This research aims to determine the extent of the influence of media usage motives. This study employs a quantitative approach with an explanatory survey method aimed at obtaining explanations regarding the causal relationships between the research variables, conducted through inferential statistical testing using multiple linear regression. The sample was 162 samples. The results of the study indicate that the variables of entertainment motives, information-seeking motives, and platform superiority motives have a significant effect on the intensity of podcast usage on the Noice platform. Meanwhile, time-passing motives, affiliation motives, self-discovery motives, and social interaction motives do not have a significant effect but contribute positively to the intensity of podcast usage on the Noice platform. The conclusion of this study is that there is an influence of media usage motives on the intensity of podcast usage on the Noice platform.

Abstract

Health crowdfunding through digital platforms is now a major social trend in Indonesia. But how these practices correlate with Social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) theories is still not widely explored. This study aims to explore the role of digital health crowdfunding within SBCC and social service delivery, especially in the Indonesian context. We used a systematic literature review method based on the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. We analyzed 45 articles published between 2015 and 2024, covering key theoretical texts on SBCC, crowdfunding, and empirical research. The findings show that Indonesian crowdfunding websites like Kitabisa.com already incorporate SBCC elements. These include agenda-setting, social norms activism, community involvement, and trust-based persuasion. This study shows a clear convergence between SBCC strategies and crowdfunding techniques. However, we also note several challenges like donor fatigue, inequality, and risks to vulnerable communities. Finally, we developed an integrated theoretical model. This model works as a heuristic tool rather than an empirical framework, which is the main theoretical contribution of this paper.

Abstract

Returning Indonesian migrant workers often face difficulties in socio-economic reintegration after returning to their home regions, characterized by low public participation, limited entrepreneurial skills, and dependence on unsustainable remittances. This study aims to analyze the application of andragogy principles in the Desa Peduli Buruh Migran Program by Migrant CARE within the Gema Karya Migran Group in Juntinyuat, Indramayu, as well as its contribution to the socio-economic reintegration of former migrant workers. The research method is descriptive qualitative, with data collection through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis involving program facilitators, group members, families of migrant workers, government, and the migrant worker protection service center. The research results indicate that the program has implemented Knowles’ six principles of andragogy, namely the need to know, self-concept, role of experience, readiness to learn, orientation to learning, and motivation. This implementation has successfully restored the social functioning of group members through increased participation in village deliberations, the development of self-confidence, and the ability to independently handle licensing procedures. However, the contribution to economic reintegration remains limited because income from micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises is sporadic and dependent on orders from corporate partners. In conclusion, the Desbumi Program is effective as a social reintegration strategy, while economic reintegration requires ongoing support, particularly in the areas of market access and digital marketing.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how social institutions fulfill the role of a “supplemental family” in providing the “I Have” source of resilience for former juvenile offenders who are beneficiaries of the Transition Home Program at the Free and Safe Indonesia Foundation. “I Have” is a source of resilience referring to external support. This study employs a phenomenological approach to understand the experiences of former juvenile offenders in perceiving the Free and Safe Indonesia Foundation as a source of support during the process of social reintegration. Data were collected through interviews, observation, literature review, and document analysis involving two main informants and three supporting informants. Data analysis was conducted thematically, drawing on the five elements of the ‘I Have’ resilience framework. The research findings indicate that the Free and Safe Indonesia Foundation functions as a supplemental family—specifically, a type of voluntary kin that complements the role of the biological family, which remains present but cannot function optimally—by fulfilling the five elements of the “I Have” sources of resilience: trusting relationship, structure and rules at home, role models, encouragement to be autonomous, and access to services. The research findings indicate that the relationship formed between beneficiaries and the Transition Home environment is no longer perceived as a formal service relationship, but rather as a familial bond that provides a sense of belonging, a sense of ownership, and sustains social support. This study confirms that social institutions can serve as a legitimate source of ‘I Have’ resilience for former juvenile offenders and contribute to the process of social reintegration through an approach based on relationships and a sense of community.
