Abstract

The rapid development of technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), has opened new opportunities to enhance the quality of education, including Islamic religious education. The Akidah Akhlak subject is still predominantly taught using conventional methods, which are often monotonous and less engaging for the digital generation. Therefore, there is a need for innovative, interactive, and adaptive teaching materials. This study aims to develop AI-based teaching materials to improve student engagement, understanding, and learning outcomes in Akidah Akhlak. This research employs a Research and Development (R&D) approach with both qualitative and quantitative designs. The ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate) is applied to develop the teaching materials, supported by the Quizizz platform as an interactive tool for learning and formative assessment. Data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, pre-tests and post-tests, and student questionnaires, then analyzed using thematic analysis for qualitative data and statistical tests for quantitative data. The results indicate that the AI-based teaching materials are highly feasible, with expert validation reaching 84% and student response at 83%. Pre-test and post-test analyses showed a significant improvement in student understanding, with the average N-Gain score increasing from 53.16 to 81.53, demonstrating high effectiveness. The findings imply that AI-based teaching materials not only enhance the quality of Akidah Akhlak learning but also provide an interactive teaching alternative that aligns with the needs of the digital generation. This study serves as a reference for Islamic educational institutions in leveraging technology to enrich students’ learning experiences.

Abstract

This study aimed to (1) develop an AI-integrated Audio-Lingual Method (ALM) learning media to enhance students’ speaking self-efficacy and (2) evaluate its effectiveness in classroom settings. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model, the media integrated AI Speech Recognition and Text-to-Speech (TTS) features within ALM-based learning sequences—dialogue modelling, imitation, repetition drills, and guided practice—across five modules: Materials, Reading Practice, Listening Practice, Speaking Tools, and Chatbot Practice. A quasi-experimental implementation with undergraduate students measured self-efficacy using a 19-item questionnaire adapted from Darmawan et al. (2021) and based on Bandura’s self-efficacy theory. The instrument showed high reliability (Cronbach’s α = 0.930) and item validity (r > 0.30). Results revealed significant increases in all self-efficacy dimensions—Personal Ability Belief (3.596→4.387), Growth Through Effort (3.620→4.480), and Influencing Factors (3.583→4.361). The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test confirmed a significant improvement (p = 0.000). Overall, AI-assisted, repetition-based learning with instant feedback effectively enhanced learners’ confidence, persistence, and emotional regulation in English speaking.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education has grown rapidly, yet its implementation within the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model at the primary school level still faces challenges.Aims: This Systematic Literature Review (SLR) aimed to synthesize the empirical trends, effectiveness, and pedagogical roles of AI integration within the PjBL syntax, focusing specifically on its dual impact on primary school students' digital literacy and creativity. Methods: Guided by the PRISMA 2020 protocol, this study analyzed 16 high-quality empirical articles (2021–2025) identified through ScienceDirect and Google Scholar. The selection process utilized a stringent inclusion threshold (≥ 70%) using a Quality Assessment (QA) protocol that synthesized Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) standards with those proposed by Pingmuang. Results: The thematic synthesis reveals that AI restructures the project lifecycle through three functional typologies: Facilitator (process support), Co-creator (collaborative partner), and Generator (content producer). Quantitative evidence demonstrates that AI-enhanced PjBL yields a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.30) in conceptual understanding and a strong positive correlation between digital literacy and creativity (r=0.714). Critical analysis identifies two pathways: a "Virtuous Cycle" where AI fosters critical editing and cognitive scaffolding, and a "Vicious Cycle" where a lack of pedagogical guidance triggers instant dependency. Conclusion: Primary school students possess the adaptive capacity to utilize AI effectively when supported by ethical surveillance and human-centered scaffolding. This review contributes a novel AI-PjBL Conceptual Model, offering a precise pedagogical blueprint for responsible AI integration in primary classrooms.
