Abstract

Pada era globalisasi saat ini, kemampuan berbahasa asing, terutama bahasa Inggris, merupakan hal yang sangat penting untuk berkomunikasi secara efektif. Namun, banyak pelajar yang kesulitan memahami teks karena keterbatasan kosakata dan strategi pembelajaran yang tidak efektif. Hal serupa juga ditemukan dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris di Indonesia, di mana perbedaan struktur dan kosakata menjadi sebuah tantangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas permainan Bingo dalam peningkatan penguasaan kosakata pada siswa kelas V SDN Perumnas 1 Cibodas tahun ajaran 2023/2024. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan membandingkan dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok eksperimen yang menggunakan permainan Bingo dan kelompok kontrol yang menggunakan metode konvensional. Data diperoleh untuk pre-test dan post-test, serta angket untuk menilai persepsi siswa terhadap metode Bingo. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa permainan Bingo meningkatkan perolehan kosakata secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan metode konvensional. Uji statistik mengkonfirmasi perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua kelompok dan siswa menunjukkan bahwa Bingo adalah metode yang efektif dan menyenangkan. Kesimpulannya, Bingo tidak hanya meningkatkan kosa kata, tetapi juga memotivasi siswa dalam proses belajar. Oleh karena itu, penggunaan Bingo sebagai alat untuk mengajarkan kosakata di sekolah dasar sangat dianjurkan

Abstract

Social life always forms such diverse activities, it is because community groups form the same consciousness as several people so that they form social groups. This research will discuss the variations of language used by the transvestite group in the movie "Lovely Man". The focus of this research is to find out the use of waria language in the movie "Lovely Man" and analyze the meaning and meaning of the variety of languages used. The method used is a descriptive qualitative method. The method is used by researchers to analyze in depth the phenomenon that occurs. The results showed that there were 10 variations of jargon used by the transvestite group in the movie "Lovely Man". The variation of the jargon can occur due to the social and psychological conditions of the transvestites. Transvestites prefer to use non-standard vocabulary so that many basic words are changed by them into variations that are typical among transvestites.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze students’ error in using personal pronouns in writing descriptive text at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 14 Kabupaten Tangerang. The method of this research is descriptive analysis which is the writer analyze the errors made by students then classify the types of errors into four types as: omission, addition, misformation and misordering, after that calculated the students’ error using percentages formula. The result of the research findings shows errors in omission, addition, misformation and misordering. From the result of this research, it can be concluded that misformation is the most frequent error with of error made by students in using personal pronouns in writing descriptive text.

Di era digital, menumbuhkan minat membaca siswa menjadi tantangan yang semakin kompleks, diperlukan strategi yang efektif dalam lingkungan pendidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS) dalam meningkatkan minat baca siswa kelas V Sekolah Dasar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif, yang melibatkan observasi, pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan GLS di SDN Daru 1 belum memberikan dampak signifikan terhadap peningkatan minat dan kemampuan membaca siswa, yang ditunjukkan oleh penurunan skor rata-rata post-test sebesar -18,39 dibandingkan pre-test. Kurangnya variasi buku, keterbatasan fasilitas, serta rendahnya antusiasme siswa menjadi faktor yang menghambat efektivitas program ini. Kegiatan literasi yang diterapkan kurang menarik dan tidak sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa, sehingga tidak mampu meningkatkan keterampilan membaca secara optimal. Observasi mengungkap bahwa perencanaan dan pelaksanaan program masih perlu diperbaiki, terutama dalam penyediaan sumber daya dan metode pembelajaran yang lebih inovatif. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan perbaikan dalam perencanaan program, peningkatan dukungan dari berbagai pemangku kepentingan, serta adaptasi metode yang lebih menarik agar GLS dapat efektif dalam meningkatkan budaya membaca di kalangan siswa. Kesimpulannya, meskipun GLS memiliki potensi besar, implementasinya harus lebih terstruktur dan relevan dengan kebutuhan siswa untuk mencapai hasil yang optimal.

Abstract

The Scientific Work Week of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Syekh Yusuf Islamic University is an activity to strengthen student leadership and the habituation of writing scientific papers among students. Awareness of the culture of writing must always be strengthened, especially among the academic community so that they are not only consumers of information but also producers of thoughts, ideas and concepts that are expressed in written form and are effectively useful in society. This activity lasts for three days with various experts explaining the material according to their respective fields. The steps of this activity are such as leadership strengthening material by experts/organizational activists and material on writing scientific papers by lecturers who have an extraordinary track record of scientific work, then students are divided into several groups with the final assignment given the task of writing an article along with their respective supervisors. Post-activity mentoring for the article assignment is carried out by the post-activity supervisor until the results of the written work made by the group are published in an indexed national journal.

Abstract

A teacher could utilize certain methods at all levels for teaching a language. An effective teaching technique will immediately contribute to interest learners in the learning process and boost students' motivation and achievement in learning English. This research is done by mixing methods which are qualitative and quantitative (quasi experimental method). It is a scramble letter game, which is a way to develop words through cooperative and competitive activity. As a result, the researcher wants to know if the scramble letter game increases student achievement in English. The research results indicate the effectiveness of applying a scramble letter game while teaching English has increased in the experiment class with an average score of 30-80, but not in the control class with an average score of 70. Applying the scramble letter game as a technique while teaching English at SDN Perumnas 1 Cibodas in the Academic Year 2022/2023 is quite helpful. Based on the findings, it is advised that the scramble letter game be employed as an alternative and variation of their teaching and learning strategies.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the rhetorical structure of the finding and discussion chapters on the thesis and their problems. This study applied a mixed method. The sample of this research was 30 parts of the finding and discussion of the theses of Bengkulu University English Education postgraduate students who graduated from 2019 to 2020. This study used a checklist as a research instrument. The data obtained were analyzed qualitatively by applying several stages such as data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions, while quantitative data were obtained through SPSS. The results indicated that students' mastery of rhetorical structures, especially in the finding and discussion section, is categorized as high and medium, where in the finding section, the average value of students was 41 which is categorized as high, while the average value in the discussion section is 37 which is included in the medium category. The next finding was that some students had difficulty in writing the finding and discussion chapters. These problems included analyzing data, interpreting data, writing discussion sections, incomplete rhetorical structures in writing, mastery of English including vocabulary and grammar, writing the evaluation section in the discussion, coherence and cohesiveness in writing and personal problems. HIGHLIGHTS : Rhetorical structure mastery in Findings of Thesis was categorized as high. Rhetorical structure mastery in Discussion of Thesis was categorized as medium. Several students faced challenges in mastering rhetorical structure of findings and discussion,especially interpretation, rhetorical structure, and discussion of findings.

Abstract

Vocabulary mastery is important to acquire a language. Learning vocabulary has several barriers that slow down the progress. Minecraft application is used as a new method of learning English vocabulary. The goal of this research was to investigate whether there is a significance positive effect after used Minecraft application on students’ vocabulary mastery for 5th grade elementary students. A quasi-experimental method was used in this research with 63 students of SDN Poris Plawad 1 Tangerang, which separated into an experimental group (n=31) and a control group (n=32). The results revealed that Minecraft has better score result than the conventional method. Besides, the students’ behavior also resulted to be better than the conventional method. The survey also revealed that the students agreed that Minecraft was making the learning easier, less boring, less stressful and happier. However, the results could not be generalized due to the small sample taken in this research.
