Abstract

This study aims to determine the soil chemical properties in cacao agroforestry and cacao mixed garden. The research was conducted for three months, October – December, 2017, at Ngata Katuvua Dongi-Dongi, Palolo Sub-district, Sigi District, Central Sulawesi. The study used a survey method, soil samples collected on five points at 0-30cm and 30-60cm depth for each plot, and then compiled into one sample. The soil samples collection are 4 soil sample. The soil samples were analyzed at the Laboratory of Soil Science Unit of the Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University. The study results showed that soil chemical properties on cacao agroforestry tend to be better than soil on cacao mixed garden. The Soil chemical properties on cacao agroforestry: pH 6.42, N-total 0.27%, P-available 13.79ppm, K-available 0.26 (cmol (+) kg-1, C-organic 3.69% and CEC 22,34 (cmol (+) kg-1. While the soil chemical properties on the cacao mixed garden: pH 6.20, N-total 0.11%, P-available 6.67ppm, K-available 0.12 (cmol (+) kg-1, C-organic 1.84%, and CEC 13.45 (cmol (+) kg-1.Keywords: soil chemistry, agroforestry, mixed garden.

Abstract

thing as an implication is the high endemicity because the eastern region of Indonesia consists of more clusters of small islands, making many species isolated and ultimately having to adjust to their habitat and environment. Association is the interdependence between species and other types. Both animals and plants from the simplest to the high-rise ones. The purpose of the study was to find out the types of birds and their associations found in the Forest Education Area of Tadulako University, Bolano Lambunu District, Parigi Moutong Regency. This research was conducted for 3 months, from April to June 2016. The method of data collection in this study included the collection of primary data and secondary data. In this study, the transect pathway method is used which is a method used in which the observer walks by following the direction and location of the center line of the transect slowly while recording the types of birds encountered, both directly (visually) and indirectly. This observation is done by determining the observation points as many as 10 points and placed on the left and right transect lines along the 500 meters. In this study one transect line was used. The Forest Education Area of Tadulako University, Bolano Lambunu District, Parigi Moutong Regency, there are 17 species of birds that are included in 11 families. there are 8 species of birds which are Sulawesi endemics found in the study site. To find out whether there are associations between the two types, a comparison between Chi-Square counts {X² count} with X² tables at the free degree = 1. Of the 17 species of birds found in the study location, 11 species are categorized as associations because they have x2 count values > 3.841 and there are 5 types of birds which are categorized as not associated because they have a value of x2 calculated <3.841.Keywords: Bird Association, Educational Forest, Bolano Lambunu

Abstract

The local wisdom is a knowledge obtained in hereditary that becomes a custom and based on the values and based on the values and norms of society. As the To`Balaesan ethnic or the original ethnic in Rano village inhibiting Tanjung Balaesang cluster lies on viscous culture covering language, religion system, and a little different physics from the other society in the area of Balaesang Tanjung sub district. The method employed was explorative descriptive with a qualitative approach through the exploration of key informants information. Thus it can describe a certain situation or a group of human systematically, factually, and accurately based on the fact in the field. The data were collected through observation and interview with a good structured guidance or free interview. The population was the Rano people. The selection of the informants was by using snow-ball sampling. The result indicates that Rano people still uphold their tradition they know from the past, seen from the land selection process, land opening and the farming process. All of it accumulated in a topomaradia tradition institution which contains a set of rules and inferences as the attitude manager norms and behavior of the ethnic society to`balaesang in Rano village. Abstract

Medicinal plants are medicinal plants that can relieve pain, increase endurance, prevent and cure diseases. The use of natural materials as traditional medicine in Indonesia has been carried out by our ancestors since centuries ago until now still exists, especially in the village of Malonas, Dampelas District, Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity of medicinal plants in the Production Forest area of Malonas Village, Dampelas District, Donggala Regency. This research was carried out in the production forest of Malonas Village, Dampelas Subdistrict, Donggala Regency, which was held for 2 months, from July to August 2018. This study used a single plot method which was purposively placed based on the location of medicinal plants. The minimum sample plot area used is determined by the area species curve. The results of the research conducted show that the number of seedlings and understorey medicinal plants that can grow in this area is greater, because the growth rate of the lower plants has a high diversity and species richness index influenced by the topography of the slope-sloping research site and at least cover from canopy at the level of growth of poles and trees. It can be seen from the results of calculation of tree level diversity index (H ') (0.69), pole level (0.61), stake level (0.63), seedling level and understorey (1.33). So the diversity of medicinal plants according to growth rates is generally classified as low.Keywords: Malonas Village Production Forest, Medicinal Diversity

Abstract

Mangrove forest is a typical ecosystem in tropical regions, which have multiple benefits and effects especially on the social, economic and ecological aspects. This study was aimed to know direct and indirect benefits of mangrove forest by analyze and quantify its value to Indonesian currency (IDR). The study was conducted at Sausu Peore village, Sausu sub-district, Parigi Moutong regency, Central Sulawesi, from March through May 2014. The method used in this study was based on the market price. Respondents were selected by purposive sampling method. Identification and quantification of the use natural resources was done by assessment on the market and replacement price. The results showed that direct benefits of the mangrove forests in this area are firewoods, wood as construction materials, fishs, shellfish, crabs, and bats, while indirects benefits of the mangrove forests is as a buffer on coastal aberration. The economic value of direct benefits was IDR. 513,499,753, while the value of indirect benefits was IDR. 499,655,240, so the total value of all benefits was IDR.1,013,164,993. Abstract

Rattan is persevering climbing plant and almost can grow in all areas. Rattan is one of forest plant and have commercial price at market. At the public this plant can grow naturally, spread begin from the beach until the mountain and grow fast and relative easy to harvest and transport. Rattan stick can reach for the hundreds meter. Spray water if we slash the stick and can be used for survival at the forest. This research purpose to know many types of rattan at the protection forest area in Dampelas Sojol subdistrict Donggala regency. This research using the box line method with cut contour line. Supervision form with long track 100 m and wide 20 m. furthermore build 20 sub box with format 10 X 10 meter. Number of supervision is 3 track with box placement and intentional directed according “purposive sampling” basic on the area can grow rattan . Research result indicate that kind variety of rattan in Dampelas Sojol subdistrict Donggala regency main kind variety of rattan cacing (Calamus melanoloma Mart) lambang (Calamus ornatus), tohiti (Calamus inops), batang (Calamus zollingeri Becc) and noko (Calamus koordersianus Becc),. The kind of rattan was so dominate is worm rattan with INP 76,67 %. Index kind variety of rattan at the protection forest area in Dampelas Sojol subdistrict Donggala regency include very low with H’ number 0,52 %. Key word: rattan, protection forest, Donggala.

Abstract

The function of soil is a medium for growth and root development in supporting plants to grow and supply the need of water and nutrients to the planst roots. The issue raised in this study is how the physical properties of soil, including the texture, structure, porosity, bulk density and permeability of soil under the stand of ebony at the Natural Reserve of Pangi Binangga. Ebony is one of the endemic tree species in Sulawesi Island including Central Sulawesi. The purpose of this study was to determine the physical properties of soil under the stands of ebony at the Natural Reserve of Pangi Binangga, Parigi Moutong Regency. This study was conducted for 3 months (May-July 2013) at the Natural Reserve of Panggi Binangga, Sakina Jaya Village, Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. This study used survey and analysis in the laboratory. Soil samples were collected by using purposive sampling technique, that is, deliberately having particular consideration: the level of slope 0-8%, 8-15%, 15-25%, and 25-40%. The number of soil samples was 16 soil samples taken from the four slopes in two depths (0-30 cm and 30-60 cm). The study shows that the soil under the stands of ebony has a sandy loam soil texture class and loamy sand, structure soil crusts and granular, slight porous and porous (37.84 to 58.07%), rapid and very fast permeability (13,27 to 36,10 cm/h) and has a high and very high of bulk density of the medium (1.11 to 1.65 g/cm3). Abstract

Perception is the process of a stimulus to organize observations in such a way that they can be returned through the sense organs. This study aims to determine public perception of the determination of educational forest areas. This study was conducted for three months, namely in February 2018-April 2018. Materials and tools used in this study were questionnaires, writing instruments, cameras, calculators, computers and data what is needed in this study consists of primary and secondary data and using descriptive methods. The results of the scale interval of community knowledge about educational forests obtained 104 results that are less aware of the existence of educational forests. For the results of the interval scale community understanding of the basis and purpose of the education forest shows that community understanding for the category of very understanding with the total score of 75 there are 15 people, the category of understanding with a score of 60 there are 15 people, the category of less understanding with a score of 9 there are 3 people, the category does not understand with a score of 2 there is 1 person and very do not understand with a score of 0 there is 1 person so that an interval scale of 146 is found that the public understands what is meant by the basis and purpose of an educational forest. The results of the scale of community perception interval on the determination of educational forest area obtained an interval scale of 17 people in the excellent category with a total score of 3, a good category of 20 people with a total score of 80, a less good category 6 with a total score of 18, a bad category 0 with a total score of 0 and category is not very good 1 with a total score of 1 so that the final scale obtained is 134, which means the community's perception of the determination of the education forest area has not yet had a negative impact.

Abstract

Environmental conditions affecting the growth of terrestrial orchids and other orchids, namely altitude, temperature, sunlight and soil (place to grow). These factors are indispensable in the cultivation of orchid plants. Nowadays many people who love orchids or related institutions want to nurture and cultivate and preserve the plant but there is still much needed information about the environmental condition of the orchid habitat terrestrial. This research aims to know the physical environment of terrestrial orchid habitat in Mataue Village of Kulawi Sub-district of Sigi, implemented in late May until July 2018 with the survey method. Research using survey methods. Data retrieval is performed purposive sampling by retrieving data and samples in the field where terrestrial orchids are found. The data collected includes temperature, humidity, light intensity, altitude and soil pH. The results showed that of two types of terrestrial orchids observed each of the three individuals namely the Orchids Spathoglottis vanvuurenii J.J.Sm and Orchids Calanthe triplicate (Willemet) Ames at an altitude of 724 – 991 mdpl. Daily average light intensity ranges between 44%-49.7%, daily average air temperature ranges between 24,95 ° C-24.5 °c, average daily humidity ranges between 78.4%-79.5%, and soil pH in both types of terrestrial orchids ranged between 6.0 – 6.3.

Abstract

Dendrobium spp orchid is an orchid that grows and develops epiphytes attached to the host plant or the place of its growth. The orchid requires a place to grow with various types of specific host plants and different characteristics that exist in nature. The purpose of this research is to find out the characteristics of Dendrobium spp orchids and how to preserve Dendrobium spp orchids in nature. This research method consists of several stages, namely starting from a survey and exploration of forests in the village of Mataue BTNLL area to determine the location of orchid observation. Observe the characteristics of Dendrobium spp. Orchids in the plot. The observed data are Dendrobium spp orchids, host tree species and the surface of the bark of the Dendrobium orchid. As well as the height of the place based on elevation. The data is taken by conducting surveys and placement of deliberate observation plots (purposive sampling) with a size of 20 m x 20 m. Observation results at the study site found 5 types of trees on which Dendrobium spp orchids grow, namely: Dango (Harpullia sp), Forest Durian (Durio zibethinus Merr), Banyan (ficus sp), Neunauclea purpurea (Roxb.) Merr., Jabon / Kakabo (Anthocephalus) sp).
