variables have a significant effect on the dependent variable. However, partially, economic growth and the minimum wage have a negative and significant effect on income distribution inequality, while unemployment and the human development index do not affect income distribution inequality. The results of the coefficient of determination test show that the independent variables explain 49% of their influence on the income inequality variable, while the remaining 51% is explained outside the variables.

Abstract

The greater the amount of savings than the loan amount in banking shows that problems on non-performing loan (NPL). The objectives of this study was: to analyze the efficiency of the intermediation function of financial institutions (banking), and the impact of efficiency of financial institution intermediation function to consumer surplus in the fund market. Partial Adjustment Model (PAM) were used to analyze efficiency and consumer surplus using panel data 2000 – 2016. The result showed that the efficiency of the financial institution intermediary function influenced the size of the consumer surplus in the fund market. Therefore, that consumer surplus in the fund market was influenced by the performance of financial institutions. This consumer surplus is of the lack of fund group (deficit unit) due to equilibrium change in fund market. To anticipate future funding needs, it is necessary to conduct a study of the consumer surplus of funds based on the type of use of financial lending in financial institutions in the economy.
