Abstract

The application of the project-based learning model fosters improved understanding and creativity, thereby supporting children's independence. Project-based learning also facilitates character development. This study aims to describe the implementation of the project-based learning model and the subsequent increase in children's independence. The study employed Kurt Lewin's classroom action research model, utilizing descriptive statistics for data analysis. Data collected were categorized according to the study's objectives and gathered through observation and documentation. The research procedure comprised two cycles, preceded by an initial observation or pre-cycle phase. The subjects were 19 children aged 5–6 years. The results indicate a significant increase in independence from the pre-cycle stage through to Cycle II. The average independence score rose from 37.63 in the pre-cycle to 46.90 in Cycle I and 85.46 in Cycle II. By Cycle II, eight children fell into the "good" category, while 11 were in the "very good" category.

Abstract

The use of learning media to stimulate English vocabulary in children aged 5-6 years is still suboptimal in several early childhood education (PAUD) institutions, so more engaging and interactive media are needed to make the vocabulary learning process more effective. This research aims to develop an innovative game media, Funtasia Game, which combines a board game and flashcards to stimulate English vocabulary in children aged 5-6 years. Data were collected through questionnaires, observation, and interviews, with quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques. The results showed that the feasibility test by media experts obtained an average percentage of 95%. In comparison, the material expert obtained 99%, whereas the small group trial obtained an average percentage of 97.3%, and the large group trial obtained 99.5%. Based on the feasibility category table, the Funtasia Game media is included in the very feasible category for use in stimulating English vocabulary in children aged 5-6 years. These results indicate that the Funtasia Game media can serve as a solution for PAUD educators in addressing the limitations of English vocabulary learning media, as well as a reference for further development, which is expected to improve the product both in terms of material criteria and other early childhood development aspects.

Abstract

Expressive language ability can be defined as a child’s capacity to articulate words and use language to convey their thoughts to others. This study aims to describe and identify the expressive language development of early childhood learners who experience speech delay, as well as to examine the factors that influence this development within the context of early childhood education environments. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through triangulation, drawing from observations, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data collection, data display, data condensation, and conclusions drawing/verifying. The findings indicate that the expressive language development of children with speech delay is not solely dependent on the child’s internal conditions, but is also influenced by support from the educational environment. Effective collaboration between teachers and parents serves as a key factor in successfully enhancing the expressive language abilities of children with speech delay.

Abstract

Currently, some teachers are not yet able to conduct authentic assessment comprehensively in early childhood education institutions. This condition occurs because the assessment used still tends to be traditional, whereas authentic assessment is needed to evaluate various dimensions of children’s development more thoroughly. This study aims to explore how professional development and experience in using digital authentic assessment contribute to the development of early childhood education teachers’ professional expertise. This study employed a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design with experimental and control groups involving early childhood education teachers. The reliability and validity of the instrument were confirmed, and the analysis was conducted using a paired sample t-test after the normality test showed that the data were normally distributed. The results showed that teachers obtained significantly higher competency scores compared to the initial condition. This indicates that the training and practices provided were effectively implemented in teachers’ use of digital assessment. These findings create an implication that participatory and practice-based professional development can improve the digital pedagogical readiness of early childhood education teachers. Future development programs should apply a similar model on a broader scale and integrate continuous mentoring strategies to sustain digital assessment practices among teachers, as well as promote authentic learning in the context of early childhood education.

Abstract

Purpose of Study: This study aims to develop a mobile video tutorial based on CERDAS guidelines, a new learning media aimed at enhancing scientific writing ability for students in the TPE Seminar course.Methodology: This study followed the ADDIE model with mixed-methods approach. This study used qualitative methods like needs analysis, expert validation, product revision, and quantitative product success evaluation. The quantitative phase used a one-group pretest–posttest quasi-experimental design and a paired-sample t-test to assess students' scientific writing skills after using the product.Main Findings: The CERDAS Video Tutorials were developed through teamwork, involving the development of content maps and storyboard narratives for the TPE students' video tutorials. Through Canva and CapCut, the video tutorials were developed and later endorsed by professionals to be made available online for free use by all. The study established that CERDAS Video Tutorial had a positive impact on TPE students' scientific writing. The results of the paired-sample t-test showed that there was a remarkable increase from pretest to posttest, with the results increasing from 66.42 to 82.60, which is equivalent to 16.18 on average, p < .05.Novelty/Originality of This Study: Video tutorials improved students' conceptual knowledge, writing arrangement, and analytical skills, according to this study. The video instruction has also been demonstrated to spur pedagogical innovation in the professional teacher education program's relationship between hands-on field experience and scientific writing.
